I am passionate about helping students because have a zeal for the subject areas themselves. I am a Data Advocate, which makes me an advocate for all things that relate to the understanding, processing and proficiency in the "data space". This includes, but is not limited to, Math, Computer Programing and general problem solving. I have worked with students of all levels of knowledge and age groups. I use my personal experiences to develop positive working relationships with each individual student. I received my B.S. in Operations Research from the US Air Force Academy. I received my M.S. in Business Analytics from the American University. In the future I intend to purse a PhD in a field of Math or Analytics. My teaching philosophy and tutoring style are pretty similar in the sense that I try to provide multiple ways to come to the same answer. I also try to use relatable analogies specific to the student's interest. Inherent in that, is that I have to develop knowledge and a relationship with the student(s). Outside of academia, I have interests in Card & Board Games, Music, Sports and spending time with family.

After serving in the military for my first career, I'm excited to be living in Atlanta to begin my second. I am passionate about serving my community and hope that through tutoring I can reach out to local youth. While attending the Air Force Academy and Harvard, I have learned about discipline, dedication to hard work, and organization. I believe it is these life skills that aid in success in the classroom and building relationships.Working with young adults is a vocation for which I have always been passionate. Everything from being a camp counselor, to leading a cycling trip across the United States, to volunteer tutoring and mentoring, to being an Air Force pilot, I have experience sharing knowledge with others. Beyond teaching procedures or rote memorization of facts, I desire to teach the lessons behind the specific skill set so students understand the underlying concepts. I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. I have traveled extensively both during my time as an Air Force Officer and in private business. I have always had a great passion for learning and teaching and believe communication is the key to a successful learning/teaching relationship. I an avid reader of everything from the classics to science fiction but my number one passion is math and science.

As a passionate advocate for the intersection of theory and practice in political science, I am thrilled at the opportunity to tutor students in the complexities of political theories, institutions, and real-world applications. I have a Bachelor's in Political Science from the United States Air Force Academy. I am a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. Following graduation from the Academy, I spent two years living in a remote village in Zambia where I worked with the Peace Corps to educate villagers about the prevention of malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis, as well as other illness endemic to the region. When I got back from Zambia, I took the MCAT and soon began medical school. I am currently in my final year as a medical student and hope to begin a surgery residency next year. I love to teach, and have years of experience tutoring a wide array of subjects including algebra I and II, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics, PSAT, SAT math, reading, and writing, ACT math, reading, and science, religion, literature, and many more. I have worked extensively with students taking FLVS classes, guiding them through their assignments and preparing them for their tests. I have also worked with students traveling the equestrian circuit in Wellington. I know that people are capable of much more than they think they are when they have someone that believes in them and is able to act as a teacher and coach. I love to see people reach for their potential and gain confidence along the way. Outside of tutoring, I love to study for medical school, play with my dogs, run and do yoga. Class of 89 United States Air Force Academy. Graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Financial Management. I received my Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle. I believe the key to academic success is a mix of attitude, support, and the tools that work for the individual student. It is my firm belief that the Tutor needs to approach each individual student with the appropriate methods and processes that suit them best, and seeks to let them achieve their goals in a positive and growing experience. In my 23 year flying career, every sortie was an opportunity to learn. I also realized that I was training the pilots that would one day replace me. The training and instruction I gave was going to be a direct reflection on me. I took it as a huge responsibility and embraced it.As a former ReadingCorps Tutor, I stand behind the statement "Learn to read, read to learn'. Learning is an experience and it should not only create opportunities, but should lead to self-worth and satisfaction.

I enjoy teaching economics, because many students are intellectually challenged by the theory. I take pride in being able to adapt my explanations of concepts in a number of different ways, based upon the student's life experience and academic background. I received my undergrad in Econ at the US Air Force Academy and my Master's in Econ at the University of Utah. I previously taught Economics full time at the US Air Force Academy and have also taught at Portlan Community College and the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs.
