During my undergraduate degree, I studied Biology at Texas A&M and later at the University of Texas-Pan American to work for a forensics laboratory. However, the more elective English Classes I took, the more I realized Biology wasn't for me. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology but quickly pivoted to studying English Literature in a Master's Program at the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley. Since that change in studies, I have found my passion in English Literature. I have worked as an AP English Literature instructor for six years and an OnRamps Dual Enrollment English Instructor for the past three years. I have been an AP reader for AP English Literature for the past three years, and I have moved from an 'acorn' to a full rater by reviewing all FRQ questions. I am eager to help students prepare for the AP Test and see student growth in their writing.

Hi! I love to help students with the subject I love most: Math. I find joy in finding patterns, providing explanation in the world around me, and above all else, learning something new. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics (concentration in Statistics) at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I've tutored virtually every high school/introductory college course available for about 4 years, from Algebra I to Calculus (I , II , III) to Introductory Statistics. I believe in not only teaching how to solve a problem, but making sure that a student truly understands *why* a given method works. Instead of just learning how to drive the metaphorical car, I show the student what happens under the hood. This philosophy has resulted in every single one of my students not only improving their scores, but more importantly attaining an underlying confidence in the subject material.

I started my higher education journey at Louisiana State University. After my mom got sick, I came back to Houston to finish my bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I worked in the financial industry for many years. It was quite demanding, and didn't allow a lot of quality time with my daughter. This led to me contemplating a new career path that was not centered on money, but balance and truly making a difference. Helping students has been a passion of mine every since I first homeschooled my oldest child. I would work overnight, and homeschool her during the day. I realized how quickly she learned and thrived in a one on one environment. After successfully homeschooling her, I decided to go into education. I was confident that with care and compassion every child can grow and learn. Since this time I have taught at children's church, in the school system as an elementary and middle school teacher. Also, I have experience teaching financial literacy to adults through multiple for profit and non-profit businesses. I am a certified licensed teacher in the state of Texas in the subjects of Math, Science, English and Social Studies. I have also taught Spanish and Exploring Foreign Languages, which was an absolute delight both for my students and myself. My favorite subjects to teach are Spanish, Math and Science. That is because these were my passions in school and and still bring me great joy even outside of the education realm. My teaching philosophy is to meet the student where they are, show them that I care and to maintain high expectations. With tutoring I believe anybody can flourish with the right mindset and environment. I look forward to assisting you soon! Take a look at my interests and hobbies to see what I enjoy doing outside of teaching. Who knows, we may just have a few in common!

With patience, empathy, and a passion for personalized learning, I tailor each session to match the unique needs of every student. My strength lies in making complex ideas easy to grasp by breaking them into manageable steps and tying them to real-world situations students can relate to. I create a safe, encouraging space where curiosity thrives, questions are welcomed, and confidence grows. Guiding students to think critically and apply what they learn beyond the classroom is both my goal and my joy. It's a privilege to guide students on their learning journey, one step at a time.
