I am a graduate of University of Texas at Arlington. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biological Chemistry with a minor in Biology. When I was an undergraduate, I found myself doing well in math classes and biochemistry. I also helped classmates that had trouble with those subjects. So, I decided to help more others by working as a Supplemental Instruction Leader. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all philosophy. I think every student needs to find a learning style that works best for them. With this philosophy in mind, I taught my students to figure out their strengths and weaknesses when it came to their own learning and abilities. Once they find out their learning styles, students know how to approach the materials in a way that works best for them. These approaches helped students learn better in multiple subjects. I enjoy Bullet Journaling and camping.

I am passionate about helping students succeed and excel in their studies. While getting my undergrad in English from the University of Texas at Arlington I was a writing tutor for college students, many of whom were foreign students still new to the language. I loved helping all of my students succeed in their classes, become better writers, and helping improve their confidence. My philosophy for tutoring is that I believe my sessions should be client led; that is, the client calls the shots and I am an impartial reviewer. I will ask what the student wants to focus on in the session and we will collaborate on mutually agreeable changes to the document. I won't overstep my place as a tutor- this is their essay, sometimes personal in nature, and I will be fair and nice!

I believe that knowledge is the foundation upon which everyone can stand. Pursuit of knowledge is the greatest duty we have. Understanding that, knowing the areas that we lack can bring us our greatest fortune, and therefore self reflection is a tool we must use. When I tutor I focus on the concepts and ideas that the student feels uncomfortable with, because that is where the most growth can occur. Practice makes us better, and guidance helps us grow.

I am a high school science teacher and can tutor in science, history, ESL, Math, and introductory Spanish. I enjoy tutoring students to help them achieve their goals. Working one on one or in small groups allows me to focus on the students needs and ask the right questions to explain material they do not understand. I have been a tutor for three years at the current school that I teach at. When tutoring in science, I try to explain the steps necessary to solve problems and understand the material. I connect concepts to knowledge that the student already has. This helps the student to build on their frame of knowledge. I can tutor high school or the college level. I am excited about helping students learn and would be delighted to tutor you.

I'm a masters student studying Linguistics at the University of Texas in Arlington. My research areas are primarily in Syntax and Psycholinguistics, investigating language at a very fundamental level. My undergraduate degree was in the same field, and was received from the same institution. In my time as a Linguistics undergrad, I worked with students as an Arabic tutor, helping them to better grasp grammatical concepts at the college level.Fundamentally, I believe that students are smart enough to grasp any concept, no matter how difficult. Oftentimes, teachers are unable or unwilling to craft explanations that best fit the mental framework of a student. Enter Tutors, highly individualized instructors able to fit the needs of each individual student, and allow them to excel to the best of their ability.

I have been a registered nurse since 2009. I graduated from Baylor University with my BSN and graduated from University of Texas at Arlington with my MSN Nursing Education in 2020. I have a lot of experience with patient care, test anxiety, writing nursing exam questions, and advice on how to dissect and perform well on nursing school, licensing, and certification exams. My patient care experience helps as an instructor because I love bringing real life examples to nursing concepts. I enjoy teaching immensely, particularly on nursing topics. That is not something I thought I would say when I was going through nursing school! I look forward to one-on-one and group sessions because I think it is a great opportunity to focus on the educational needs of the individual learner. From October 2009 through August 2014, I worked as a tutor (20+ hours per week) with a highly respected tutoring company. I tutored students of all ages in the areas of reading, writing, and math. I also prepared students for the SAT and ISEE. In September 2013, I started my own business doing private tutoring. I have continued to work with students of all ages in the areas of reading, writing, and math, and I have continued to prepare students for the SAT and ISEE. In general, about half of my students are doing test preparation and half are getting some kind of help with school. At the tutoring center where I worked, we had a number of students who were being tutored in order to become very advanced in their studies at school and to gain admission to highly selective colleges by getting top-notch scores on their SAT. We also had students who were struggling to do well in their classes and therefore needed help with their homework and with understanding the material they were learning in school. I worked successfully with both kinds of students. My approach to tutoring is definitely gentle, but also firm in terms of expecting my students to work hard during the tutoring sessions and to work diligently on any homework I might assign. I am sensitive to the learning styles of my students and do everything I can to communicate in a way that makes sense to them. I often make use of visuals and manipulatives in teaching various concepts. My goal is to enable students to really understand the material they are studying. I am happy to use whatever school or other materials that parents and/or students would like. I am also prepared to suggest additional materials that might be helpful for a particular student in a specific subject area. I am familiar with a number of very helpful resources. Before working at the tutoring center, I was actively involved in the homeschooling community. I homeschooled my older two children through high school and my younger two children through 8th grade. I also taught enrichment classes in the areas of math, science, music, and art to students of all ages in a homeschool co-op, for a total of eight years.

I am a recent PhD graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where I also received my Bachelor of Science in Physics. I studied the physics of solid matter as it pertains to materials for solar energy applications. Throughout my program, as well as my undergraduate career, I had a tendency to form and lead study groups, which helped me instill the subject matter of my courses through teaching and debate, and ensured my academic success. During my undergraduate career, I worked at the Physics Clinic, where I tutored technical physics 1 & 2. During my graduate career, I thought modern physics and electronics labs, worked as a math and physics tutor at the local community college, taught SAT math for a non-profit organization, and gave private lessons in math, physics, and programming to both high school and college students. There is not one subject that I enjoy tutoring over others, as I am equally interested in all things. I practice patience and utmost respect with all my clients and strive to motivate, encourage, and support each student on their path to higher education. I am flexible in my teaching and quickly tailor my approach to the unique needs of my students. Outside of academia, I play music, read foreign books, study foreign languages, cook, and exercise.

It hurts my heart every time I see another student struggle with school work (especially math and chemistry), and that is why I wanted to become a tutor. I love helping other people, and I like the one on one sessions with students so I can make sure they are getting the help they need to succeed. I am a college student at the University of Texas at Arlington, I am pursuing a bachelors degree in Chemistry with a minor in Material Science Engineering. Although in credits I am a year ahead, which means I am technically a sophomore (and I am on track to graduate a year early), this is only my second semester in college. My teaching method is to not answer the question for the student but to ask them questions and bring up fundamental ideas in the subject so the student is able to answer the homework problem on their own. With this teaching style the student will become an independent thinker and will be able to answer a multitude of different problems by being able to think them through. This will also build a students confidence in the subject because the student will eventually be able to answer the question themselves without having to refer to notes which will make them feel as smart as they are becoming!

My academic credentials include a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Aeronautical Engineering from Stanford University. I am retired from 40+ years of engineering. The last thirty years was working in the flight simulation industry. I had responsibility for doing mathematical modeling of many systems which kept my my math and science skills well exercised. The flight simulation experience also involved frequent use of computer languages such as Ada, C, C++ and less frequent use of other computer languages such as python and java. Tutoring was part of the engineering environment as new engineers were assigned to my group. I earned extra money during my college years tutoring. Though money is not the end objective since retirement, I enjoy tutoring to remain active and challenged. The interaction with students is invigorating. Tutoring gives me a sense of contributing to the well-being of others. It is offering up my skills to help others get a strong start on a career. My tutoring style is to explain principles and possibly do a sample problem, but then observe the student apply the principles to work a problem, gently nudging them in the right direction. I prefer to tutor math and physics, but will not shy away from computer languages and other science applications.
