Teaching has always been a passion of mine since I was little. My father taught for 44 years, I taught elementary school (1-4 grades) for 33 years. My goal is to help every student improve on his/her skills.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elem.Ed./Early Childhood from Northwest Missouri State University. Three years later I obtained my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from William Woods University. Later that same year, I received my certification in Special Education grades K-12.Over the last 20 years, I have taught/worked with all grades K-12. I have taught in both public and private schools, and I am currently teaching in a residential therapeutic school. I definitely enjoy new challenges and working with a wide variety of students!Although I love working with all students, I am most passionate about working with elementary/middle school students who are struggling in the areas of math, reading/writing, and language. With my wide range of experience and knowledge, Im able to personalize a plan of study for your child, and then work closely with you and your child to reach their goals.My belief in education is very solid. In order for a child to have success in their lives, they first need to have an appreciation for learning, and experience the rewards of that learning. As your childs tutor, I will help to bridge the gap between your childs learning and success. With my enthusiasm and dedication, your child will be able to learn through a variety of teaching techniques and fun learning activities!

Hello! My name is Jennifer. I am a certified English Language Arts teacher and currently teach 7th grade English Language Arts. I have experience teaching Pre-K through high school. I have previously worked as a tutor teaching reading skills and intervention to students in grades K-12. I specialize in reading comprehension.

My interest in educating students dates back to my years in high school, when all I wanted to do is work with my peers in assisting them with their studies. Throughout my high school career, I was involved in multiple opportunities that allowed for me to foster my skills as I was part of the Drama club, School Leadership committee, Music Scholars as well as an graduate of the Inroads Business Program. It seemed only logical that I pursue a career in education, as my background was so eclectic.When I began my undergraduate career, I had the opportunity to be exposed to the full range of education courses, all of which tended to reinforce and solidify my intense interest in teaching. I've also had the opportunity to study a number of subjects in the social sciences and they have been both enjoyable and enlightening, providing me with a new and different perspective on the world in which we live.In the realm of education, I have plethora of experiences. My career began by receiving my BA in education. I taught Elementary Education with my focus in early literacy, comprehension and fluency. A few years later, I began my Masters in Counseling. I worked successfully as an elementary counselor until I received my Ed. Specialist in Leadership and Superintendency. I have been in a leadership role for 9 years. Four of the nine years were at the High School Level, which was a tremendously great experience. Of course, my plans to enter a doctoral program are near.I have developed a special interest in the field of education and school leadership and have even been tasked with taking on a building of over 700 students and 70 staff this coming school year. I have been effective at building solid student, teacher and parent relationships. I have met the challenge of holding teachers accountable for their students learning in turn being a part of student growth and success. I can identify, teach, and coach the Common Core standards for elementary students as well as transfer my knowledge of effective research based strategies to meet the college and career standards.

In sharing my qualifications and interests, I hope to provide you with tremendous confidence in my abilities to not only establish a strong rapport with you, but to also be an exceptional teacher in arithmetic, elementary math, middle school math, and pre-algebra!I currently have seven years of experience teaching upper elementary education. The last two years of my career were spent in Hong Kong at an international Christian school. During this time, I learned a lot about how to connect with a wide variety of students and learning styles. In 2007, I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education at Missouri Western State University and, in 2010, I completed my Master's in Elementary Administration at William Woods University.I consider myself to be a creative individual, with a variety of interests including family, outdoors, and music. Almost every Sunday, my wife, my daughter, and I go to my parents' house to have lunch and spend time with my family. When I lived in Hong Kong, this was something that I really missed a lot! My interest in music is rooted in the fact that I was in band all through school and college. I can play the Euphonium, a little piano, guitar, harmonica, and the mandolin. And if you are wondering what kinds of things I like to do outdoors, it would most definitely be hiking and fishing! In fact, I almost wish I could be outdoors catching some fish right now!

I am passionate about helping students to increase their confidence and to make learning fun. Throughout my college years, I have been working with students during summer breaks grades prek-12th grade. I earned my Bachelors degree in science at William Woods University with a minor in musical theatre. I used to major in vet tech at Medaille College until the campus closed. My favorite subjects I love teaching are reading, literature, English, grammar, history, geography, writing, essay writing, voice, music, dance, theatre, audition prep, Kindergarten preparation, elementary mathematics, spelling, Spanish, ethics, and elementary science along with middle school science because I love writing, reading and anything to do with theatre, grammar, animals. Plus I understand and am fluent in Spanish.

I am a graduate of William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, with a major in Special Education. I hold a Missouri teaching certificate in the areas of Learning Disabled, Educable Mentally Retarded and Art K-9. After 32 years of teaching I have recently retired. While I have experience teaching all grade levels, I especially enjoy upper elementary, middle and high school ages. During my years teaching, I taught all academic subjects as well as life skills. Teaching reading, science and math are my passions. My teaching style is a cross between direct instruction and inquiry-based learning, which focuses on student investigation and hands-on learning. I use a strong phonics approach to reading. Education should teach basic knowledge, while fostering critical thinking, creativity, and interpersonal skills. It should spark curiosity and the imagination, instill a passion for lifelong learning and above all, it should be fun!. Being able to be a part of this experience is a great joy.

I served as an administrator of a K-12 Tutoring program for sixteen years and have tutored students in a broad range of subjects at the elementary, middle school, high school and college level.
