Hi, I'm Jeff. I recently graduated from Princeton University studying Operations Research and Financial Engineering with a minor in computer science. Over the course of my four years at Princeton, I gained a breadth of knowledge in the fields of statistics, probability, data science, programming, and optimization.

I have a great passion for learning, and look forward to sharing this passion with my students. I feel as if I succeed when my students do!
I am currently working for a tutoring service called Princeton Tutoring as an independent contractor. As a member of their tutoring base, I instruct students in Math, Physics, AP Exams and most often, the SAT. I have obtained outstanding scores and am confident I can convey instruction and techniques that have worked for me. I have a solid foundation in the Spanish language and am completely fluent in German and Russian.I am interested in Biotech and I am going to be a senior at Princeton University majoring in Molecular Biology.
I started tutoring because I love math and I believe that everyone can learn to feel the same. Mathematics is ubiquitous in our world and contains profound truths that every human being should be able to understand and appreciate. Students who "hate" math seldom truly do; often only a past bad experience has ruined the subject for them. From there, I branched out to the sciences and things only became more fun.In all my tutoring, I strive to emphasize the underlying beauty of the subject. I find that enthusiasm is infectious and is the best answer to precipitously dropping grades. I believe that building confidence and deep conceptual understanding, as well as fostering a rich and mentor-like relationship between tutor and student, is the most enjoyable and most rewarding way to teach; in fact I would like to pursue a career as a professor of physics!
I am passionate about helping students, because the young generation is the future of our society. With the correct learn method and effective help, everybody can achieve the goal they set for themselves.I have mentored many PhD, undergraduates and high school students on their research, and taught graduate and undergraduate courses for near 20 years.I finished my undergraduate study at University of science and Technology of China (Hefei), and obtained my master degree at the Institute of High Energy physics (Beijing) and PhD from Princeton University. I have done some postdoctoral research at Princeton (materials institute), Exxonmobil (Corporate Research, NJ), and Harvard University (Dave Weitz group). The subject I plan to tutor includes math physics, general science and engineering. My favorite subjects are math and physics, because I am good at them. The students can benefit more in them.I believe that everyone learns in their own unique way. I careful observe, and understand the students, give them straight answers, teach them method to research for answers and solve problems effectively. To inspire each student to achieve their full potential.Outside academia, I am interested in enterprise (the contribute of modern technology to economics), travel (to learn various culture, to see various wonders in nature), and listening (news, podcasts) and reading (autobiography, science history, fictions, sci-fi).
As a pre-medical student at Princeton University, I've had significant experience with a vast array of subjects in both learning and teaching roles. I started tutoring in high school and have been hooked ever since! I enjoy helping others succeed in any way I can. After spending a few years helping students in my hometown prepare for the SAT, I've more recently focused on the hard sciences. I've taught students of all ages in the past and I believe it is important to curtail your teaching methods to the student's favorite learning style. Whether you're a visual, auditory, or tactile learner (or some combination of all three!), I'm confident I can assist you in understanding and mastering difficult concepts!I plan to matriculate to medical school in the summer of 2014 after taking a gap year filled with relaxation, a lot of hockey, and hopefully some scuba diving if I'm lucky enough to escape the barren oceanic depths of New Jersey!
I am a passionate undergraduate at Princeton University with a positive approach and cheerful personality. I currently have the privilege of studying psychology, teacher preparation, and musical theater. Simply-put, I am a dedicated student who understands other students and wants to help them learn.I enjoy working with students as it allows me to get to know them and facilitate their growth. I pride myself on my patience and kindness. Furthermore, I am fiercely committed to my students and look forward to finding new ways to make our meetings fun and productive. I look forward to meeting you!
I graduated from Princeton University in the Spring, where I received a B.A. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology with minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Gender & Sexuality Studies. I have been tutoring since 2006, when I joined a program tutoring with a local middle school. Since then, I have worked with high school and college students in a broad variety of subjects. Although I am passionate about all of the subjects that I teach, I have always been especially interested in Biology, and I love working with students to see the big picture connections between the facts of life. In general, my tutoring style focuses on drawing generalizable principles out of the material to help a student internalize and fully absorb content, which I believe makes learning a rewarding activity in its own right. In my spare time, I enjoy reading science books and blogs, trying out new recipes, and exploring the many museums throughout the city.
I graduated college with a bachelor of science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University. I am currently applying for medical school and working towards a masters in public health. I have experience working with many different ages ranging from middle school to college level students. Most of my experience is with math and sciences as well as test prep for English ACT exams. I can tutor in math (pre calculus, trigonometry, algebra, geometry) sciences (biological sciences, chemistry, physics) and English. My favorite subject to tutor is algebra because it is like a puzzle, and who does not like a good puzzle? My teaching philosophy consists of learning about the students' interests and providing a way to relate their interests into the work they are doing so it can be more meaningful to them. I have found that the more a subject means to a student personally, the better they do in the subject. So, in this way it is possible to turn a subject weakness into a strength and passion.Outside of academia, I played college football for 4 years at Princeton University. I also enjoy watching and playing football, basketball, soccer, and horseback riding. In addition to sports, I also have musical interests and have been playing classical piano for 16 years. In addition to this, I enjoy reading mystery and murder mystery books and watching shows in this subject.
I am a highly successful physics and chemistry teacher in Massachusetts Public Schools for over 25 years. I graduated with high honors from Princeton University in Chemical Engineering. My math skills are practical and include graduate courses in differential equations and computer modeling.
I received my B.A. from Princeton University, majoring in Molecular Biology with a pre-medical concentration.I have experience teaching and tutoring middle school, high school, and college-level Math and Science courses.I have flexible hours, love to tutor, and always have a smile on my face. I am here to help YOU, so I am extremely patient and my tutoring sessions are designed to fit my students' individual needs.
I am passionate about giving students all of the resources that they need to succeed academically.
Hello! I am an incoming freshman at Princeton University, and am interested in pursuing my academics in the fields of Neuroscience and Philosophy. I absolutely love to share my experiences and all I have learnt with others, and it would be an honor to do so through tutoring. Everyone has the ability to grow and become better versions of themselves, and a bit of support along the way is always welcome! From mentoring students in Debate and Model United Nations for 5 years, to tutoring them in math, it has been lovely to get to know people, and share their progress and successes with them. Working with children at my dance therapy sessions has been one of my favorite experiences, and I hope to create an equally welcoming and motivating environment for you all!
I recently graduated from Princeton University, where I majored in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. During my time at Princeton, I took part in the peer-tutoring program, through which I tutored many students in a variety of subjects. I also worked extensively with students through an internship with the Maryland Zoo's education department. Since graduating, I have been traveling and working for an environmental nonprofit in NYC. I currently tutor in math, science, and test prep (SAT and ACT). As a tutor, I am patient and collaborative. I work with my students to help them come to the answers on their own, and I find creative and fun ways for students to think about the material in a new light.
I am a graduate of Princeton University, class of 2014. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with a focus on recent American economic history. I was a pre-med, molecular biology major for my first two years at Princeton, and while I ended up deciding not to pursue a career in the sciences, I took many science classes in high school (AP) and in college, and still enjoy these subjects. Since graduating from Princeton, I have moved to Manhattan where I have started a job as an analyst at a private equity firm. I tutored professionally in Princeton for three years, and am excited to continue working with students as a Varsity Tutors tutor. I have experience tutoring elementary school math, Algebra, Algebra II/Pre-calc, English literature, writing (esp. essay editing), Biology (including AP), Chemistry (including accelerated and AP), SAT, and French (through French III). My own educational experience has had a formative impact on my style as a tutor. I attended a Montessori school from pre-school through 8th grade, and was heavily influenced by the focus on independent learning, discovery, and exploration as a way to develop a more thorough and better understanding of academic subjects. I am passionate about making sure that students enjoy what they are learning, and I try to individualize tutor sessions to match the specific needs of each student. Both my parents are teachers (one a violin teacher and another a professor), which has also influenced my ability and desire to help students learn.Beyond school, I studied the violin for 16 years, the piano five years, and sang in choir for six years. I also spent many years in elementary and middle school as a figure skater. In high school, I played tennis and lacrosse. I grew up in Minneapolis, MN, where I lived up until attending Princeton. In my free time now, I love running, vinyasa yoga, cooking, and finding great new food in Manhattan.
A tech nerd who enjoys teaching in my spare time. Completing my fifth degree (third master's) at Columbia while working full-time on managing a learning platform. Teaching and helping people learn is my passion, especially in Mathematics. Mathematics is a language; I would like to teach you how to speak it. If you are interested in learning about strategies for standardized testing, let's connect. Standard testing is about developing a new skill and mindset (I know, my GRE verbal score was in the 99 percentile and I used to teach at Kaplan). Learning should be fun, so I hope that our sessions are light-hearted, insightful, and comfortable for you.
As a non-native speaker of Spanish and French, I recognize the immensely positive impact learning foreign languages can have on one's life. However, learning foreign languages is a challenging, long term process that requires dedication. That dedication is not just the responsibility of the student, but of language teachers as well. As a teacher I am committed to making connections with students in a fun, positive way that fosters not just an appreciation for the language but a solid understanding of language fundamentals, such as grammar. I truly teaching and feel there is no obstacle to learning that is insurmountable. Fun is also a critical part of the process, and I always do my very best to make sure my students are having the best time possible while strengthening their language skills.
I recently graduated from Princeton University with an AB in Religion, and I am currently in the process of applying to Law School. I have tutored middle school and high school students in subjects ranging from 5th grade reading to geometry to the SAT. While I am happy and able to tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about Test Prep because these scores are very important to students, and I enjoy helping them to conquer the test and succeed. My teaching philosophy can be described as a coaching style in which, like athletics, I believe learning the subject matter, good techniques, and constant practice are the best ways to achieving better scores.I love staying active in lots of different ways whether it be playing sports, yoga, or even tough mudders. I like reading about and experiencing Art and Architecture as well as Fashion. I also enjoy experiencing other cultures through food and travel.
I'm a recent graduate of Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School with an MPA and concentrations in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy. I did my undergrad at The Ohio State University where I studied Arabic and Development Economics. Previously, I worked in international affairs in various hotspots throughout the world including Afghanistan and Iraq. I enjoy teaching and empowering students to not only learn the material at hand but also develop skills that can help them solve a variety of other problems.
I am a rising junior at Princeton University pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy with a certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning. I am highly passionate about education: during the academic year, I serve as a volunteer tutor for the Petey Greene Program, which provides educational assistance to those incarcerated in New Jersey prisons; after graduation, I hope to work toward becoming a high school mathematics teacher. This summer, I am interning part-time at IntegrateNYC4me, a nonprofit that seeks to integrate New York schools. I believe that quality educational opportunities should be accessible to all, and I hope to dedicate my career toward realizing this vision! My area of specialty is mathematics, ranging anywhere from basic fractions to Calculus 2. I also have experience in test prep, including two years of serving as an AP US History tutor, and am fluent in Mandarin Chinese. My hobbies include reading, running, and DJing. I love talking about popular music and, more generally, having conversations. As a tutor, I work to create a relationship with my students that is comfortable and friendly while also professional; I want my students to feel as if they can communicate openly with me about their inhibitions, and to understand that I am genuinely invested in their educational success.
Hello fellow students! My name is Peter, and I currently live in Park Slope. I've just moved into the neighborhood with a friend from college after spending a year living in London. Before that I graduated college (Princeton) where I studied History. I'm excited to be back on the East Coast and to get a chance to continue working with students! While I'm comfortable work with students of all ages, my most recent teaching experience was serving as a volunteer teacher's assistant for sixth, seventh, and eight graders in English, Math, and Science. I am a rising Junior at Princeton University who is passionate about the ways in which people learn, which has led me to pursue a degree in Neuropsychology. Through great experiences teaching English in Chiangmai, Thailand for two months and tutoring Calculus I and II through Princeton University's McGraw Tutoring program for two years, I have come across many learning styles and have developed a love for teaching. My strengths include standardized testing, Spanish, Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus) and ACT/SAT/CLEP prep. I have experience working with students who are in grades K-College.
I am a life-long proponent of education and learning. I graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in philosophy. After working for a few years, including in book publishing, I returned to school and completed my M.A. in history at the University of California, Berkeley. While there, I taught history and philosophy classes to undergraduates. I also taught Standardized Test Prep (SAT and GRE) for Summit Tutors and Kaplan.I took a break from school and moved to Europe (Germany). I loved it so much that I decided to continue my education on that side of the Atlantic. In fact, I completed my PhD in history from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 2015. As you can see, I practice what I preach about education :)While I tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about helping students learn how to improve their reading (Literature) and writing (English), as well as their historical knowledge (History). I also have a good track record helping students dramatically improve their SAT scores and their college application essays. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking (a new hobby), going to movies, and seeing live music. I love watching the World Cup and Euro soccer tournaments as well.
I have a passion for helping and serving kids in any way that I can. I have worked with kids for the majority of my life via church ministries, school programs, and in the workplace. I have tutored students successfully and I am ready to dive into a more formal program where I can engage with students on an academic level even more. My philosophy for learning is repetition, motivation, and confidence. And above all of these things, leaning must be enjoyable and fun. Stressful learning will get students nowhere. When I work with children, I immediately establish a bond, a relationship of comfort and excitement. I want my students to be comfortable and to love asking questions. I am sure that my love for kids and my own academic achievements will make me a great tutor for Varsity Tutors. I will help my students to enjoy learning and to succeed in all of their subjects. I also understand that learning is not an overnight process. Patience is certainly required. I know how kids are and I have the ability to read them well. This quality of mine will also aid in my ability to be a successful tutor. I am so excited to be considered for this role and I hope that I can make differences in students' lives.
I'm a doctoral candidate at Princeton University in the German department, where I've taught German language, literature and philosophy since 2008 and regularly received the highest scores for student satisfaction on my teaching evaluations. I majored in Biology and German as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan. I believe it is a teacher or tutor's responsibility to determine a student's individual learning style and tailor her lessons accordingly. I do a brief interview with each client to ascertain whether he or she is a visual, auditory or combination learner and teach with these results in mind. I look forward to working with you to achieve your academic goals!
Princeton University senior and QuestBridge National College Match Finalist who helps students with college admissions strategy and essays, with a focus on clarity, authenticity, and strong personal narratives. I also tutor Algebra, Precalculus, and Geometry, breaking concepts into manageable steps to build real understanding rather than memorization. My approach is patient and structured, and I adapt to each student's goals, whether they are preparing for college applications or building confidence in math.
My name is Gianna and I am a student at Princeton University. I major in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. I received a perfect SAT Math score and was 2nd in my class in high school. I have four years experience tutoring freelance and 2 years teaching for a college prep company where I was the team's youngest tutor prior to Varsity Tutors. My would describe my teaching style as results oriented.

I'm an international Affairs major at Princeton University minoring in Creative Writing and Chinese. I graduated from The Brearley School in New York City in 2011. At Princeton, I work in the writing center tutoring fellow students in critical thinking, analysis, and academic writing. I also have a good deal of experience helping elementary and junior high students with math, reading, and French. Still, writing remains my favorite subject to tutor, largely because of the discussions that accompany it. Outside of the classroom, I'm a varsity cross-country and track runner; an enthusiastic fan of the New Yorker fiction podcast; and am fascinated by military history and policy.
In my experience, the best teachers help their students understand the principles behind the material and work from there. Any subject, from Latin to history to math, can be a grueling exercise in rote memorization, but that's not fun for anybody, so that's not how I teach. I try to de-mystify the subject from the outset, starting with acknowledging and building on what students already know - usually more than they think. I've studied a lot of languages (Spanish, Latin, French, Turkish, Attic Greek, Ancient Hebrew, and, of course, English) and I've learned that a lot of the principles of communication are universal. If you're reading this, you already know one language, so you've made the first step toward learning another! I'd love to help you go further. If it's English that's giving you trouble, I'd also be happy to be of assistance. I wrote over 150 pages of independent research in college and was an editor for multiple publications. Helping people improve their writing and make stronger arguments is something I really love.
I bring two years experience as a tutor in New Jersey and New York. In addition, I worked as a journalist for three years in Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. I believe my experiences make me an excellent listener and a proficient editor.I enjoy working with students on English, Spanish, and Writing. I have a thoughtful and patient approach.I grew up in a trilingual household and am pursuing a graduate degree in Creative Writing. I studied Comparative Literature in college. I look forward to working with students and helping them fulfill their academic goals.
I have been passionate about tutoring since high school, where I began by helping younger students excel in math and science. My love for teaching grew through my involvement with programs like Hatch Tutors in college, where I worked one-on-one with an underprivileged kindergartener to improve their English skills. As a science camp counselor, I had the opportunity to teach children aged 3-12, making complex scientific concepts fun and accessible. Currently pursuing a degree in Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton, I have a strong foundation in math, physics, and chemistry. I enjoy tutoring these subjects, particularly physics and chemistry, as I love sharing my enthusiasm for science. I believe that every student has a unique learning style, and my approach focuses on getting to know my students so I can tailor lessons to their individual needs and interests. I strive to make tutoring sessions engaging and relevant by connecting academic content to real-life examples. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy running and reading, which help me stay balanced and energized. I look forward to helping students succeed by providing personalized and passionate support in their academic journeys.

I'm a recent New York transplant from the wilds of suburban New Jersey. I moved to the city this summer after finishing a Master's Degree in Near Eastern Studies at Princeton, where I also did volunteer work as an English composition teacher. I started teaching and tutoring eight years ago as an assistant Arabic teacher at a language camp, and I've been working in education and/or academia ever since! I especially love teaching writing, reading skills, and foreign languages: I'm a believer in the power of clear and thoughtful communication. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, music, the Middle East, current events, great coffee, and city life.
I am a Biology major who graduated from Princeton University in the summer of 2020 and am set to begin Medical School at Howard University in the summer of 2021. In the meantime I am working as a scribe and clinical assistant for an orthopedic physician. I have been tutoring for years and am comfortable teaching middle school and high school students math and science. Whether it's fine tuning skills or starting from scratch I am able to provide the improvement needed to reach your goals. Diagnostic exams followed by lessons from mistakes made is my primary method of learning and what I have found to be the most successful.
Hi there! My name is Brittney and I'm a graduate of Princeton University (2009), with a degree in Comparative Literature. I'll be receiving my masters degree in English from Grand Valley State University this fall and I'm looking forward to working with students like you! I've been teaching and tutoring students since 2008 and I specialize in English, Reading, Writing, Essays, and College Entrance Test Prep.
I have over 10 years experience tutoring middle and high school math, writing, and test prep. I work with students to deepen their understanding of material so that they can become confident in their work. The goal is not getting any one problem or assignment right, but building the skillset to tackle ANY assignment independently with confidence.
When I was in school, I loved math, but there were some topics I struggled to grasp. I had some really great teachers and tutors help me work through these challenges. My favorite feeling was mastering a topic that I'd worked hard on, and seeing how it went from impossible and scary to second-nature. That type of mastery is what I'd like to help you achieve! I've been intimidated by my fair share of math problems (all the way through an engineering master's degree), but I've learned that you can figure out anything with a little help!
