My name is Chalas and I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology in Decemeber 2016. As a recent graduate, my objective is making studying an easier and more gratifying experience for others. Having spent time being tutored in a university setting, I have found that test scores improved as well as long-term understanding and applications of concepts. My goal is to give students the same opportunities to succeed.

As a passionate educator with a Masters of Business Administration in HR Management from Houston Christian University and experience in various teaching roles, I am dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment. I believe in empowering learners by guiding them to discover their potential. My approach combines interactive methods, such as discussions and hands-on activities, to engage students fully. Additionally, my background of almost 20 years in human resources allows me to navigate complex topics with ease, making learning both accessible and enjoyable. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy teaching yoga and exploring new systems, further enriching my ability to connect with diverse learners.
I have always been fascinated with science since I was a kid. I always performed really well in the science fairs in elementary school and middle school. When I went to high school I took an interest in physics. I eventually went to college to get a degree in physics. This was when I published my first paper for the European Journal of Physics. I was also fascinated with programming and the way the internet works today. I began to learn the programming language python. Then I learned ruby which was easier. I then set out to learning jQuery, Javascript, Java and HTML&CSS. Now I am fascinated with the connections between quantum physics and the arrival of the world wide web we have today. I am practicing the art of launching a website and plan on learning machine learning someday after I learn C C++ and C#! quantum physics and programming are challenges but that is only because they are adventures. No adventure was ever easy but they are always worth it!
I love math so much that it has become a lifestyle. I used to read Harry Potter and think "If only magic were real, I'd study so hard that I'd be the best wizard ever!" (pardon my tastes if you're not into fantasy)Well magic is real. Magic is the underlying mechanism of reality: how the world works, and math is the language it's written in.I've heard things like "math is cold and calculating," but I would argue that math is closer to English and the arts than it is to the sciences. Math is about curiosity, creativity, and intuition; you're writing spells to solve the problems of the world.Any calculator can do arithmetic, but if I can show you why the math exists in the first place, and how to invent it yourself, then and only then have I done my job.

I am knowledgeable about the classifications of students' learning differences and I understand how to effectively develop, implement, evaluate and facilitate the delivery of interventions for children with different learning styles. For over 14 years I have delivered differentiated and scientifically proven instructional techniques in which are prescriptive, systematic, motivating, creative and culturally responsive. My success as an educator can be attributed to my creativity and ability to effectively target instruction based on students' strengths and weaknesses.I am committed to being a life-long learner and staying abreast of 21st century teaching and learning. This will guide and direct my recommendations and assure the development of individualized treatment plans and interventions that are purposeful, observable, and measurable.
In 2013 I graduated from Houston Baptist University with my Bachelor of Arts in English and Biblical Languages. I minored in Latin and received the outstanding student award in English. After my BA, I moved from Houston to Boston with my husband. In 2015 I earned my MA in Classical Studies from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, focusing on Greek and Latin literature. I am currently working on my PhD in English Literature at Southern Methodist University. I specialize in the intersection between ancient texts and Christianity as it is evident in Renaissance literature. During my MA I worked as a teacher's assistant, learning teaching strategies from many distinguished professors. Students met with me one on one to discuss assignments, work on papers, and review for tests. During these years I had the opportunity to work with several ESL students and students with disabilities. Being deaf in my right ear gives me a unique perspective when working with students struggling with disabilities because I have fought those battles myself, albeit to a smaller degree than some. I firmly believe that disabilities should never stand in the way of learning.I currently teach DISC writing courses at SMU and help students make sure that their writing is up to the collegiate level. I also work with an ESL program in the Frisco area. In this program, I help students of all levels in their journey to learn English.I love literature, and I hope to be able to share that joy with others. I am always happy to help students improve their writing and expand their vocabularies, regardless of the language. When it comes to test prep, my knowledge of Latin and Greek allows me to point out roots of words that will enable students to determine vocabulary definitions much faster. A good education provides a strong foundation for life, and I love helping others establish that firm ground from which they will continue to grow. I am always challenging myself by reading new books and articles.Throughout my life, I have studied Spanish, Latin, German, Hebrew, Greek, Old English, and Japanese. This strong background in foreign languages means that I am intimately familiar with the language acquisition process, and I love using that background to help others take their first steps with a foreign language. I firmly believe that learning another language should be fun and that it is one of the most rewarding journeys a person can take. When working with children, I like to use items that they already know and love to help them learn.
I am a recent medical school graduate. I am honored to have the privilege to make life changing decisions, but I decided to take a year off before starting residency. I have always challenged myself to the highest degree, and I would help your child do so if given the opportunity. One of my strengths in tutoring includes my ability to work with special needs children. I have had the opportunity to work with both ADHD and Autistic children during my college years, and I have gained the expertise to effectively produce positive results in a behavioral and academic setting. In such cases, I believe repetition is the strongest technique in which one can produce results. Patience and repetition in general are effective in helping children that have special needs.I am originally from India, but I grew up Japan. I had the privilege to obtain a world-class education in both of these countries. I am highly adaptable to all forms of environment. I majored in biology and psychology at Houston Baptist University before attending medical school. I am currently in pursuit of a MBA in health care administration. The degrees helped gain expertise on various aspects of the academic spectrum. I am confident in my ability to teach both math and science. I am a very systematic and methodical person. These traits help communicate mathematics in clear and concise manner.Overall I am patient, persistent, and assertive. These aspects of my personality have been effective in my prior teaching experiences. I have always dedicated time to tutor younger classmates during medical school which has helped me tremendously in retaining the material. After I have taught a particular subject matter, if my student can teach the subject matter effectively back to me, then the material is better retained. I have passed multiple strenuous nine hour United States medical licensing exams, and I believe I have the skills one needs to help your child improve in his or her test taking skills. I would be honored to work with your child and improve his or her overall academic experience.

Hello, I am Ophelia Binkley-Webb. I have over 30 years experiencing teaching and tutoring at various levels from elementary school to higher education. I have taught English, Literature, Writing, Psychology, and College Success courses. I love helping others to glean knowledge because I understand how valuable having it is both academically and professionally. I consider it to be both an honor and a privilege to have an opportunity to impart information as gaining knowledge/information has been key to my own growth and achievement. It is wonderful to have an opportunity to be instrumental in helping others to reach their own goals and achievements.
I am a graduate of Houston Christian University with a major in finance and a minor in cinema and new media. I first started tutoring on a volunteer basis at my community college and fell in love with it. Since then, I've worked and volunteered as a tutor over a wide variety of subjects for years, and eventually obtained my alternative certification as a high school math teacher. I have experience helping students of all ages from grade school to adults, from public schools to homeschoolers, and the one thing they all have in common is that they learn best if they want to learn. As an educator, my job is not only to explain the concepts the students want to learn but also to make the lessons engaging enough that they will want to learn.
I am currently a grad student at HBU and I taught Kindergarten last year. My teaching style is very interactive and hands-on, my most important goal is to meet your student's needs. My interests are running, teaching, cooking, traveling, volunteering, and being with family and friends. I believe that every day is a chance to grow and a chance for self-improvement, so let's begin!

I am a native Houstonian who attended HBU, and then earned a law degree from the University of Houston. My first tutoring experience actually happened during law school, when I used a writing tutor to help me improve with my own writing. I found the experience very helpful, and was able to go on to be published in a law journal. I have also taught English as a Second language for the past two years to adults. These experiences have taught me the importance of creating a positive and encouraging learning environment, where students feel safe to express themselves and ask questions. I also try to explain concepts in multiple ways to help my student grasp the concepts.I enjoy tutoring writing and essays. Writing, both creatively and technically, is a necessary skill to succeed in today's media-centered world, and I enjoy helping my students succeed in this area.In my free time, I enjoy being active outside with sports like cycling, swimming and running. I love spending time with my little niece, reading, and listening to music.
As a passionate and patient educator with nearly 2 decades of teaching experience and a master's degree, I specialize in tailoring learning to your (or your student's) needs or interests and building the confidence needed to be a lifelong learner. I particularly enjoy helping with math and study skills.
As an educator with over a decade of teaching experience, I am excited about the opportunity to apply my skills and expertise in science with you all. I have a bachelors degree in Biology from Dillard University in New Orleans Louisiana, and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Houston Baptist University. My teaching philosophy is always centered around the student and how I can bring real world experiences to what they are being taught. Every student has their own individual needs and way of learning. As their instructor it is my responsibility to have them explore their gifts and talents, providing an environment that will maximize their learning to meet their individual needs. It is important for me to teach in a way that employs a variety of teaching strategies that the students will understand. Teaching is my passion, a life-long process of reflecting and making necessary adjustments. It is my belief that all students will learn with my guidance and support, and be successful in life with whatever path they choose.
I am currently a student at Houston Baptist University working my way up to a Bachelor's Degree in computer science. Currently, I help tutor a lot of friends, class peers, or other school mates. While I do tutor in many subjects(Pre- Algebra Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus 1), I am most passionate about programming (Python). Nonetheless, with all of my tutor experience it is always a very fun and efficient learning environment. In my free time, I enjoy reading, working out, coding, and a game of soccer.
Hey there! I'd love to create a friendly and relaxed environment for you to learn. Learning can be hard, but having someone to explain how to fill the gaps in your knowledge makes is less hard. In my experience, people learn the best when someone is supporting them, and I'd love to be part of that support a student needs.
I am delighted to guide you in your journey of education, advancement, and curiousity. Children and adolescents of all ages are the hope for the future. I connect and build strong rapport with young, bright minds as I tailor the tutoring process, rewards and reminders, and communication to the student's preferences and ability. My experience with children involves tutoring and babysitting since my adolescent years, coaching volleyball since my undergraduate years, and teaching preschool in between medical school and my Masters program. I have earned an International Baccalaureate certificate and high school diploma from McAllen Memorial High School, a Bachelors of Science in Biology with Minors in Chemistry and Medical Humanities from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and I am currently gaining a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am strongly suited to tutor in the sciences, math, English, Spanish, Korean, psychology, and standardized tests (SAT, ACT, MCAT, and STEP 1). Personally, I understand the pressure and demands of standardized examinations; therefore, I wish to offer my advice and care for those struggling with these types of assessments. Asking for help is not a weakness, especially in the realm of education. I anticipate bonding with my students and tutoring them to the best of my abilities.
Although I grew up speaking both English and Spanish, I wanted to further my education and learn more. I have taken every level of Spanish including AP Spanish in High School, Kindergarten through 12th grade, and graduated from Houston Baptist University with a Bachelor's in Spanish. I strongly believe by learning a second language, it can make an individual very marketable in any job you pursue and if given the opportunity, I would like to add that value to anyone who would like to be tutored.
I graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor of communication (3.9 GPA), I graduated Lone Star College with an associate of science (4.0 GPA), and I graduated Houston Baptist University with a bachelor of psychology and a bachelor of education (4.0 GPA X 2). I am a doctoral candidate at Southern New Hampshire University pursuing a PhD in MESA - an acronym for measurement, evaluation, statistics, and assessment. I currently work full time at the American Bureau of Shipping as a project manager and in engineering team support. I tutor because teaching is where I find joy. I am honored by every opportunity that allows me to play a role in leading students toward learning that they are capable. I deeply enjoy seeing students gain confidence in their academic abilities. I have been fortunate enough to have taught and tutored students in ages ranging from three-years-old to twenty-years-old. I have taught in classrooms, I have tutored small groups, and I have tutored one-one-one. The experiences differ, but each has been gratifying. I am excited to tutor in a variety of subjects including English, language arts, reading, writing, literature, math, world history, US history, social studies, studying techniques, and organizational techniques, and other various subjects. I have taught toddlers and I have tutored young adults, and I've worked with students at every age in between. I enjoy teaching any subject with which I am familiar, but my favorite would probably fall somewhere under the umbrella of language arts as well as algebra. My teaching philosophy is first and foremost to have confidence in my students. Students pick up not only on what is said by adults in positions of authority, but also by what is not said. If a teacher lacks confidence in a student, that lack of confidence is absolutely noticeable to the student. My confidence in my students doesn't falter. Additionally, my own enthusiasm about the subject being taught is critical in keeping students engaged. I am adaptable and flexible. Even with excellently designed lesson plans, sometimes student attention wanders and and interest dips. Adaptability and flexibility are critical tools for teachers who want their students to not only learn, but also to be enthusiastically engaged. My tutoring techniques will vary from one child to the next. My tutoring techniques are tailored individually, and the tailoring improves as I spend more time with the student. I have extensive experience working with children with ADHD as well as with children on the spectrum. I enjoy helping these students to find tools that help them succeed. I'm honored by your consideration of allowing me to work with your child.
