My name is Jennifer Jones, I've been a teacher in Florida for 12+ years specializing in Elementary Education and Math K-Algebra 1. I love sports and spending time with my 7-year-old son. I am Florida certified in Elementary Education and Middle Grades Math and obtained my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from USF and Master's in TESOL from Nova Southeastern University.

I am a graduate of the University of South Florida Sasarota-Manatee. I received my Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Since graduation, I opened my own business in retail and I am trying to find a job as an accountant. My final goal is to be a CPA. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Mathematics. I always loved tutoring and it is a passion I discovered since my first grade. I took the time to help everyone who needed help. When I started college I started working as a tutor and the best feeling in the world was to see how I could get through to other students and help them. Also, I have tutored students in private and help them prepare for SAT and ACT. I know how stressful it is to prepare for Standardized Tests but I believe with hard work anything is possible. I am a firm believer in education, as an important step in the ladder of career and life. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and dancing.

I have been substitute teaching K-12 for 10 years. Prior to substitute teaching, I was employed at a Graduate University. It was a distant learning University and I assisted students, faculty and staff with computer, internet and navigational situations. Working with the rest of the IT team, I suggested fixes to problems instead of just working around the problems. This required analytical skills. I utilize these skills in helping students to connect the dots in their learning. Patience and direction are key elements in educational success. Some subjects I enjoy tutoring are Math, English, and Science. I look forward to tutoring and successfully assisting my students to attain their goals.

Student centered learning is the focus of my instruction. In my experience, a student's individual needs and personality drive instruction. Once an educator has identified the student's strengths and weaknesses, they can use the student's strengths to support their weaknesses. For the past thirty-three years, I have educated students ranging in age from five through adulthood, including those at the graduate level. I am a certified educator in Illinois, and hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Florida Southern College, and a Master of Arts in Reading Education from the University of South Florida. In addition to my graduate degrees, I have been trained as a reading coach to certified educators in reading instruction. To add to my professional credentials, I am a published author in association with Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society for educators, and I have been featured on the podcast channel entitled, New Teacher Talk on the topic of Virtual Tutoring. Literacy has become my passion in education. In working with students as a Varsity tutor for the past four years, I have been able to increase their reading and writing skills by two or three grade levels plus. Presently, I am experiencing success with students who are challenged in reading and writing because of issues with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD. I also work with students who are at different verbal levels of communication. No matter where a student is in their educational development, once they have attained some level of proficiency in both reading and writing skills, they possess the tools of a self-learner.

With a decade of teaching experience, I am deeply passionate about helping students develop a lifelong love for reading. My journey in education began in Georgia, where I completed my undergraduate studies, and continued in Florida, where I became a certified teacher. Furthering my commitment to education, I earned my master's degree in Reading from the University of South Florida. Throughout my career, I have specialized in tutoring all subjects related to reading, English Language Arts (ELA), and writing. I strive to create engaging, supportive learning environments that inspire safety, confidence, and curiosity. My goal is not only to strengthen students' academic skills but also to foster a genuine appreciation for literature and self-expression. Outside of academics, I enjoy reading, snuggling with my two rescue puppers, attending to my growing collection of plants, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and indulging in the occasional well-deserved nap.
