I believe in creating the best for ourselves. The world is a difficult place that we underestimate when we are young. At every corner we shall be tested. With a positive attitude, discipline and hard work we can overcome those obstacles. But we should find ways to enjoy ourselves in the process. It's my job to create a comfortable environment where a student can feel at ease and willing to take risks, to experiment, to fail and then get back up. People best learn by falling down. I encourage mistakes and risks. If it's an essay, write whatever you feel. I'm here to tutor, so we can just go back and edit work until it's right. If we never give our students a sense of success and ownership over their work it will hard for them to feel invested in it. I want every student walking away from a sessions saying "I earned that."

I am an experienced teacher, lover of languages, and taco enthusiast. Born and raised in Texas, I recognized the value of bilingualism from a young age, as well as my interest in teaching. Teaching high school Spanish to a mix of second language learners, heritage learners, and native speakers has allowed me to simultaneously experience two of the most beautiful moments in the world. The first is the "light bulb" moment, when a student grasps a difficult concept, and the second is what I like to call the "Hablas espaol?" moment, when an instant connection is formed with someone who immediately feels comfortable in the knowledge that you understand their mother tongue. I have been working in the field of education as either a tutor or a teacher since 2013. I have tutored and/or taught Spanish, English as a Second Language, and English writing skills. I graduated from Texas State University in 2016 with bachelor's degrees in Spanish and English, and from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2019 with my master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). During the 2016-17 school year, I had the opportunity to teach English in Spain on a Fulbright grant, which exponentially expanded my view of what it means to be a Spanish speaker in terms of linguistic variety and taught me the value of stepping outside of my comfort zone to learn more about other cultures. I also take advantage of every available opportunity to increase my knowledge of linguistics, language teaching and pedagogy, and Spanish as a heritage language. To this end, I served as the vice president of the Texas Language Education Research conference (TEXLER) in 2019, and participated in the 2020 NHLRC heritage language teacher workshop.
I am a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's in Biotechnology and Commercialization. Throughout my academic journey, I've had the privilege of working as a teaching assistant, where I've helped students tackle complex topics with confidence. I have also mentored peers in STEM fields, emphasizing analytical problem-solving and real-world applications of science and math. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about biology, math, and data analytics because they provide the foundation for so many innovations and discoveries. In my experience working with students, I strive to make learning engaging and approachable by breaking down difficult concepts and tailoring lessons to individual needs. I believe education is transformative, empowering students to achieve their goals and pursue their dreams. In my free time, I enjoy exploring advancements in skincare, staying active, and experimenting with creative hobbies like DIY projects and cooking.
My educational background includes majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering and I am at my last semester at pursuing my Doctorate Degree in the same field . Earlier in 2016 I also have graduated with an MBA in Finance.I have always been intrigued by Physics and Mathematics . I believe every action can be explained by physics and most events can be predicted by Maths. I enjoy teaching but it also gives me an opportunity to interact with the bright minds and learn their perspective on things. I believe in adopting different technologies in educating my students. I believe in patience and am willing to invest my time to ensure that my students attain their potential.
Hi! My name is Anthony Nwankwo. I'm a twenty five year old Computer Science student living in Houston, TX. I live a pretty active life, with most of my hobbies being centered around sports. However, when I'm not on the court or the field, I'm usually behind a computer screen. Having two younger siblings, I've been tutoring in some capacity for my entire life. Also, I was a supplemental instructor for a calculus 1 class earlier in college. While that was my only real tutoring "job" prior to being hired by Varsity, I'm confident that my unofficial experience is enough to prepare me for any challenges your student and I face together.

Thanks for looking at my profile!I have been teaching for about nine years. After earning my PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 2014, I taught college level American literature, both introductory courses and advanced seminars, at Williams College for two years. Prior to that, I taught composition and American literature, as well as research methods, at UC Berkeley for seven years. I have also been an active scholarship reviewer, reading and scoring scholarship essays. While I have changed career paths, I love to teach and look forward to these one-on-one tutoring sessions.
I finished my college education in 2001 by earning my Ph.D. in economics from Texas Tech University. I have been a college-level economics teacher beginning in 1992 and have been teaching economics students since then. Over the years, I have learned much more about the economics discipline itself, how economists do economics. Throughout my career, I have treated all my students as adults, respecting their ideas and opinions, having learned as much from them as they have learned from me. Believing all learning is initiated from a point of knowledge, I want to know where students are in their programs, what are their strengths and weaknesses especially. I help them leverage their strengths in addressing their weaknesses. This in the end makes for a more confident student, someone who not only believes they can accomplish that which they face on their own, but one who will overcome their challenges and will accomplish their goals. This approach is what I have taken over my lifetime in regards my own learning needs and as lifetime learner. I attest this approach to life has been enjoyably fruitful.
As a daughter and granddaughter of professors and teachers, I've always had a legacy and passion for teaching. I have sharpened my skills to help you or your child to beat the system and get the best grades and scores that they can achieve.

I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Since then, I have worked as an iPhone App Developer independently as a contractor hired to lead application development as well as a team member on corporate mobile software projects. I have also worked as a Security Consultant with an emphasis on mobile and web application penetration testing. My passion is software, which has led me to becoming skilled at platform-independent programming. During college, I worked as both a Research Assistant as well as a lab instructor and tutor of freshman-level Java programming but I frequently helped students of other programming languages such as C/C++. I greatly enjoyed helping others during that time, and am excited that the opportunity to tutor has arrived once more. In addition to Computer Science and general computer topics, I am able to help students with English, in particular writing. Outside of programming and writing, I enjoy riding bikes, martial arts, Japanese, and cooking. I think a lot of things are easier than we make them out to be, and I hope to impart ways to encourage and improve students' mastery of their chosen topics. Education is very important to me, as when it is done well it is a lifelong journey.
I am a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Physics, with minors in Mathematics and Computer Science. In the fall of 2025, I will begin graduate school to pursue my PhD in Physics. Physics and Mathematics are the subjects I am most passionate about tutoring. I have been tutoring Physics and Mathematics since high school, specifically AP Physics 1, 2, and C, as well as AP Calculus AB and BC. I also volunteered as a tutor at Mathnasium, where I tutored Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. I've also enjoyed helping my younger sister with Calculus and Physics throughout her high school and college years. I have worked with students from middle school all the way to advanced college levels. Seeing others experience that 'aha' moment when they understand a complex concept brings me such joy, and it's the reason I'm so passionate about tutoring and mentoring. My philosophy is that there is no such thing as a basic or silly question: I know what it feels like to look at a problem and not even know where to start. Education is about learning new things, and if I am able to help someone learn something new, I've achieved my goal as a tutor. Outside of academia, I love to play and watch soccer: my favorite team is FC Barcelona.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Concentration in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During my final years as an undergraduate, I worked as a supplemental instructor in a Biology course for Non-Bio Majors. After graduation, I attended Texas A&M College of Dentistry, where I tutored high schoolers and undergraduates who were preparing for the Reading Comprehension section of the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). I was honored with Tutor of the Year award by the students and faculty members of that cohort. I am passionate about learning and sharing the developing notions of what it means to be human. This is what led me to teach Anatomy & Physiology to high schoolers, where I was awarded New Teacher of the Year at the school. My philosophy is to learn through teaching, reflection and meditation. Outside of the classroom I teach mindful movement as a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor. As a tutor, I am motivated to meet the student at their current skill level and facilitate in their pursuit of excellence.
As a Texas Certified Public Accountant and graduate with a Master's in Accountancy from The University of Texas at San Antonio, I have a strong foundation in financial and managerial accounting, which I have been passionately sharing with students for over 2 years. My approach centers on creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging deeply with the material. I strive to make complex concepts accessible through real-world applications and relatable examples, fostering both understanding and confidence. I am dedicated to helping each student succeed academically and develop a solid grasp of accounting principles. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading about financial markets and exploring new travel destinations, which further enrich my teaching perspective.
In the classroom teaching economics, or financial literacy, or government, is where I'm meant to be. That classroom may be the actual thing, or here online. It doesn't matter. My goal in life is to help people understand how the market works, the impact of their decisions, the impact of societal actions. I do so via current events and personal experience (corporate career, running for public office, civic activism, etc.), the latter of which includes that of students. Those are how I learned. The biggest reward I get is when I see the proverbial light bulb go off over someone's head. Hopefully you'll be the next one I see.
I am a PhD student in Educational Policy, with a Master's degree in Quantitative Methods, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I have 3 years of experience tutoring psychology statistics, and 2 years of experience as a Graduate TA for research methods. I am to the core a research nerd, and feel excited about completing my PhD and conducting education research to inform policy. While my work in policy is on a larger scale, there is nothing quite like having an impact on students directly. My tutoring philosophy is rooted in empowering students to take control of their learning experience, and to ultimately gain the confidence in themselves to succeed.
I received my bachelor's in communications from the University of Maryland Global Campus while traveling the world as a military spouse. Traveling allowed me to experience different cultures and new ways of learning. I am currently working on two master's programs, one a degree in social work with the University of Texas at San Antonio. Where I maintain a 4.0 GPA after one year in program. The other is a master's in public health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where I am in my first semester. Since I have experience in both on campus and a distance learning, I have an edge when it comes to the type of learning needed to succeed. My experience with students started as a middle schooler who was asked to tutor a Korean boy in English. Moving on from there, I tutored informally throughout high school and college. I currently work with other graduate students. I tutor in English, communications (including media and journalism), human resources, and English as a second language. When I am not working or working on schoolwork, I enjoy spending time with my three children and grandbaby, as well as my husband. We like to travel, both in Texas, around the country, and to other continents. I look forward to productive partnerships with future students.
