I am in my 6th year of teaching high school English and I couldn't be happier with the population I teach! I believe one of the most important aspects of being successful in academics is having a strong rapport with a teacher. I have been an English teacher for 20 years. I can't believe that much time has gone by! I love what I do and I love working with students, so it has been time well spent.The many courses that I have taught over the years (see resume) have provided me with diverse strategies that allow me to tailor my instruction to the individual needs of my students.One of the most influential courses in my teaching career has been AP Language and Composition. This course, and the intense training involved in order to be an instructor, redefined the writing process and the analysis of text for both me and my students. I have taught this course for 10 years and not only do my students achieve high success on the College Board AP exam, but their writing improves exponentially.I also taught English 8 for 10 years and employ these writing/critical reading philosophies and effective teaching practices to this younger age group.Outside of my classroom, I have tutored many students over the years in a private setting. I have helped with drafting, organizing, and editing papers for a number of subject areas, as well as moving students through understanding complex text. I have also prepared students, over the course of my entire career, for standardized tests: 10th and 8th grade MCAS, SAT, and AP Language and Composition. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities 5-12) from Westfield State University in 2016. I went on to receive my Master's Degree in Special Education (Severe Disabilities All Levels) from Bridgewater State University in 2019.Since finishing my undergraduate degree I have worked in both public and private schools, with a wide variety of ages and abilities. I have taught United States History, as well as work readiness, life skills, and academic support classes.One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to know each student as a learner. No two students are the same, and it is an exciting challenge to find what strategies work best for each student. IEPs and 504 plans act as a guide for each student, but I like to go deeper than that and find how I as a teacher can best connect the student to the material being studied.

Hello Everyone,I was educated in the field of teaching education beginning with my undergraduate at Westfield State University in Visual Art Education in 2004. In 2013 I enrolled in the TESL Masters program at Salem State University, and graduated from that program in 2016, with a focus on urban and inner city language. I have also almost completed an additional Masters Degree in Special Education from Cambridge College.My experience with students stems from 15 years teaching Special Education in the Lynn Public Schools, as well as the last 4 years as an adjunct professor at North Shore Community College teaching ESL to adults and English Composition 101. I have also mentored with RAW Arts Project LAUNCH where I was paired up with a High School Senior and helped them with the college process. From essay writing, applications, financial aide and more.The subject that I specialize in is teaching ESL to students of all ages involving all aspects: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, as well as grammar and syntax, essay composition and more.My favorite subject that I like to tutor is writing. I love to read a students work and in the process you can learn so much from your student.My teaching philosophy is that all students have the ability to learn, it just takes patience and understanding of your students as individual learners, finding strengths and weaknesses, and getting to know your student on a personal level.My interests outside of teaching are that I am an avid SCUBA diver, as well as an accomplished musician.
