Hello, and welcome! I'm a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and bookkeeping professional with a degree in Accounting and more than 15 years of experience analyzing financial information, solving business problems, and helping people understand numbers with confidence. Whether you're a small business owner learning to manage your own books, a bookkeeping professional looking to strengthen your QuickBooks skills, or a student learning accounting fundamentals, I will meet you where you are and help you build confidence step by step. In our sessions, you can expect clear explanations, real-world examples, and hands-on guidance that you can immediately apply. My goal is not only to help you learn QuickBooks but also to help you understand the "why" behind the process so you can make informed decisions and work more efficiently. I look forward to helping you achieve your learning goals and become more confident using QuickBooks.

I am currently a mathematics professor at a community college, where I teach both online and on-ground classes, teaching everything from college prep math to college algebra to basic and advanced statistics. Before this position, I taught electronics and computer networking at a technical institute and mathematics and computers at a career college.I enjoy teaching and tutoring math and science, trying to make both subjects relatable to everyday situations, understandable and fun. My goal is to help students first understand how certain mathematical principles work, because then it will be easier for them to learn how to apply them appropriately. When I am not teaching, I enjoy woodworking and reading science fiction.

In 2019 I obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry with a focus in Biology from Kettering University. From there I went on to earn a Master's in Organizational Leadership and Entrepreneurship from Grand Canyon University. Throughout my undergraduate I worked as a laboratory assistant for a cellular biologist. This allowed me to assist in instructing students in laboratory practices. I was there to assist in showing how book work can be translated into real world applications. I have worked extensively with children ages K-6th grade in summer and winter programs at my local church, organizing a team and promoting memorization and application reading. I am a firm believer that anyone can learn any subject if the work is put in. I also understand learning styles are essential in academia. I strive to assist in helping others learn how they can better prepare themselves academically. I have a special kind of love for the science and mathematics field, loving chemistry, biology, and calculus. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, music, and playing with my puppy Nova.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tutors who attended or graduated from Kettering University bring firsthand experience with the university's rigorous engineering and STEM curriculum. They've navigated the same challenging coursework, problem-solving approaches, and academic standards that current Kettering students face, giving them deep insight into what it takes to succeed. This background means they understand not just the material, but the specific teaching style and expectations of Kettering's programs.

Tutors with Kettering backgrounds excel in engineering fundamentals, mathematics (including calculus and differential equations), physics, chemistry, and computer science. Many have expertise in applied engineering disciplines like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and manufacturing engineering. If you're taking core Kettering courses like Engineering Mechanics, Thermodynamics, or Circuits, connecting with a tutor who studied these subjects at Kettering can be particularly helpful.

Kettering's distinctive co-op program alternates classroom and work terms, giving students real-world engineering experience. Tutors who completed this program bring practical context to academic concepts—they can explain how theoretical knowledge applies in actual engineering work. This practical perspective helps make abstract concepts more concrete and shows students the relevance of what they're learning beyond the classroom.

Absolutely. Tutors who graduated from Kettering understand the fast-paced, project-heavy nature of the curriculum and have proven study strategies that work within this environment. They can help you develop time management skills specific to Kettering's schedule, teach you how to approach labs and design projects effectively, and provide guidance on tackling difficult problem sets that are central to the Kettering experience.

Tutors who've taken the same exams at Kettering know what to expect—the types of problems, the depth of understanding required, and the time constraints. They can guide you through practice problems that mirror actual exam difficulty, help you identify which concepts are most heavily tested, and teach you problem-solving strategies that work specifically for Kettering's assessment style. This targeted preparation can make a real difference in exam performance.

Yes. Tutors with Kettering experience can share insights about different engineering disciplines, course sequences, and what to expect in upper-level coursework for various majors. While they can't replace academic advising, they can give you a student's perspective on which majors align with different interests, what courses are most challenging in each track, and how the co-op program applies to different engineering fields.

Varsity Tutors connects you with qualified tutors based on your specific needs, including their educational background. When you reach out, let us know that you're a Kettering student and mention which courses or topics you need help with.
