I genuinely believe that when students are struggling much of the time they are overwhelmed. This can be due to many factors. As a tutor my primary job is to discover what is overwhelming and keeping the student stuck. Then to unpack it and simplify it for the student. I use many scaffolding techniques to help my students out. Scaffolding is a technique in which a teacher takes a lesson apart in smaller chunks and reintroduces the information to the student.
