I attended the University of Tampa to attain a Bachelor's Degree in English and Communications. I then moved on to certified teaching of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to students of all ages. In continued onto graduate school at Hofstra University, where I graduated with a Master's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations and Media Studies.As aforementioned, I have worked with students of all ages on a variety of subject matter. I currently teach at an elementary school in Chuluota, FL. I have experience tutoring in areas such as reading, writing, literature and grammar and, as it is a passion of mine, I work hard to make it as enjoyable to the student as it is for myself! I love reading!I love teaching these subject areas, along with any other challenges brought onto me. I'm sure this is due to the fact that I am passionate about continual learning. As the phrase goes, you learn something new every day! As a teacher and tutor, you begin to realize that not only are you extending your knowledge to others, but gaining insight and perspective into how to interpret things through a different opinion or view.I am very up to date on pop culture and believe this is an incredibly important as a teacher, as correlating learning into every day entertainment is the best way to attain a student's full attention. I am a graduate of the University of Tampa with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in English. I also graduated from Wilkes Community College with an Associate in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about working with students and helping them grow in their knowledge and understanding at the elementary school level. I have worked for over 20 years with students including homeschooling my own son. I have had the opportunity to live in many places and have been a substitute teacher in several states as well as overseas. I also began my career as a teacher's aide in a preschool for 2 years while completing my education. I enjoy using various teaching methods for student progress.

Coming from the Dominican Republic, Spanish is in my DNA, grounding me in a vibrant culture. When I made the jump to the U.S. at 19, I initially chased a career in medicine, a path I started back home. But life had other plans, and I ended up diving into molecular biology after the move. Surprisingly, I found myself knee-deep in tech design at a major airline, where I fine-tuned my knack for problem-solving. Now, as I dive into a master's in business intelligence and data analytics, I'm all about turning numbers into action. I am a sophomore at the University of Tampa pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus in pre-dental studies. I have always enjoyed mathematics and problem-solving, especially in moments when I am able to help others understand concepts that once felt confusing. Student centered learning is the focus of my instruction. In my experience, a student's individual needs and personality drive instruction. Once an educator has identified the student's strengths and weaknesses, they can use the student's strengths to support their weaknesses. For the past thirty-three years, I have educated students ranging in age from five through adulthood, including those at the graduate level. I am a certified educator in Illinois, and hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Florida Southern College, and a Master of Arts in Reading Education from the University of South Florida. In addition to my graduate degrees, I have been trained as a reading coach to certified educators in reading instruction. To add to my professional credentials, I am a published author in association with Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society for educators, and I have been featured on the podcast channel entitled, New Teacher Talk on the topic of Virtual Tutoring. Literacy has become my passion in education. In working with students as a Varsity tutor for the past four years, I have been able to increase their reading and writing skills by two or three grade levels plus. Presently, I am experiencing success with students who are challenged in reading and writing because of issues with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD. I also work with students who are at different verbal levels of communication. No matter where a student is in their educational development, once they have attained some level of proficiency in both reading and writing skills, they possess the tools of a self-learner.
