I am an undergraduate student entering my third year at the University of California, Berkeley. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Statistics. Since I was a sophomore in high school, I've tutored several students in various subjects; this includes my time tutoring high school peers and underclassmen as a member of my high school's Math Honors Society and helping elementary schoolers with fundamental mathematical concepts as an IMACS Teaching Assistant. While I'm comfortable teaching a wide range of subjects, I love mathematics the most (e.g. Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics). I also have a lot of experience with the SAT and SAT Subject Tests, so I would be comfortable helping students in this way as well. As a longtime member of TASSEL (an organization dedicated to helping underprivileged Cambodian children via English education), I understand how valuable education is not only for individuals but for society as a whole, and I hope to play a part in helping people this way. In my free time, I love to play basketball, spend time with family and friends, and watch the NBA and NFL.

Hello! My name is William, and I am a P.h.D. student at Columbia in Mechanical Engineering. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a mechanical engineering major and a math minor. When I was helping my sister study for the SAT math section, I realized I loved teaching. It gave me a better understanding of the material I enjoyed, and it was fascinating to see her gain skills and knowledge.Furthermore, I have experience teaching through my involvement in the 3D printing club and camp at Gaston Day School. I started the club in high school and acted as their president for a few years. Over the summer, I was a counselor for high schoolers looking to learn more about additive manufacturing. I helped write the curriculum for this camp and teach the material. Being in college upper division mathematics, I also have extensive experience studying in groups. It is often the case in group learning that you must take on the role of the teacher to explain things to your peers and the part of the student when you don't understand something yourself. This means that I have experience on both sides of the teaching equation. During these times, as a camp counselor, an SAT/ACT tutor, and a study group member, I learned to teach effectively.I am experienced in tutoring ACT and SAT math. I can teach shortcuts and strategies to succeed on these tests. I also received my mathematics minor at UC Berkeley to help with higher levels of math like calculus and linear algebra. I can also help with physics since I earned an A+ in Physics 7A and 7B at UC Berkeley. My mission is to help with homework or test prep by facilitating an understanding of the material and, hopefully, to have fun along the way. If you would like to work with me, let me know, and I would be happy to help!Sincerely,Will
Hello! My name is Simon and I am a graduate from UC Berkeley and currently pursuing a second degree in Nursing. I work as an Emergency Medical Technician and as a Nursing Assistant. When I'm not working or studying, I'm usually running, practicing guitar, or cooking with my fiance. I love to teach as much as I love to learn. I have experience tutoring in math but would be more than welcome to help out in other subjects as well. I like to keep the atmosphere fun and engaging. If you would like to know anything else about me, feel free to contact me!
The next national SAT is on August 22, 2026. We have less than two months to make sure you are prepared for this exam. Do not make the mistake many do by thinking that a few weeks or a month is enough time. Remember, this will be the most important test you have taken to this point. Let's make sure you are ready for it. I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from U. C. Berkeley. In addition, I teach seminars that prepare students for the SAT. Specifically, I teach the following: 1. The different types of questions on the exam and how to approach each one. 2. Strategies to stay on pace during the exam. 3. Plans to recognize trick questions and get them right. 4. Finally, I work with each student to focus on their weaknesses and turn it into a strength. My tutoring will give you the ability to improve your score on any portion of the SAT with my tutoring, combined with hard work, studying and preparing for the exam.
For more than 20 years my supreme goal has been to be a good reader, an active listener, a decent writer and an articulate speaker. I am best one-on-one as a listener, and I have spoken with passion to a group of more than 200 people. Also, I have written as a staff writer for a newspaper in a national news syndicate, and I have two masters degree, one in Special Education from Old Dominion University and one in Journalism from the University of Oregon. Along with many other college students and some graduate students, I won a national internship competition through the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund as a copy-editor for the Grand Forks Herald in North Dakota. My favorite study right now is Spanish, in which I write my near daily diary and about which I always learn more around the subjunctive, one of my favorite features in languages, of which I have received formal instruction in the Fijian language, Spanish, Hindustani, Hebrew and Arabic, 2 years in Spanish and 2 years in Arabic. I have also used informal instruction in German and Italian when I traveled in Europe. My first experience in teaching was as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the South Pacific at a 4-year middle school, and I have taught as a teacher assistant often times one-on-one with students on the autism spectrum and done that work for almost 20 years, many of my students being non-verbal and some with orthopedic complications. One of my favorite students responded quite well to my singing as we walked city streets to and from vocational assignments

Educator. Sponge. Poet.As an educator, I've learned how to absorb both memories from the places I've traveled along with the skills gained from opportunities I've had and turn them into moments of mentorship and learning for other folks who are on the path toward achieving their goals.Highlights:--Working towards my Masters in Clinical Psych at Teacher's College, Columbia Univ.--Lived in China for 4 years and traveled throughout Asia learning languages + cultural customs--Taught Writing, Film, and Linguistics Courses at a top university in China--Worked at educational consulting companies as an admissions counselor/writing coach
I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature. My focus was English and Russian Language and Literature. While at Berkeley I began tutoring ESL students in English grammar and essay writing. Since graduation I completed my TEFL certification and worked as an English teacher in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong I became familiar with the SSAT, and tutored several students of different levels. I have worked with students of all different ages and learning levels, and my goal has been to help them communicate themselves in written and spoken English. This has included teaching them academic, creative, and personal writing. The ability to write in a clear and engaging style is crucial to any student's success, even if the last creative essay they write is their personal statement for a college application. So few schools teach this skill, and even fewer teachers have the time to give students the individual attention that they need. I enjoy working with students who are learning to express themselves through writing, whether they need help with English grammar, literature analysis, or personal style.
As a teacher, my mission has always been to make scientific knowledge accessible to ALL students, and help them see why it's worth the effort to pursue. I've been a high school physics teacher for the past 15 years, and also a strong advocate for equity in science education. I received my undergraduate degree in Physics from Amherst College, and later a masters degree in Science and Math Education from UC Berkeley. While I've always had an interest in science, I've come to see myself as someone who teaches *people* rather than *science*. That is, I really enjoy helping students become more confident & independent learners, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. I feel honored to be a part of any students' growth. :)
I am a graduate of UC Berkeley where I majored in Molecular and Cell Biology, with an emphasis in Biochemistry. I am currently a graduate student at the Boston University School of Medicine, studying Biomedical Forensic Sciences. I love working with both younger and more experienced students in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and forensics. I am passionate about helping others achieve their fullest potential, and can cater to various learning styles!
I am a science writer and podcaster with a rigorous academic background who is passionate about sharing my knowledge of chemistry with curious minds. I earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and Asian art history from UC Berkeley and completed a PhD in inorganic chemistry at MIT. I have five years of experience teaching college-level general and organic chemistry courses at various institutions in California, Massachusetts, New York, and Texas, and hope to expand on my experience as a private tutor. Often a required subject for other classes, chemistry is often considered "the central science" as it's related to biology and physics, and I appreciate that chemical principles can be observed throughout daily life from cooking to medicine to electronics. I believe that education is the world's greatest social equalizer and hope that my students learn to make new connections between classes and other aspects of their life. Outside of science, I love dogs, food, and the outdoors.
I am a Structural Engineer with degrees in Civil Engineering and Architecture, and I have passed the SE exam. I volunteered as an assistant teacher in college, have taught seminars to colleagues, and have tutored and mentored informally over the years.
