I'm a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I was awarded a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. Over my eight years of teaching, I have worked with students in writing essays, understanding material assigned to them and material that they use in writing argument and research papers. As a tutor, I can help you with beginning your essays, developing them, and suggesting ways to make them better. Because my interests are diverse, I can help you move ahead with assignments in many subject areas, especially ones involving research and writing. I believe that one-on-one contact with students is important, recognizing each as a unique human being, drawing out of them interests that connect with their assignments. I work with students from a wide range of ages, all of them trying to learn how to communicate in writing and also students who are taking public speaking classes. In addition to an intense love of reading good writing, I do some writing of my own, mostly fiction and personal essays. Movies are a strong interest, too. I love seeing new places, but getting to know places right in my own neighborhood is fascinating, and I often break out my camera and take pictures of people, places and things that I want to preserve and share with others.

I double majored in Economics and Political Science for my Bachelor Degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I also minored in Philosophy as well, so I am very passionate about teaching in the educational aspect of Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy! I have been tutoring students for over four years now! I started tutoring students in my junior year of high school and ever since then I have fell in love with tutoring people and helping them in any way or form that I can as an experienced tutor. I was also a tutor with the Academic Achievement Center. I am so passionate about tutoring students because I believe that every individual should have an opportunity to reach their fullest potential even when they may not be able to realize it yet!
I am a graduate of UNC Greensboro in English, secondary education. I have worked for a variety of tutoring companies and specialize in online tutoring. As a teacher, I am passionate about helping others learn in ways that work for them.
Teaching and singing are my passions; training and coaching public speakers and performing artists my expertise. I grew up with a musician and a frequent public speaker for parents, ending up with strong talents in both. I enjoy telling people, "I majored in talking and enjoy a career as a vocalist, which is basically talking with notes and rhythms attached!" Studying communication gave me a solid foundation for engaging with and listening to the (often unspoken) needs of others. I get great joy from helping others reach their goals and overcome their presentation fears which often block their success. I believe every person has the capacity to learn and grow skills at any pinnacle of life. My philosophy includes the strong belief that gentle honesty is the kindest offering to be given to anyone, particular to persons putting themselves up for public scrutiny or digest as performing artists or public speakers. My motto is "I'm here to believe in you and help you improve.
I am a graduate of the University of Greensboro. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Human Family Studies, in which I then received my add-on Teacher Licensure through East Carolina University. Since graduation, I have been teaching at a Charter School going on my 5th Year in Kindergarten. Previously before that, I taught Pre-K for 20 years. At our school, I tutor Kindergarten students in reading and Math two times a week, to help get them where they need to be. While I tutor math and reading, I am most passionate about reading. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, and know that just that extra boost can truly make an impact on them. I am a true believer that all students can learn, all children learn differently and it is our job to make sure that we learn the best way to teach them what they need to know for the years ahead of them.
I am a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Winston-Salem State University. I have 2.5 years of tutoring experience. Most of my experience involves the subject of math (middle and elementary-level math, etc), though I have also tutored students in writing and literacy. Being a visual learner myself, I use the method of demonstration throughout tutoring sessions. It's one thing to hear a concept repeatedly. However, I find that taking a more hands-on approach not only dives deeper into concepts but also keeps students more engaged with the material being taught.
I love the English language and further love the opportunity and ability to help students gain a serious command of English. I have been an English teacher at upper level high school and college for decades and have never grown tired of nor disenchanted with helping students master the nuances of the language. I am student-centered-- finding clever and fun ways to explain difficult concepts and encourage students' positive practice of language and literature skills.
Hey there! As a professor of writing at Rutgers University for twenty-two years and an author of two books of fiction, I am excited to help you with all your writing needs, from academic essays to short stories and novel manuscripts.
As an experienced educator and tutor for about 10 years, I believe in finding different ways to teach. This includes guiding students on how to think for themselves, while also monitoring their own thinking. I focus on giving power back to the student. A few areas in which I excel include: really getting to know people and their interests, using student interests during lessons, strong problem-solving, general organization, different ways to teach most subjects, and student engagement. My teaching degree is from UNC Greensboro in reading and math for grades 6-9. I also hold a Master's Degree in School Administration that I earned in 2020. In the leadership roles that I have had at my schools, I trained countless teachers in math, reading, writing, speaking, science, and social studies topics in grades K-5 for about 3 years. I have also taught and tutored students in topics ranging from grades K-9.
