Teaching students is my greatest passion. I strive to help every student achieve his or her best; the happiest moment for me is when I see the student's understanding of the subject becoming clearer and his or her confidence restored.

I am a graduate of Missouri State University and received my Bachelor of Science in English Education with a minor in Library Science and earned my Masters in Elementary Administration from William Woods University. I served as an administrator of a K-12 Tutoring program for sixteen years and have tutored students in a broad range of subjects at the elementary, middle school, high school and college level. While I am passionate about English, Literature and History, I am most passionate about helping students gain the skills and confidence they need to be successful in any academic subject. Every student has a learning potential and by taking time to determine how a student best learns and then tailoring instruction to meet the student's individual needs, learning becomes possible, productive and most often, enjoyable! I am a graduate of Missouri State University. I have my bachelor's degree in Middle School English Education. My teaching certification is in Middle School English 5th-9th grade. I have experience teaching in a Title 1 school district with the majority of my students coming into my classroom below grade level. I am currently a stay-at-home mom and I want to get back into education without having to send my baby to daycare. My absolute favorite thing is to help students learn how to become better writers!

My academic experiences include earning a Master of Science in Biology at Missouri State University, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Maryland, and an Associate of Arts in General Studies with Science Emphasis from Howard Community College.I am a wildlife biologist by training, and I am particularly interested in urban wildlife management and human-wildlife conflict solutions. My experiences include sampling freshwater turtle populations in Oklahoma, reintroducing the protected Alligator Snapping Turtle in Oklahoma, collecting behavior and nesting data on the protected Lesser Prairie-chicken and sampling small mammals and herpetofauna in New Mexico, collecting data on migratory birds on conservation land, and estimating White-tailed Deer populations in Washington, DC.I have always enjoyed teaching and tutoring Biology, Earth Science, and Statistics since I taught my first Biometrics lab as an undergraduate. My pedagogical experiences also includes teaching Biology and Environmental Science at the college level. My classes, labs, and tutoring sessions include discussions on current events, hands-on experience where applicable, and I have an open door policy when it comes to helping students perform their very best in these subjects.My interests include urban wildlife ecology, birding, and citizen science programs. I am currently finishing a project that included sampling small mammals at a local state park, and planning a research project on survival and habitat use by urban eastern cottontail rabbits in local parks. I also enjoy running and bicycling and am training for my first half marathon.

I attained my degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at Missouri State University, where I graduated in December of 2014. Along with this degree, I acquired minors in Chemistry and Business. I am currently enrolled at the University of Missouri-Kansas City as a dental student. I will be graduating with my Doctor of Dental Surgery in May of 2019. While attending Missouri State, I worked in our tutoring center as a science tutor for several years. The majority of students that came for assistance were working with general chemistry. I frequently helped with other courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Genetics. I am also qualified to tutor other science courses such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology. I was also in a fraternity at Missouri State, where I would frequently help younger members with their classes. I would do a lot of paper editing, and I have a very keen eye for grammar and sentence structure. I also have experience with math tutoring and am capable of tutoring all math courses up to Algebra. I have assisted a few of my cousins who are in middle and high school, in addition to assisting some of my friends in preparation for the GRE, particularly with Quantitative Reasoning.My favorite subjects to tutor are Anatomy/Physiology and math. Anatomy and Physiology are fun to tutor because there is a lot of logic involved with them and by ensuring the understanding of the basic concepts with these courses, you can logically work through any complex question presented to you. These classes also get you to think deeper than a surface level or just the memorization of facts, which I believe is what learning actually is. Math is also one of my favorite classes to tutor because I have a very solid understanding of it. Similar to Anatomy and Physiology, math uses a lot of logic, which allows you to understand and learn concepts that will stick with you rather than learning them for a test and then discarding this information.I would like to describe my teaching philosophy as a means of challenging students. It is essential to initially evaluate what information the student knows and what they are struggling with. This enables me to encourage the student and compliment them on what they know, while still targeting the other areas they are not as comfortable with at the same time. Once I know the concepts a student is comfortable with, I can expand from these so students can understand more complex concepts holistically rather than as different segments. I like to challenge students by questioning them as we work through a problem. By challenging students to work through a problem based on their knowledge, it allows them to see possible flaws with their logic so they will not make the same mistake in the future. This also enhances their understanding of a concept because they are seeing where the mistake was rather than me simply pointing it out to them.Outside of academia, I am interested in a variety of things. As I briefly mentioned, I was in a fraternity at Missouri State. I enjoy being very social and networking with a lot of people. I was also in an organization called University Ambassadors in college. With this organization, I served as the public relations team for the university by coordinating and giving tours to prospective students and their families. I am also interested in sports. In high school, I played basketball, baseball, and soccer. I have continued to play sports at a recreational level throughout my college career at Missouri State and University of Missouri-Kansas City. I enjoy going to family functions and embracing those who are close to me.

I am a graduate of Missouri State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Finance graduating summa cum laude. While a student, my professor recommended me to tutor my classmates who were struggling in their Finance courses. Following graduation, I successfully completed the Chartered Financial Analyst exams and earned the CFA charter. These are rigorous exams that cover accounting, economics, corporate finance, and investment. After I earned the charter, I became a course instructor for the CFA review program offered by Stella. In my experience helping others, I have learned to ask questions and make connections to things a student already understands in order to build a foundation for learning new concepts. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy music, movies, hiking, and reading.

I am a graduate of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri, with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. Following that I attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri to receive both my Master's and Specialist degrees in Educational Administration. For the past 8 years I have had the privilege of working in the special education setting for a rural school district approximately 25 minutes from my home. Working with students with special needs as well as those in the regular education setting has given me a broad perspective on student abilities. This has also served to cement my personal belief: "Every child is capable of learning and achieving goals - those goals will just look different for each child!" Within the special education setting, I have spent 5 years in an elementary building K-8, instructing small groups or individuals in all subjects. Most recently, I am extremely blessed to teach in a high school special education math class and co-teach a regular education pre-algebra class. Within this classroom we cover math skills ranging from basic addition/subtraction up to pre-algebra. In recent years I have also been able to teach on an online teaching platform to teach students from another country one-on-one. This is hugely rewarding because you get to form relationships with each student and see growth in ways you don't get to in the traditional classroom setting. I feel God has richly blessed me with opportunities to spend time and travel with friends and family. Which is what I love to do when I'm not in a classroom.

My expertise is rooted in Creative Writing, with an emphasis on Poetry and Nonfiction. For my 3-year MFA program, I filled a similar role, teaching English Composition courses.As a teacher, I like to emphasize creative concepts and free-thinking. As an editor and curator, I work with Infrarrealista Review (currently) and other literary organizations. My freelance experience includes editing, advertising, and copywriting.As a creative writer, I was nominated for a Pushcart Prize twice in 5 years for poetry. For over 10, I have dedicated myself to a career in writing and will continue to do so.

I am a graduate of the University of Central Missouri, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Accounting emphasis. After working in the accounting field, I went on to pursue a career in education. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Elementary Teacher Education and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University. Upon receiving my teaching credentials, I became an elementary teacher and literacy coach and then was promoted to become an elementary principal. I also obtained certification as a K-12 special education teacher and worked as a special education director and teacher.Throughout my career, I have tutored all subject areas in grades K-6 as well as reading, writing, and math in grades 7-8. As an avid reader and writer, I am most passionate about tutoring reading and writing. I love watching students grow as readers building a lifelong passion for reading, and the natural progression in their writing. I also enjoy teaching math and helping students build number sense and confidence in their mathematical abilities.As a passionate educator, I strive to share that passion for learning with students and fellow adult learners.
