I love working with learners of all ages and backgrounds! I have a long list of approved subjects on Varsity because in my 20 years as a bilingual educator, I've taught various subjects in K-12, English / Spanish language, test preparation, and in university and corporate contexts. I'm licensed and experienced in teaching all content areas for elementary grades. I really enjoy making Math and Science fun, and I'm a book lover! For middle and high school, I specialize in Social Studies, Humanities, and Literature/Language Arts at the secondary level. Project-based learning, research skills, and integration of technology are some elements that I use to make learning meaningful and connected to the real world. I have a BA in American Studies from a prestigious women's college, and a Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language. In my BA program, I also studied Spanish and Education, and have lived and taught in Latin America. My passion is finding creative ways to reach each learner according to his/her learning style, interests, and goals with a student-centered approach and growth mindset. I am a graduate of Mills College, with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a minor in Mathematics. While in college, I tutored students ranging from middle-schoolers to college students.
