I am a graduate of St. Olaf College, with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Mathematics. Following my passion of teaching and working with students, I also studied to become licensed to teach math and physics. I have spent time working with students in St. Paul who are struggling to meet grade level standards, students who need an extra boost for an AP test, and I spent an entire semester at a school in India working with students in math, physics, and SAT prep. I really enjoy tutoring students through their preparation for standardized tests. AP, ACT, and SAT are tests where a quick understanding of the content is necessary, but students also need wise strategies for working under time pressure, narrowing down answers, and understanding what the questions are really saying. I value critical thinking as my philosophy of education, because students who have developed the ability to reason through new concepts and be confident in the conclusions they reach are not only well-prepared for tests, but also well-prepared for everything they encounter in life.

I am currently a student at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and receiving my B.A. in French with a concentration in educational studies and linguistics. My love for french and francophone cultures began when I was a student at a french immersion elementary school. I have been studying french for 15 years already! My hobbies include traveling, singing, playing in orchestra, hiking, swimming and spending time with friend and family. I dream of teaching english abroad after graduating from St. Olaf, maybe in France, Switzerland, Morocco or another francophone country. I'm in love with Minneapolis and the Twin Cities and hope to come back to the cities to get my Master's degree.
Working with children for over ten years, I have found a passion for helping students overcome adversities by excelling academically and building behavioral skills to succeed. I love the puzzle of addressing my students' areas of need by monitoring progress, individualizing instruction, and using their natural strengths to specifically tailor their instruction. I also enjoy empowering students and their parents by utilizing their mutual goals and values as a part of our lessons.Following earning my Masters of Education at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College, I have worked as a certified Special Education teacher for students with learning and behavioral disabilities in 4th-8th grade. I have worked with children in a variety of settings from babysitting and nannying to tutoring in math, reading, and other content areas, and I enjoy working with all ages. It is essential to me to have a professional yet compassionate, positive relationship with my students to truly access their academic potential. I focus on structured behavior management, positive reinforcement and goal making. It is my priority to provide highest caliber of services to match my students' and parents' goals.
I have always a passion for curiosity. The buzzword "lifelong learner" has been around the education world for quite some time. But I want to have a lifelong curiosity. I always want to know things work and how to better understand things. I bring that same passion for curiosity to everything that I do, especially teaching and tutoring. Nothing brings me greater joy than being able to bring someone closer to their capability. My biggest teaching motto has been: "I don't teach based on what I know my students can already. I teach based on where I know they are capable of going and what they are capable of doing." I believe that people should always strive to know more. Curiosity makes the world a better and, frankly, a more fun place. If I can instill that lifelong curiosity into even one of my students, I would have reached success.I also firmly believe that conversation is a huge part of a successful teaching/learning process. No one knows how the students learn better than the students themselves. I constantly check in with how students are doing, often before I tell them how I think they are doing. This constantly dialogue allows us to form a better connection and does nothing but allow me to teach and the student learn better. I want to know their goals, interests, hobbies, learning styles, and anything and everything in between. This process is not a dictatorship but a partnership.I look forward to getting know my students and helping them on their educational journey!!!!
I am a certified high school math teacher who is looking for summer tutoring opportunities. I have experience teaching and tutoring math through the elementary- high school level, and I especially enjoy the opportunity to work one-on-one with students.

This targeted approach typically leads to faster progress and deeper understanding of the material.
