I graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Cartooning and Illustration. I dedicate at least an hour (usually many more) each day to writing and illustrating comics. In addition to the arts, I am passionate about languages. I have spent much of the past three years to teaching myself Spanish. I pursued my interest in Spanish and language learning by receiving my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. This experience broadened my worldview and gave me a greater insight into language learning.I have experience teaching a wide range of students, from new learners to intermediate and advanced. I have worked with students one on one, as well as with larger classes with a variety of learner types. My first priority is student understanding; to ensure that my students learn everything that they need to succeed, as well as when and how to use what they have learned.I believe that, aside from its everyday practical uses, second languages can offer new opportunities and experiences. It is my goal to share my language skills in an interesting and engaging way.

I am a writer, art critic, and graduate student living in New York City. When I was getting my undergraduate degree at Goddard College I was dedicated to my band and developing my artwork, which eventually led me to a desire to write fiction, poetry and essays about art.Since moving to New York after graduating from Goddard, I have worked with several art publications as an editor and freelance writer. I love creative work of all kinds, and enjoy helping others develop their creativity. I work with many students who are pursuing careers in the arts who wish to develop their writing skills, or expand their knowledge about art history, philosophy, literature, psychology and world history. I am a Graphic Design professional with over 30 years of experience. I have a great deal of experience with the Adobe Creative Suite programs Photoshop and Illustrator. I previously was an instructor at School of Visual Arts for Digital Color for Cartoonists and at Lehman College where I taught Advanced Photoshop. I have an MFA in Computer Art from School of Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Design with a concentration in Graphic Design from SUNY College at Buffalo.

Having worked on the Shrek, Madagascar, and Ice Age franchises, I have thirty years of animation experience as an Animation Director, and I can teach animation to all age groups, having had extensive teaching experience before. My forte is guiding students on how to break into the visual arts and animation industry. Throughout my career, I have been an advisor and mentor to young artists whose top goal was to either get into a top art college or get a job at a studio. By looking at a student's portfolio and/or demo reel, I can pinpoint exactly what their strengths are and recommend any additional skills they may need to acquire. I have been successful in helping some hard-working students acquire internships and full-time positions at well-known companies. My proudest achievement is helping my own daughter apply to art colleges and get in with generous scholarship offers. In addition, I have critiqued students' artwork and animation in helping them refine them for their portfolios. Having an enthusiastic, positive attitude, I am excited to guide the next generation into this most rewarding field.

I was born in Rockville Centre, NY to a German-Irish father and Italian mother. I spent the first few years of my life in East Meadow, NY before moving to Lake Worth, FL where my two younger brothers were born.During middle school, I began skateboarding and have been on a board ever since. After high school, I worked at the local skatepark running programs and taught after school programs at Palm Beach Day Academy. After studying Motion Picture and Television Production at Palm Beach State College, I worked in television as a cameraman and editor before joining the US Air Force in 2009.After my Honorable discharge from the military in 2012 I returned to New York to study design at the School of Visual Arts. I earned my BFA in 2016 and immediately enrolled again to pursue my Masters degree in Art Education. When Im not studying, I am teaching art and skateboarding at SKATEYOGI and through my own private lessons. I also am the editor of NYskateboarding.com.

I'm a NYS certified Spanish teacher. I recently graduated from Manhattanville College with a 3.8 GPA and a Masters in Education. I am a fluent Spanish speaker from Uruguay and I love to share my knowledge of the Spanish language and culture with anyone who would like to learn. My lessons are fun, hardly ever boring, and are unique to every students learning style. I incorporate everything from art to science in my language lessons because I want to make sure the student understands the subject matter and has fun while doing so. In my free time I like to practice Brazilian Jiujitsu, play guitar, and most importantly play with my 18 month old son (this one is my favorite). I am enthusiastic, patient, and will do everything I can to make sure my students leave with a clear understanding of the language concepts.

Previously, I received a BA magna cum laude from New York University, where I majored in Comparative Literature. This fall, I will be entering a PhD program at Brown University to study Modern Culture and Media.
