Just another friendly French, English, History, and writing tutor. I'm here to help you build confidence in your skills *and* get those grades up!I work well with all students, especially in making sure that they're comfortable asking me questions, and I'm also a huge fan of making the lessons productive *and* fun! Tutoring young intellects is my pride and joy!French: I am particularly adept at making students feel comfortable in engaging with foreign linguistic concepts. It's easy for students to get discouraged, trust me, I know from personal experience, which is why I am so keen on morale as much as I am on the actual academic rigor of tutoring French.English: English has been and always will be my passion and it truly shows when I'm tutoring. I love getting students excited about English assignments and learning and so far, I've been quite successful in that endeavor! I work well with all students, including those not particularly enthused by the subject.History: I am quite the history buff and I truly believe that if a student has the right tutor who knows how to bring history to life, anyone can and will enjoy it as much as they are learning from it. This is definitely one of my favorite subjects to tutor in.Writing: Writing is also a passion of mine. In fact, I love it so much I honed in on it in college. Since high school, I've been a writing center coach, and I truly enjoy helping students realize their potential and capacity to write really well in styles that suit their personalities. I'm also adept at assisting students with following stylistic guidelines, meaning APA or MLA format, for example. Writing is such a pleasure and joy to tutor, so I'm sure, regardless of my students' enthusiasm, I will be their cheerleader and make sure they're having fun while we learn together!Miscellaneous: I've occasionally dabbled in tutoring out of left field topics which are not necessarily my forte however, I'm more than capable and happy to do so for my students who really take to me. Such subjects range from creating financial statements on excel to basic theology coursework. In other words, I love tutoring, and chances are, I can tutor you, regardless of the subject, and if I don't feel qualified to tutor in it, I can direct you to other Varsity Tutors who can.

***MUST BRING OWN MATERIALS IF IT IS HOMEWORK AND I MUST BE ABLE TO REVIEW PRIOR***I am a STEM & test prep tutor with a knack for writing!Shalom! My name is Samantha but you can call me Sammie Jo or just Sammie. I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH - graduated from Strongsville High School in 2013 with a 4.3 GPA and number 30 of roughly 600 students. I have 5 brothers and sisters who are my best friends. Looking for a new adventure, I accepted my spot at the University of Miami. I was rather the major-changer at first, dropping the very competitive neuroscience program I was part of my freshman year only in exchange for curiosity in fields like math and philosophy. After that, I found my true love, chemistry. While chemistry does not have the most beautiful reputation among many, it is with no doubt what I love and thus, I decided to major in it earning a 3.7 chemistry GPA by senior year. My minors are in math and psychology, but I do have substantial knowledge in physics and philosophy.Unfortunately, I went through some health struggles and was out of school for a year and a half, still determined to get those 3 classes done and be a graduated Cane! I moved back to Cleveland for treatment and to be with my family. Miami has been incredible to allowing me to take the 3 courses I need to graduate at Case Western Reserve University so I can get 100% healthy at home. I plan to officially have a BS from the University of Miami in Chemistry with minors in math and psychology by May 2019.I am always happy to expand on any of the mentioned above, but just want to give a summary more or less and not a life story. As far as Tutoring goes, I do have substantial experience, though it is freelance. See my subjects for what I can tutor - I do specialize in math, ACT, and chemistry- I am a writer - as a hobby, I blog, but I am an excellent editor and score in the 99% percentile in any instance for writing on a test (ACT, SAT, GRE)I think that hits all the bases of how I can be available to you. I'm primarily a problem solver, so I really like to be able to look at step-by-step ways to solve a problem because it can be daunting. But, I believe in me and I believe in you! Let's do this!

My personal philosophy is grounded in the belief that all people deserve innovative, evidence-based, culturally inclusive care, and focuses on their desired quality of life. This kind of care addresses one's entire being and requires dynamic, interdisciplinary work that reflects a thoughtfully shared decision-making model and supports the individual, their loved ones, and the communities that they are a part of. I approach teaching with the exact same attitude. As a healthcare professional, my objective is to help nursing "professionals-in-training" become dynamic and transformational critical thinkers. My methodology in achieving this stems from the belief that nursing is truly both an art and a science and requires honing knowledge, experience, and skill. This is done through the assessment of students' strengths with the same focus that is applied to their weaknesses. Then, I use a multi-faceted approach to promote active learning.I want those I tutor in nursing to feel comfortable asking questions and identifying ways that best help them actively learn, understand, and retain concepts that make them safely and efficiently actionable when at the bedside. Career-wise, I have been an LPN since 2011, an RN since 2015, and an NP since 2021. My career has spanned largely adult critical care, hospice, and long-term geriatric care. Most recently, I graduated from the University of Miami with my MSN and am a board-certified AGACNP by the ANCC. Additionally, I completed a 1-year post-graduate training program in Adult Critical Care at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Completing my training made me understand that nursing education is where my passions lie. On a personal note, I enjoy reading, animated short films, hiking, traveling domestically and internationally, antiques-shopping, and cooking and eating great Asian food.

My strongest courses to tutor are Math and Science. I am feel as though they are so applicable to life. Everyday you have to problem solve and know your surroundings and both subjects give you tools to in a unique way to apply to everyday life. My philosophy to tutoring is mistakes are part of the process. Its okay to mess up I am here to help point out those errors and help you work through them in a safe, comfortable environment. I enjoy learning about the student's interests and incorporating them into the lesson to make it more fun and interesting. I've been working in education for about 5 years. From a young age I learned to value my mother's perseverance and sacrifice. My mother supported my grandmother and I while working three jobs in Hialeah, Fl. I assumed the responsibility of caring for my grandmother while my mother worked, day in and day out. Although she had little time or money, she would manage, every week, to volunteer in the community with me by her side. As I sit on the threshold of a career in medicine, I am humbly reminded of so many of these early incidents, which define and shape who I am today. Armed with the support of my mother's strength and exposure to some of the best learn educational opportunities that Miami had to offer, I was able to reach far beyond the expectations of my immediate environment. As I grew through meaningful experiences that led me to a choice of career while at the University of Miami, I journeyed through a similar progression of experiences at Howard University College of Medicine that narrowed my specialty choice to Anesthesiology. One of those experiences was the medical mission trip I was privileged to be a part of to Haiti prior to my third year of medical school. A day did not pass during this mission when I did not feel compassion for this community. The Haitian people have so much resilience and strength despite their devastating living conditions. I was fortunate enough to work closely with the anesthesiologists in the operating room throughout the entire mission trip. I was also able to observe the rapidity with which a patient might deteriorate and how quickly the anesthesiologist had to act. It was both exciting and rewarding to see that our efforts of stabilizing numerous patients succeeded. The practice of keeping patients alive and free of pain during such a difficult time was fascinating to me. During the mission, I also witnessed the impact that the lack of services and resources had on the community's health. I initially went to Haiti to serve a population in great need, never knowing that my life would have been impacted by witnessing the hope they had admist their day-to-day struggles. With a particular interest in international health, I plan to continue to promote awareness of health disparities that face many people globally. After my trip to Haiti and during clinical rotations I realized that my most fulfilling moments were being in the operating room. Specifically, I was more fascinated by the medicine behind keeping the patient stabilized and free of pain. Anesthesiology is tightly intertwined amongst most specialties of medicine. Whether caring for an obstetric patient who is bringing life into the world or stabilizing a critical patient, the attentiveness and intricacies that form the dynamic relationship between physiology and pharmacology intrigue me. Also, I find the prospect of practicing medicine with a diverse population of patients alluring. When I consider my interests and personality, along with my particular attention to detail, I feel that I am well suited for a career in anesthesiology.I am excited about the opportunity of pursuing a career in anesthesiology. I aspire to join a program that will challenge me and strengthen my drive to not only learn anesthesiology, but to teach others as well. With the clinical training I receive, as well as the compassion and congeniality I exude, I will own the responsibility to relieve pain and support my patients during the most critical moments of their lives. As I continue on this journey I strive to become a knowledgeable physician, adept anesthesiologist, and an effective educator. I know that my passion and dedication to patients as well as to learning will serve me well in my future endeavors to ultimately becoming a well-rounded physician.

Hello there! Hope you are doing well today. My name is Agnes and I am a recent graduate of the University of Miami. I have experience tutoring for an award winning company and for Varsity Tutors since last November. Successful tutoring involves two essential elements: an engaging, tutor who is effective at communicating concepts, and a committed, involved student who wants to learn. Frequently, I hear from parents that their student enjoyed the session with me. I believe this is because I do my best to make my sessions interactive, engaging and educational. I am proud to say that I have received positive feedback from parents thanking me for taking the time to help their student reach new heights in their academics. Most notably, a student I met with twice a week got his first A in his eighth grade Algebra class. I absolutely love sharing the tools I have learned in my educational journey with others and seeing them flourish. Varsity Tutors gives me the ability to do just that!My track record includes: high school students for the SAT, 4th graders for the Cogat, SSAT, and ISEE, 8th graders for school subjects like algebra and the ISEE and SSAT.Thank you so much for reading. As a tutor I am very patient, and my teaching style is to ensure the student has a full understanding of the content on their own, without any outside assistance. I hope to obtain this understanding by using repetition and providing practice problems, while making the learning environment as least stressful for the student as possible. I have tutored students for almost 5 years now, and have seen incredible success in the areas that I taught. In my spare time I love to cook, dance, and glass paint.

Nothing makes me happier than tutoring high school students in subjects that I love. I graduated from a very competitive high school and I completely understand the rigorous nature of AP courses and the pressure to get a top notch SAT score. With a 2370 SAT score and a 4.0 throughout college and high school, I think I am definitely qualified to tutor. However, more than being qualified, what I've always hoped to achieve as a tutor is to develop the ability in my tutees to become strong independent learners with effective study strategies that they can take with them wherever they go. My motto is "Study Smarter, not just Harder!"
