MS MGH Institute of Health Professions • BA San Diego State University
1+ Years Tutoring

I am a graduate of San Diego State University and am a current attendee of graduate school in occupational therapy in Boston, Massachusetts. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. While studying for my bachelors degree, I tutored young adults working to receive their high school diploma in San Diego. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Writing skill development and organization. I enjoy teaching Math skills from an elementary level up to Algebra I. Additionally, I am proficient in teaching Anatomy, specifically Clinical Anatomy. I have spent many hours studying and finding techniques of which to best learn different types of material for both myself and the students I have worked with in the past. I enjoy helping people learn and reach their full potential and it is my aim to foster student learning on an individual basis. Understanding that each person learns in a different way at a different rate has allowed me to fully engage in both one on one as well as small group teaching. Overall, I am willing to try many different techniques to be able to support each person's learning and am able to teach to many different learning styles. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, yoga, long walks, and swimming.

I graduated from Bowdoin College in 2010 with a double major in Government and Spanish. Since graduating I have worked as the Outreach Coordinator at a local non-profit, as a Project Manager for a translation company and as a helper for a senior couple in Cambridge. This fall I will be returning to school to get my Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. For those of you thinking of taking the GRE after years away from school, I can relate since I was in the same boat last summer. Getting back into test prep mode required lots of practice, trial and error and patience. I would love to share what I learned going through the process and help you to reach your potential! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outside- running, hiking, picnicking by the Charles River, you name it!

Hello, I'm Emma! I'm excited at the possibility of becoming your tutor! Let's see if we would make a good matchA little about me I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy student at MGH Institute of Health Professions. I recently moved to South Boston from my home state of California to pursue my graduate degree and my ultimate goal of becoming a physical therapist. I graduated from UC Davis in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Biology and a minor in Psychology. My previous tutoring experience includes working as a tutor in the Psychology department at UC Davis, peer tutoring within the Exercise Biology department, and various peer-to-peer tutoring roles. At UC Davis I also worked as an Undergraduate Admissions Advisor where I gained extensive knowledge in college essay writing, and as a Campus Tour Guide where I honed my skill of public speaking. Prior to relocating to Boston I was building my career in physical therapy by working as a physical therapy aide in several outpatient orthopedic clinics and volunteering at the VA Rehabilitation Hospital. I am passionate about the health sciences and helping students achieve their academic goals. I am an original Harry Potter nerd and a sports fanatic. In my leisure time I enjoy being outdoors, watching sports, cooking, community volunteering and playing with dogs! How I can help youI've likely been in your shoes. I've been the student who has been frustrated with difficult assignments and seemingly useless subjects. However, through my partnership with tutors and a passion for knowledge I have acquired a broader context of the sciences and the study skills that have turned learning into an evolving process rather than a memorization task. I would like to share those skills with you and help YOU learn!I can help you:- Balance chemical equations- Understand the function of cells- Solve for 'x' in math problems- Learn human anatomy- Write your essay or speech- Give a successful public presentation- And much more! Please look over the list of subjects that I am available to tutor and contact me to set up your first tutoring session! I will gladly answer any further questions that you have about my qualifications in a direct message. Thank you for considering me to help you achieve academic success, good luck!

Casey
MS MGH Institute of Health Professions • BA The Ohio State University
6+ Years Tutoring

I am a graduate student working towards a doctorate degree in physical therapy at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. Before that, I received my B.A. in Psychology at The Ohio State University. I was fortunate enough to be a tutor for 2 years at SASSO (Student-Athlete Support Services Office), where I tutored student-athletes in a wide variety of courses and subjects. I was also a coach for both gymnastics and track for a few years, and I tutored in the National Honor Society in high school. I love helping people (hence my future profession), and I really enjoy helping people learn where I struggled once before. I have been tutoring for years, and I really enjoy watching the people I tutor grow in understanding, and I love when they start to take joy in doing well academically.I am an avid grammar fan. I love writing, reading, and grading papers. I tested out of English in college, and I have submitted so many papers in all different formats over my time at Ohio State that I could not even begin to count them. English was also a subject I tutored frequently at SASSO, so I am very prepared to aide in all aspects of the subject. I have a strong foundation in multiple choice exams and test-taking strategies. I really like to stress a knowledge of material, but I also am very big on studying smarter, not harder.Additionally, graduate school has prepared me very well for subjects such as anatomy and physiology. I would venture to say that I am proficient in these subjects, and I am more than capable of helping you learn these subjects for life. Please let me know if my strengths might meet your needs, and we can certainly work out times and dates for tutoring. This is for your learning, and the process should really revolve around you!
