Hi! I am Rhonda. I graduated with a BFA in Communication Arts in 2008 from Savannah College of Art and Design. Since then, I have navigated the world as a free-thinker, traveling to Europe and Asia to take advantage of cross-cultural opportunities that expand my mind. Most recently, I spent 2018-2021 teaching English abroad in South Korea. I learned a lot about being a teacher at that time, mainly that I have a passion for teaching and learning alike. What I love most about teaching is the students! I love when my students smile, but most of all, I like when they have fun during my lessons. I have a passion for the English language to the very articulated point of counting out exact change with words by being succinct. From what I've seen, communication is easiest to misunderstand when spoken. It is important to me, that students are encouraged through positive reinforcement, especially if they are frustrated with homework! As for me, personally, in my spare time, I enjoy blogging, reading, creative writing and creating digital art.
I graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 2011 with a degree in Media Communication Technology and a Minor in English. My education at ESU taught me about various levels of video production as well as some web design and basic coding, photography and photo editing, and writing creative nonfiction and fiction. At the Savannah College of Art & Design I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television, where I specialised in cinematography skills as well as writing for the screen. I've been working with other students since I was a student myself! At SCAD, I was a Teacher's Assistant for the Steadicam Class, so I helped co-instruct the students on proper technique utilizing specialised camera gear. I also worked on the side as a developmental script editor, giving notes to students on their screenplays before they moved on to their thesis films or submitting their work to festivals and competitions. Outside of school I've found a number of ways to teach. That includes being a guest speaker at networking events, leading discussions on the industry I primarily work in (the film industry). That also includes teaching in-person workshops at my local library in the Dekalb Library System. As far as my tutoring technique is concerned, I like to ask a student where they stand currently on a subject, and build towards better understanding of that subject so they can succeed. Sometimes that requires reviewing the basics so we can make sure there is a strong foundation to build upon. Outside of academia, I enjoy watching movies, playing video games, as well as going hiking and kayaking!

I felt lost after graduating from Savannah College of Art & Design with my BFA in Photography. Not because I regretted majoring in photography, but because I didn't find my niche. You know, the one avenue of photography that you are supposed to stick to and focus on as a career. I tried a lot of different genres of photography--fashion, music, event, headshot, commercial, food--to finally realize what I am supposed to focus on in photography, teaching & art.My personal mission: Promote creativity and confidence through photography as a process and art form. It starts with learning the basics of the camera, exposure, and composition. I would love to see you in class.
I am a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Art Studio. I am currently working toward my Masters of Arts in Game Development at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I am deeply passionate about helping students unleash their full potential. Witnessing the "aha" moments when they grasp a challenging concept is very rewarding. I tutor a range of subjects from computer science principles and programming languages (C, C++, Java, etc.) to game development in Unity and 3D art in various software. My favorite subject to tutor is Blender because of my passion for 3D art and the software. It has helped unlock so much creativity for myself and I enjoy being able to pass that experience on to others. My main philosophy to teaching is adaptability and patience. I believe everyone's learning style is unique and an effective tutor is able to adapt their teachings to many different kinds learning.
I am currently a Vietnamese interpreter. I love helping people, especially people from my community and people who wants to learn about my culture. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design. Aside from working as an interpreter, I also worked in the field I got a degree - I am currently a 2D artist and color designer for the Tuttle Twins Show - an animated production that aims to teach kids lessons about principles of economy. I love working with kids and helping them develop. Therefore, I am very passionate about my current jobs, and I want to look for more tutoring opportunities where I can do this. I have had experience tutoring Math when I was in college. And while taking this job, I have earned Level 1 Ceritfied Tutor certification from the College Reading and Learning Association.
