I am a graduate of the University of Houston - Downtown with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. I have 6 years of experience working as a Classroom Teacher, some of which include, educating my own children from home. I am certified to teach every subject from 4th-8th grade, as well as English as a Second Language. Teaching Math is my field of expertise. I enjoy helping young learners grasp math because Math never came easy to me as a child. I try to teach this complex subject in a simple way. I love when students have "Aha!" moments. I believe every student can learn to be proficient at math when they are equipped with the right tools and empowered with a "can do" attitude.

A teacher has the power to inspire the student to greatness. It depends on how much patience and will power it takes to see the positive impact. It is my goal to inspire, to help and be enthusiastic on what I teach. I do hope that after students learn from me that they can achieve what they set their minds to. I received my Bachelors of Science from University of Houston-Downtown. I have an Associate in Art and Bachelors in Science, hopefully I do want to pursue a Masters degree. I have done in-person tutoring for over 15yrs and just started online tutoring back in September 2022 till May 2023. I just try to be patient and enthusiastic on what I teach to my students. I have tutored in subjects such as Reading, Spelling, Reading Comprehension, Grammar and Elementary Math. I'm willing to teach Reading and Elementary Math, but personally I like to teach Reading. Reading and writing helps you express your individuality. Other interests I have is that I like to play sports such as badminton, table tennis and board games. I try to cherish life moments because I have lost a child back in 2014. The heartbreak and despair I felt was immense. Then, I am blessed with another child, so I made a vow that I will try to live a fulfilling life such as teaching, homemaking and other interests.
Currently enrolled in MBA program at University of Houston- Downtown work as a Smart Operations Analyst at a reputable firm. The courses I have completed have given me a solid foundation in the tools, processes and methodologies involved in the successful analysis and management of different strategies. I have a proven ability to learn challenging concepts quickly and have developed competencies in diverse areas. One of the main reasons why I decided to pursue tutoring was so that I would have the opportunity to work with future generation and would get to learn from them too. My teaching philosophy is that learning is a two way process and both students and teachers are partners in the process. I am a firm believer of this quote by Winston Churchill "Success is not final, Failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts"
I love to teach in ways that suit each person; seeing someone grasping information is very rewarding. I believe having patience is key, and adapting to the client's learning style is a must. I am a Summa cum laude graduate from the University of Houston-Downtown, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. There is nothing more satisfying to me, than to see one of my students reach their academic goals. Throughout my career, I have always looked for opportunities to help other students learn new and challenging topics using the same strategies that led to my success. I can teach a wide variety of computer science topics but am most excited to teach Python. Topics may include anything from the basics (data types, control structures, etc.) to more advanced areas, such as object-oriented programming, data structures, list comprehension, recursion, and more.My approach to teaching involves two strategies. First, I use metaphors to describe unfamiliar topics in a way that is more relatable and intuitive. Second, after guiding your learning, I will give you the opportunity to teach me in return. I strongly believe that the best way to master a subject is to teach it to another. It is the process of teaching, that will show you which areas you have mastered, and which areas still need work.I am passionate about computer programming as both a profession and a hobby. I spend hours every day, including weekends, reading coding books and solving programming challenges in languages such as Python, Java, and C++. I have created various Windows software programs and mobile apps, I have participated in hackathons, and I have presented original research and software at the Greater Minds in Stem conference.I am excited to use the skills I have acquired over my academic career to ensure that you find the most direct path to success, and I hope to hear from you soon!

We have all been in the situation where we needed help. My daughter struggled through the public school system and needed a bit of help. I decided to homeschool her from 5th through 8th grade in order to give her a solid foundation for high school. She's graduating high school this year with an associate's degree at 18 years old. Sometimes hurdles turn out to be a launching pad. Additionally, I have a passion for working with English language learners. I have three years of classroom experience teaching middle school math in a school that is 90 percent ESL students. While deployed in the United States Navy I earned an associates in Electronic Technology from Coastline Community College. After I was finishing discharged for fulfilling my military contact, I earned my bachelor's degree from UHD in 2013. I have a bachelor of science in Political Science with minors in Communication, Public Policy and Administration, and International Relations. I love teaching math because it's a practical skill used in day-to-day life. My daughter is right brained and struggled in math. It is deeply gratifying to help a child and watch their self confidence grow when they are successful in subjects they deem difficult. I believe every child can reach their goals when given the foundation to succeed. I am a trouble shooter and problem solver by nature. I believe in listening to the student in order to develop meaningful communication. Once communication is established, it's a matter of setting goals and creating a plan to reach those goals. I love helping children achieve their academic goals.
I believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn to the best of their ability, and the chance to reach their potential. I know not every student receives that in school, so my goal is to reach as many students as I can, and give them that opportunity.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Houston-Downtown. My long term ambition is to help my community. I had the great opportunity of volunteering in the Microbiology lab at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. This gave me the opportunity of working with the PathNet computer software, learning to triage specimen, observing the microbiologists while they were ordering different lab tests for example, tests for urine, blood, C-Diff, CMRSA, MRSA by PCR, learning to prepare MRSA PCR Data Collection Report, filing Microlab Data, preparing supplies for autoclave, finding requisitions, faxing data to other labs. By volunteering, I got the chance to experience working in a hospital setting and understanding part of the process by which the laboratory helps the doctor to diagnose a disease, medical condition or health of the patient.I am a self-motivated , goal oriented individual who is multi-talented and who possesses great interpersonal skills. My Personal Achievements include over thirty Certificates for involvement in extra-curricular activities. My past extra-curricular activities include being a Volunteer at the Memorial Hermann Hospital (Texas Medical Center) and being Volunteer at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. My skills include Computer Applications, Communication, Teaching, Music and Leadership. My mother died when I was five years old. I have very vivid memories of her even though I was very young. I think I have memories from (this may be hard to believe), even two or three years old. The reason I remember this period of my life so much, is because the loss of my mom had a great impact on the course my life would take. What I remember most about my mom was that she taught me how to read and write. She also taught me to listen to, and have respect for my teachers and elders. She bought many books for me and she would read to me and encourage me to read aloud to her. I know my mom would be very proud if she could see me now. She, by teaching me to read and write at an early age, caused me to have a passion for books and wherever I go, I try to teach others to value books and education. My mom may have died when I was very small but before she left me, she taught me the skills to survive. When I came to Houston, I had a lot of challenges in trying to finishing my college education. God kept me focused, I was able to receive scholarships and now I have completed my Bachelors degree. I have to give God all the praise for all he has done for me. All my experiences have helped to shape my character, made me stronger, made me more patient, made me better able to deal with people with different personalities. God has given me his peace which has helped me to learn to work well under pressure, and to develop conflict resolution skills, and practice organizational strengthening techniques when working with others in a group setting. My vision is to help people in Houston where I am presently, and also in Jamaica. In order to best serve the community with my skills, I considered the needs of the communities that I plan to help. The communities are Montego Bay, Jamaica, St. Elizabeth Jamaica, and Houston, Texas. In Montego Bay, Jamaica, many people cannot afford healthcare. Recently I heard that there is a new healthcare plan in Jamaica, however I dont know how well it is working. One unfortunate thing that happened which caused me to see the dire shortcomings of the Jamaican healthcare system was when my friends mom went to the hospital (Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay) at 6am and died at 6pm because she was not seen by the doctor. Another need of the community which I would like to address is that many smart, talented young people are graduating from high school and college and there are no jobs available and no one to provide direction. In considering the needs of the community of St Elizabeth, Jamaica, I remembered my cousin telling me that the nearest clinic to where they live is down the road (30 miles away). When I think of the needs of the city of Houston, I considered the following issues. There are also many smart, talented young people graduating from high school and college and there are no jobs available and no one to provide direction. Many people living in Houston are also below the poverty line and cannot afford health care, cannot speak English, and do not know how to access healthcare. There are also jobs available but no one to provide direction and teach them how to use their skills to obtain a job. Many programs exist but not accessible to poor minorities (Black, Hispanic, Phillipino, Cambodian, Vietnamese).I considered my skills and how I may apply them. I have training/skills in Healthcare, Computer Technology Applications, College Administration, Non-profit Organizations and Community Outreach. I thought of ways that I could try to contribute to the community. My goal is to use my skills and resources to implement community outreach programs to address the needs of the communities of Montego Bay, Jamaica, St. Elizabeth Jamaica and Houston, Texas.and especially to be able to assist young people to complete their tertiary education, and to help to all people in the community to access education. In summary, my personal mission statement is to give back to my community and to help others to also achieve what I have achieved.

I am a graduate of University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. After graduating, I received my teacher certification from Texas Teachers of Tomorrow. I am certified in Core Subjects EC-6, ESL EC-12, and English 7-12. I spent my first two years in an intermediate school teaching 6th grade Science and Social Studies and then a year teaching 5th grade Reading. For my third and fourth years of teaching, I moved up to 7th grade Reading. I have experience teaching a wide variety of students from English language learners, SPED, to the academically advanced. While teaching, I went to school online at Grand Canyon University where I received a Master of Science in Instructional Design. I love to read so this is where my passion lies in teaching. Whether you're taking introductory courses or upper-level major requirements, you can connect with a tutor who has walked that same academic path.
