I fully believe that my interest in the field of academic tutoring is born out of my endless pursuit of knowledge, as well as my strong interpersonal communication skills. With proper guidance, every student possesses the ability to grasp even the most complex of topics, and I have built my tutoring career on this premise. As an experienced tutor, I have continually enjoyed seeing my students achieve lofty goals under my instruction.I specialize in tutoring biology, chemistry, physics, and economics for high school students. In addition to this, I also tutor students in college level general chemistry, general biology, organic chemistry, introductory physics, economics and for the MCAT exam. I excelled in undergraduate coursework pertaining to these subjects and have prior experience in assisting pre-professional (pre-medical and pre-nursing) students looking to succeed in their required general science classes. My tutoring methodology is dependent on the establishment of a strong conceptual framework, and subsequent application of theory through practice problems (the best way to master any pure science). I frequently employ the use of problem sets and practice tests to monitor my students' progress.

Graduate of St. Louis University with a Degree in Chemical Biology and Pharmacology I know from experience how difficult chemistry and biology can be. These were not topics that just came naturally for me, and during college I had to spend a lot of time sitting down with these topics and trying to work them out in my head. Because of this, I have a lot of empathy to students struggling in their courses, and I enjoy working as a tutor who can help students who may feel overwhelmed. About lessons: Lessons with me are very flexible. I am willing to: - Create a guided lesson for you reviewing what you covered in class and break down difficult terminology in text-books and slideshows - Create student-specific study materials and study guides if you feel the resources available to you in class are not sufficient -Help guide you through your homework and practice exams If your goals for a course change over time, I will adapt to your needs as a student!

Ciao! I'm San, and I am a medical student at the Sapienza University of Rome. During my undergraduate years, I completed my Bachelor's of Science in chemical biology and pharmacology and worked as a teaching assistant, research technician, resident advisor, and taekwondo instructor. Currently, I tutor elementary school to college level students in various subjects, including SAT, biology, chemistry, and physics. I personally obtained test scores of 1560 for SAT, 34 for ACT, 5's for AP calculus BC, chemistry, and physics 1, 2, and C mechanics. When I tutor, I recognize the varying levels of K-12 and college education around the world. With this in mind, I help students build a solid foundation on which they can progress their learning to the next level. Whether from algebra to trigonometry or biology to biochemistry, a solid footing is essential to be able to fully understand and internalize new topic matter. This solid foundation comes hand-in-hand with critical thinking skills, the ability to tackle problems outside of immediate comfort level, and the self-confidence to ask questions on new and unfamiliar concepts. For me, I find teaching a truly gratifying experience. I absolutely love seeing my students' "eureka" moments, when all the pieces fall into place and something just *clicks*. I don't think I will ever get tired of it!

With my many years of teaching experience, I have learned that the impact I have on my students is immense. A teacher has the power to make or break a child's mind and soul My choice is always to create. I believe that the young mind has the right to be given an opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge they can use throughout their lives. Every student no matter where they come from, what values they hold, and what culture they practice, they should have the opportunity have their minds cultivated and opened. It is only in this regard that they will have the knowledge and ability to think critically, believe in themselves and become citizens that contributes to society's well being.

I believe that understanding is more important than memorizing, so I strive to teach all of my students in terms of comprehension. I also believe in the importance of patience when working with students, as I feel that in order to master a concept, time must be taken to manipulate various ideals so that the student can successfully answer a related question at any degree of difficulty. I recently graduated at St. Louis University with a BS in both Health Management and Biology. There I was a biology teaching assistant, however I am continuing my education at Cornell University in the Fall to obtain my masters in health administration. I am currently an undergraduate student at Saint Louis University studying Neuroscience. I am a part of their Medical Scholars program, an 8 year BS/MD program (if you have any questions regarding my program, I would love to talk about it). As a college student, I have been involved with organizations like the ASBMB and AED that place an emphasis on biology and biochemistry and I am also heavily involved with service organizations across St. Louis and Houston. I am an avid sports fan (do not try to debate me on the Texans or the Rockets) and love to play basketball, tennis, and football. The outdoors have always been a part of my life as an Eagle Scout and backpacker, so I love anything to do with nature and have gone on my fair share of trips across the country. I have taken most AP courses available in the AP curriculum and am pretty familiar with today's high school curriculum, seeing as I am only two years removed from it. I love tutoring subjects in math, chemistry, and biology, all courses I have taken at the college level and done well in. I know these subjects can be imposing at first, but there are always tricks to solving problems and I hope to impart some of the ones I like to use. I like to think I'm a pretty fun guy, so don't be scared to learn from me; I believe that learning should be fun, so I will try my best to ensure that you enjoy learning with me.

Hi, I am Devin, a mechanical engineering junior at Saint Louis University! I have been a tutor over the course of the last 8 years. I have helped students ranging from K-12th grade. My teaching style is very adaptable. I like to create a space where students can ask questions and feel free to not understand. Asking questions in my opinion is the best way to learn. Whether a student needs visual representations of concepts or prefers to understand the underlying theory, I frame questions to match their learning style. My favorite way to engage students is by using things that happen in their everyday life to explain a specific topic or subject that they are struggling with. Intelligence is the torch of wisdom and what you know is something that can never be taken away from you. My goal is to help young minds grow and also gain the tools they need to gain better understandings on their own.

I began to enjoy math and physics during my sophomore year of high school when I encountered trigonometry and algebra 2. Up until this point in high school, I had skated by because I had not been challenged sufficiently enough to pique my interest. When I began to struggle with concepts in this class, I knew I had met a subject that demanded more rigor than a half hour breezing through notes. Since then, I have grown to love math and it's applied version, engineering, through rigorous education and job experience. My path took me to Saint Louis University where I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and later to Washington University in Saint Louis, where I graduated with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. I've had many opportunities throughout this time to both learn and teach and I am passionate about both. I have been a teaching assistant, tutor, researcher, guest lecturer, researcher, and am currently a practicing engineer. Some things about me: I've resided in Saint Louis my whole life and am very familiar with the area. I love the outdoors and take runs around my neighborhood every chance I get. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, camping, and mountain climbing. I love to read and learn things that are outside of my immediate skill set. As a tutor, I look forward to encountering various learning styles and adapting my own teaching style to the needs of my students. I believe that tutoring students is an art, and I am an accomplished artist. I usually connect with most students quickly after spending a short amount of time with them, partly because I understand what it is like to face struggles in school. I'm not perfect; no one is. Knowing you've made a mistake and admitting it shows that everyone has room to learn more, and I understand that not every approach works with every student. Patience is a key quality for any teacher/tutor, and in that quality, I excel. I work well with all different types of students, from those who need to be challenged to those who need to catch up. And I work well with all of them. Learning is a life-long journey, let's go together.

I am a firm believer that learning should be fun and not boring or unenjoyable, while still including valuable education and information that will be retained instead of simply regurgitated on a test and then promptly forgotten. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing video games, and enjoying the company of my family, best friend, and cat(s).

As a dedicated undergraduate student at Saint Louis University - Madrid Campus, pursuing a double major in Psychology and Spanish, I am passionate about becoming a clinical psychologist and fostering a love for learning in my students. With over four years of tutoring experience, I specialize in English (and related subjects such as reading and writing) and Spanish, as I have served as a public and private tutor for ESL students and a Spanish teacher's assistant. I am also comfortable tutoring for lower-level math classes. My approach emphasizes making learning engaging and accessible; I believe that a fun and interactive environment leads to the greatest student success. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, playing soccer, crocheting, and spending quality time with friends and family. This is my second year being a Varsity Tutor, and I am excited to inspire and support my students on their educational journeys!

Tutoring has been one of my favorite ways to connect and engage with my fellow students. I have tutored throughout middle and high school and even worked as a tutor in undergrad at Saint Louis University, where I received a B.S. in Biology. I am thrilled to continue tutoring during my medical school career now as well. It can be scary to ask for help, but I believe this is an excellent sign of strength and determination to improve one's skills and knowledge. My position as the tutor is to help build that confidence and caliber in subject areas that may seem confusing, so I want to always create a comforting, engaging, and individualized learning environment to make the session more efficient.
