I have a Master's in Math and Statistics and had been working as a senior analyst for the last several years where my job was focused heavily on computer coding. Before that I was an analyst, I taught College Algebra during my master's program. During my undergrad, I tutored in all subjects of math, physics, and some engineering courses.I recently moved to Portland and began an Urban Farming Apprenticeship. I love learning and have a teaching background in Math and Statistics. My undergrad is in Math Education and I have work with a full spectrum of students with great results.

My name is Md Nur, an experienced Mathematics teacher.I graduated from the Minnesota State University Mankato with Masters in Mathematics and Statistics. I have another master degree in applied mathematics along with Bachelor in Mathematics. My strong educational background and 6 years teaching experience working with students in Fundamental Math, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Elementary Statistics at the High School and university levels have prepared me to be a potential teacher.
I have a Master's Degree in Physics and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from two top Universities in Minnesota. I have 5+ years of experience in teaching both Physics and Chemistry at the collegiate level. My philosophy about teaching Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is that helping students develop insight, deep intuition, and a profound level of intimacy with concepts leads to a greater appreciation of the topic, an innate desire to learn it, and unavoidably, HIGHER TEST SCORES. I connect concepts with real world examples and bridge topics with multidisciplinary applications, helping students see the connectedness of the physical sciences and mathematics. With such a deep understanding and appreciation, students build a knack for QUICK AND CLEVER SOLUTIONS that prove to be extremely EFFICIENT IN EXAMS AND COMPETITIVE ACADEMICS.I am highly DIVERSITY-COMPETENT, both in the sociological sense and the academic sense. There is a diverse spread of students' backgrounds and needs that require thought and preparation on the teacher's part that come before the teaching. For example, I maintain caution when deciding to share or not share mathematical subtleties, computational details, and connections to higher-level topics, depending on the students' mathematical background, whether they are in a field that will later utilize some of those subtleties and details, or if they are in a non-physical science field trying to supplement their main educational goals with some additional coursework. As seen by some of my accolades such as "BEST GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT of the year 2015 at University of Minnesota - Duluth", and consistently high reviews from students, I aim and succeed in providing thoughtful, high-quality, and tailored assistance with sustainable results for each of my students.
I am a RDH who has been practicing clinical hygiene for five years. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene, eager to pursue teaching opportunities in the field of dentistry. During my bachelor's program, I had the chance to experience teaching dental hygiene students which increased my interest in education. I am passionate about dental hygiene and love to help others. Throughout my hygiene education, I had terrific instructors who helped me grow in my career. I would love to be able to provide this same experience to dental hygiene students. The NBDHE for licensing can be difficult, but through my experience and education, I can provide help to those who need it. I am patient and understanding and can relate to what you are experiencing.
I am a sociology professor with well over two decades of fulltime higher education experience. I was born and raised in the Upper Midwest, 13th of 14 children in a family of educators going back several generations. I graduated from Northland College of Wisconsin with a Sociology major and a minor in Native American Studies. I completed a doctorate in Sociology at Virginia Tech 6-1/2 years later. The primary focus in my professional life has been teaching. As a sociology professor, I have worked with students to help them master the major concepts and knowledge of the field and to draw out the importance of what they are learning for their lives as individuals and members of the community. I have taught in a wide variety of learning environments and have demonstrated an ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.I have a very broad teaching background that includes most areas of sociology and a few related social science areas. I have taught Introductory Sociology, Racial and Ethnic Minority Groups, Social Theory, Research Methods, Sociology of the Family, Medical Sociology, Native American Cultures, Contemporary Cultural Issues, Deviance and Criminology, Social Welfare Issues and Policy, Sociology of Religion, Social Problems, Freshman Seminar and many others.I recognise the tremendous value in developing writing skills and acquiring a general mastery of the English language. At Virginia Tech, I participated in the first project of its kind nationally to bring essay writing into very large freshman general education classes; in our case, Introductory Sociology. As a professor, I have been involved in Writing Across the Curriculum and have made writing an important component of my sociology classes.
I was presented with an opportunity to teach while I finished my last few semesters of my undergraduate degree and I continued to teach throughout my graduate degree. It has been said that those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. I strongly disagree. I believe that in order toeffectively tell the story of any subject, one must be aware of all of the hidden objects in the dark room. In order to teach effectively, you have to know how to navigate the dark room as if the lights are on. I believe that teaching is the highest form of understanding and that those who trulyunderstand, teach. As a teacher, you get to the chance to connect to students in a completely unique and rewarding way. I have yet to find a way to better describe my love for teaching.Outside of teaching and tutoring, I do not fit the "nerd" stereotype. I grew up playing every sport under the sun. I started playing baseball and basketball when I was 6, started playing football when I was in 5th grade and picked up golf and track in high school. I grew up in the Black Hills in South Dakota and am the complete outdoors man at heart. I love to hike, camp, hunt, fish and archery. In my spare time, I also love to run, bike and read (all sorts of books!). I love to play the guitar and have been playing for about 12 years now. I play mostly for myself but will only sing if I'm alone (or if my girlfriend asks).
I have my Ed.D. (Education Doctorate) in Educational Administration with specializations in Director of Special Education and Adult; Higher Education from the University of South Dakota, and my Master of Science in Special Education from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). During my study in the field of SPED, I earned licensure in Emotional/Behavior Disorders (E/BD), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), and Physical/Health Disabilities (P/HD). I was selected by the state of Minnesota to be a Teacher Mentor in the field of special education and have also spent eight years as a consultant for implementation of the Response to Intervention (RtI) model for Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Texas. Additionally, I am a trainer and certified coach for Teacher-Child Interactive Training (TCIT), which teaches teachers and children how to develop self-regulation and self-control skills. My experiences encompass over twenty years of working with a variety of families and youth (birth-lifespan) with exceptionalities and diverse needs in public and charter school settings, communities (before and after school programs), consulting, and professing at the university level. I have extensive experience in working with positively impacting academic achievement, pedagogy and methodology, assessment, curriculum and instruction development, teaching behavior, due process, instructional technology and assistive technology. I also presented numerous times both at national and international venues and am the author of two eBooks: one on social-emotional learning and mindset and the other on personal health and wellness.

I have enjoyed many years teaching algebra and geometry in both regular and alternative settings. I have helped many struggling students become successful. My students build stronger math skills and they develop the confidence necessary for greater math achievement. "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. "- Malcolm XI got into tutoring because it is a way for me to make some extra money from the comfort of my own home. I have a toddler, so I am able to spend time with her, while still fulfilling my calling of teaching others. I currently work in an elementary school, going on my sixth year of teaching. I enjoy working with students and ensuring that they fully grasp a concept before moving on. If students are struggling to understand, I really try to help them understand in another way. Not everyone learns the same, so why should teaching all be the same? One of my favorite quotes is "Giving the gift of knowledge is giving the one gift that will never need to be returned." It truly shows that teachers don't need anything in return for their time. Helping to teach someone isn't something that needs a thank you, although it is always appreciated also!

In 2020, my emergency license was extended to virtually teach Foundations of Algebra. In 2021, I was asked to teach Geometry for 10-12th grade students. I'm currently an Office Administrator, however, I missed the time I spent tutoring the students, and I'm hoping to help more students find some understanding and enjoyment in math.
I have worked solely in the HVAC world. I have sat behind a computer designing and modeling HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial buildings to being in the field as a mechanical contractor installing these systems. Currently, I am a project manager where I manage each of my projects from start to finish. Each client/job has its own set of unique restraints that require out of the box thinking to deliver the best results for the customer. I Love Tutoring Because it gives me an opportunity to give back. Without the tutors and teachers that I had in my life, I firmly believe that I wouldn't have continued down the career path that I did. I want to help others reach their goals and continue to push forward academically in life.
