I graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Doctorate in Education in Distance Learning and Instructional Technology. I also have a Masters Degree in Special Education, specifically in Administration of Early Intervention Programs, from the University of Phoenix. At Bachelors level, I studied Visual Arts and Teaching English as a Second Language. CuTeacherrrently, I'm a certified Bilingual and Spanish from the state of Texas. I have taught at all levels: from PK to university level. In addition, I have trained and work as a coach for other teachers. I've also taught adults that want to become better English/Spanish speakers in an university setting. I've worked in other educational areas like being a Consultant for the Puerto Rico Department of Education, where I had to write official letters in name of the Secretary of Education and as an Educational Project Manager, where I designed and administered innovative education projects. Educate has being my life and passion.Every person has a unique learning style. Through the years I've been working as a teacher I've learned that school systems aren't designed to fit everyone. Don't worry if your kid seems not to fit. I am a graduate of the University of Central Missouri, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Accounting emphasis. After working in the accounting field, I went on to pursue a career in education. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Elementary Teacher Education and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University. Upon receiving my teaching credentials, I became an elementary teacher and literacy coach and then was promoted to become an elementary principal. I also obtained certification as a K-12 special education teacher and worked as a special education director and teacher.Throughout my career, I have tutored all subject areas in grades K-6 as well as reading, writing, and math in grades 7-8. As an avid reader and writer, I am most passionate about tutoring reading and writing. I love watching students grow as readers building a lifelong passion for reading, and the natural progression in their writing. I also enjoy teaching math and helping students build number sense and confidence in their mathematical abilities.As a passionate educator, I strive to share that passion for learning with students and fellow adult learners. Helping students understand how the learning applies to real life and discovering connections between topics is inspiring and motivates the heart and mind to learn even more. I have worked as an educator for over 18 years, eight years of those working directly with Middle School and High School math students, and six years working with students who struggle with learning disabilities. I have tutored in grades 1-12 for anything from math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry), reading (phonics, comprehension, reading in content areas), writing (essays, research papers, novels), humanities (US and World History, Geography), and test prep (ACT, SAT, PERT, ASVAB). I attended the University of Phoenix where I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. During my teaching degree I have taught first, third and 6th grade for 6 years, and have worked closely with students who had special learning needs such as Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, Epilepsy with severe developmental delay and kids with severe emotional disorders. I love teaching every subject and have a great desire to make learning fun! I have a strong belief that all students can learn with the right environment and the proper outlook on education! I encourage each and every student that they can be successful and that they can be great at school! I love seeing kids go from being discouraged and struggling learners, to excited, confident students! Any child can be lifelong learner, they just need to be encouraged daily that they can be successful and that they can learn! I personally love to read, watch football (HUGE Green Bay Packers and Oregon Ducks fan!) enjoy anything outdoors, I am an avid hunter and I love practicing archery any free time I have! I have 4 kids, ages 8-15! I have a special needs daughter that suffers from Epilepsy since the age of 3 months, so I feel that I have a lot of experience when it comes to struggles that come with exceptional kids! I have a lot of patience and understanding as a parent which makes me an excellent teacher and tutor. I am a registered nurse with experience in behavioral health, emergency care, and post-anesthesia care, and I am currently earning my Master of Science in Nursing with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner focus. Throughout my nursing career, I have learned how important patience, encouragement, and clear communication are when someone is trying to learn something new. Those same values are what I bring to tutoring. I truly enjoy helping students feel more confident. I know how frustrating it can be when a subject feels confusing or overwhelming, especially when you are trying your best. I like to break down difficult concepts into simple steps and use real-life examples whenever possible so the material feels more practical and easier to understand. What I love most about teaching is seeing the moment when something finally clicks for a student. It is rewarding to help someone move from feeling unsure to feeling capable and confident. Education is an art, not a science. Art must start with high expectations and adaptability for students to learn. Standards, expectations, and positive classroom management play integral parts in this educational journey and can impact students greatly. High standards need to come from the teacher and the students, each pushing each other beyond expectations. Both have a responsibility to push each other to achieve, which leading to success.Preparation from both can take many forms:Creating an engaging curriculum that offers a variety of opportunities for practice and success which could include direct learning, cooperative groups, project-based learning, team teaching, cross-curricular units, portfolio, and self-reflection. Both will increase their knowledge base and will help with not become stagnant. Both should be seeking aid and thoughts from mentors, professors, and people in the community. Committee hours for assistance each other, parent communication, and extracurricular activities involving the whole class or part of it as needed.Researching, then choosing a classroom model that fits teaching style and age appropriateness.Student and professor need to read and search topics for discussions before getting into a class. Each should try to find details that will surprise, surpass, context to prior knowledge to make a subject more interesting to the class. Each topic is discussed should be connected to other topics, both within the class, other classes, and the real world. Challenge each other, leads to all involved reach new heights in their learning. Team learning includes admitting and taking responsibility for mistakes, which creates a safe atmosphere to take risks. We all are capable of going beyond each paradigm to find success. It a dysfunction to our students, when the class exceptions are less because of busy schedules, family life, special needs, hard circumstances, or anything for the outside of academia. Teaching to the individual with everyone challenging that specific student helps to pushes expectations and gains self-esteem as well as academic progress for all.A positive classroom makes it safe and free from barriers to learning. Professors need to model taking risks, so students can see professors working on projects as well. Classroom examples and everyone doing projects from students to professor alike. Everyone should be comfortable taking risks within this safe environment.Education is inevitably a well-thought mental process. This journey is so important to learning and planning is essential. Creating progressive curriculum, and a safe, positive classroom allow the dream of learning to take places all around. "Success is a journey, not a destination." (Sweetland, 2001).

Education is the greatest asset a person can have. It's important, but it should also be fun to learn. Many people think education in general is boring when they have to learn about something. I try to keep it light in nature, using humor to help the student be comfortable, but also assist them in gaining confidence while they learn.Using personal experience tends to be helpful also when tutoring. If the student can somehow relate, it is easier for them to retain the information.When I'm not trying to help someone learn, I enjoy spending time with my son reading, photography, wine tastings and crafting. I am a graduate of The University of Nevada Nursing program and University of Phoenix-Online. I received my Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialty emphasis on Healthcare Management MHCM) and am currently in the final year of a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a specialty emphasis on Educational Technology. Since 2004 as a small business owner, I offer healthcare consulting, write curriculum, create/facilitate continuing education seminars and Live N-CLEX Review. I had lived, taught, and tutored in numerous states inclusive of northern and southern California but currently reside in the greater Las Vegas area. In my experiences, I have found it an awesome privilege and personal passion to help challenged or struggling students prepare for Final Exams, Standardized Tests like the ATI Teas, the HESI Admission, the HESI A2, and the N-CLEX state examination (RN, LVN, LPN). I choose to make tutorials uplifting, supportive of student learning style/needs, and as "fun" as possible constantly aware that many topics in nursing or the sciences can seem rather dull or "dry" at times. I believe that every student is unique and capable of being coached to discover his/her inner academic strengths to ensure remarkable progress or advancements in Standardized Testing, Nursing, Leadership, English/Writing/APA papers, or Business courses. My spare time is spent enjoying reading different genres, finding excitement and awe in all science fiction, and feeling warm and fuzzy over a good romance novel with a happy ending. My life is further enriched by church, family, one beautiful granddaughter, classical and jazz music, travel to the beach, and water sports!
