My name is Stephanie Allen, and I have been tutoring students of all grades - from Kindergarten through college for many years, in a variety of subjects ranging from the Humanities to Mathematics and the Sciences. I consider myself a lifelong learner with a passion for education, and I relish being able to help others in their educational endeavors. My approach to tutoring revolves around my belief that everyone has their own approach to learning; as a tutor, it's vital that I respect how the students I work with process and retain information, and help them recognize and utilize their strengths to empower them, which in turn augments their academic abilities. I've also tutored students on research methods and academic writing styles (MLA, APA, etc.).A little about me - I hold three college degrees: I have an A.A. in Psychology, a B.A. in English Literature, and a M.A. in English with concentrations in Writing, Teaching, and Criticism. Besides literature, I also have academic interests in Philosophy, History, Mythology, Spanish language, Art, and the sciences. Culturally, I enjoy attending lectures, the symphony, the opera, visiting art museums. I also enjoy volunteering for charitable organizations.

As a tutor, I strongly believe that education and practice are essential components in becoming more successful. I have a vast variety of educational degrees and personal experiences, that I would like to share with you, so you feel confident that I am a good match to tutor your student.I graduated from Bensalem High School in 2001, and then continued directly to West Chester University. While at college I held two part-time jobs on campus, one was as a Secretary at the Counseling Center, and the other was a tutor for college level Math classes. In May 2005, I graduated from West Chester University with a BSED in Elementary Education. I then continued to Drexel University to obtain my Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate. Finally, I finished getting my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certificate from Cabrini College in 2009.Previously I have tutored for college students, and high school college prep students. This focused on preparing for standardized tests such as SAT's and ACT's, working on college essays and applications, as well as maintaining good grades in regular subject areas. Also, I was a contracted teacher for in 5th grade, 6th grade, and in High School & Elementary School ESL, as well as having student teaching experience in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and various substitute teaching assignments.Personally, I enjoy tutoring Mathematics and Writing the most. Due to my personality of being serious and logical, having one concrete answer helps motivate me to work a problem through to completion. Also, I can be a bit silly and expressive and the ability to have many potential correct great answers allows more freedom to use interesting words to convey a meaning.Outside of teaching and tutoring, I have held another full time job for the past three years, as well as becoming a small business owner. I do not have a plethora of free time, however when I do have a clear agenda, my hobbies include cuddling my cats, watching movies, going to concerts, traveling, taking photographs and sleeping. I take my work very seriously and dedicate my time to achieving goals, but I also have a goofy fun side, that I hope will make me a perfect fit as a tutor for your student!

I graduated from West Chester University of PA in 2014 having received a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Physics. I am a software developer in Manhattan, but feel passionate about teaching. I hope to use tutoring as a stepping stone to one day continue my education in a PhD program to become a professor of computer science.I love math and programming, and hope to help students find their love for these two abstract fields. My philosophy is if I can understand how my student learns, I can help clarify the underlying principles and foundation of the most conceptually important details for a strong understanding in the field. I have had many Math professors throughout undergrad and graduate school and I have found that, although they all know what they are talking about and are all very intelligent, what makes a math teacher great is understanding that not everyone understands things the same way he or she does. Throughout my years tutoring all levels of mathematics, I have developed the ability to readily explore several different viewpoints and methods to help students fully grasp the subject matter. I can present the material in many different ways until we find an approach that works and makes the material easy to understand. Greetings! My name is Zachary Morrow and I am a Pharmaceutical Product Development major at West Chester University's Honors College. This program prepares its graduates to enter the research sector of the pharmaceutical industry. When choosing a tutor, it is important that you are able to not only adapt to their learning style but connect with them on an interpersonal level. My personality is typically outgoing and reliable.In other words, I have a tendency to always be prepared and tackle every problem from multiple angles. My teaching style is dynamic which allows students to always stay interacted. When teaching a certain topic, I will explain some background about the subject and then dive deeper. Every so often I will allow the student to demonstrate what they have learned, and then revisit previous points to create a well rounded experience. I am a very energetic individual with a passion for successful education since, after all, tutors and all educators worldwide are facilitating a brighter future! I have a Master's of Science in Natural Resource Management and Environnental Interpretation from Colorado State University. An undergraduate in Communications (Speech, English and Theater) from West Chester University. I taught high school and began my own businesses after graduating college. I serve on non-profits and also teach through them. I traveled extensively, learning a great deal from teachers and elders of many cultures around the world. I always have had a burning desire to share what I have learned with others through coaching and teaching. This has allowed me to learn a great deal from my students as well. I have taught all age levels from pre-school to seniors and taught at both the high school and university levels. I pursued advanced degrees at Colorado State University, ran a large non-profit for the University and taught classes in many subjects in natural resources, creative writing, public speaking and organizational start ups and operations. I earned Masters of Science in Environmental Interpretation and Natural Resource Management from CSU and was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award for the University in experiential teaching. I was an advisor for approximately 50 students each year while with the University.I am also a life coach and have worked with people in that way as well.Twelve years ago I founded a non-profit with a group of people. Our goal was to teach about nature, sustainable living and the wisdom of past cultures. It was also a platform from which I could offer students help in creative writing, public speaking and personal growth courses. I am a public speaker at many conferences and in the classroom and I have had two books published. A couple of years ago I created the White Otter Academy to bring "Wisdom from the past magically stirred with knowledge from the present as a catalyst to transform your future."I coined the phrase "energetic alchemy" to define how I often teach. I take the 'iron' nuggets of knowledge I have acquired, add my own understandings, mix them together magically and .. often - gold emerges thanks to my teachers. I believe true growth occurs from the acquisition of both formal and informal education. With that said, I require a large dose of fun in any teaching or tutoring I do. I like to also acknowledge all the mistakes I have made along the way and admit what a wonderful teaching resource these are. Through some of the above venues I have brought teaching to groups. I received my undergraduate degree from West Chester University. I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading. In May 2014, I earned my Master's Degree from Cabrini College in Elementary Education. I am certified in: Elementary Education (K-6), Middle School English (7-9) and Middle School Mathematics (7-9). Most of my teaching experience has been with prekindergarten, 2nd, 3rd and 5th grade.I love helping my students achieve their own academic success! I take the time to learn about my students and their personal learning styles, needs and preferences. I often incorporate various learning tools, such as manipulatives, white boards, highlighting tape, flashcards, etc. to help my students grasp the concepts. If a student is not grasping a certain concept, I will present the information in an alternative manner in order for my student to understand the material.I currently teach 3rd grade and love every subject! As a teacher, my favorite part of the day is reading out loud to my students. I love to share my passion of reading with my students through a variety of genres, authors and levels of literature. I take pride in helping my students become lifelong readers with strong reading comprehension skills.I have tutored students in each of the elementary grades with significant focus on English Language Arts and Math. Most of the students I have tutored have been in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. In addition to tutoring during the school year, I also have tutored students over the summer. Some of the areas we focused on were summer reading projects (reading novels and improving reading comprehension), phonics and grammar. We also practiced various writing styles and how to add detail to writing. Helping my students with math was also a significant aspect of both summer and school year tutoring. We worked on various topics in math such as: multiplication and division, fractions, geometry, basic algebra, and word problems. In addition to Math and English Language Arts, I also have tutored students in Science, Social Studies, and Study Skills/ Test Preparation.Outside of school, I love to go for long runs on scenic trails! I also enjoy other areas of health and fitness. I have a passion for cooking (and a little baking) and enjoy experimenting with new recipes. When I am not busy in the kitchen, I enjoy trying new local restaurants with my friends and family. Teaching is my passion; my greatest joy is sharing that passion with you! Dubbed the Queen of Google Docs, I often tutor using color-codes, odd but apt analogies, examples with Batman, corny jokes, and vitally, plans based on YOUR needs and strengths, aiming to aid on not only your current assignment but also relevant skills for future ones. My students often say that I reduce their assignment anxiety, make assignments clearer and more approachable, and help them see their writing in whole new ways. I love when I clarify concepts and students say, "wait, it's that simple?" I've taught writing as a TA (5 years), an adjunct professor (2 years), and a writing center tutor (10+ years). I am now a PhD student.

Hello! I love to teach music and to help others learn and grow. I am always looking for more ways to share my passion and make an impact on the lives of others.I have taught a variety of ages and subjects, from general preschool classes to high school instrumental ensembles. Regardless of the students' ages, however I have always made it a priority to introduce content in a variety of different ways to meet my students where they are and make sure the learning environment is as beneficial to them as possible.I have dual bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Performance from Rowan University, where I worked as a tutor for Music Theory, Music History, and a variety of general education and beginner music courses. I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Trumpet Performance at West Chester University, where I serve as the graduate assistant for the Department of Music Education. I also am the Northeastern Regional Coordinator of the MusicLink Foundation, a non-profit organization providing lessons to those in need.

I enjoyed working as a computer science teacher and English teacher for years before I decided to be a math teacher a few years ago. To me, teaching is an ideal career for me and it provides me the opportunity to work with young people and help them learn and help them get ready for college life. I had some great experiences with classes of students and individual students as well. It was my moment when my students told me that they felt more confident in math and they did better than before in class.
