I am currently a fourth year medical student at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and graduated Suma Cum Laude from Yeshiva College with a BA in Biology and Music. As a Writing Center tutor, I worked with undergraduate and graduate students looking to improve their writing, and have also tutored Regents-level biology and chemistry. Most recently, I tutored for Kaplan, teaching an MCAT preparatory course and working one-on-one with students. When not studying, I like to ride my bike, train Taekwondo, play blues guitar (or bass, or piano, or saxophone, or drums), and read a good book.My tutoring philosophy is one of individualized attention and goal setting, where the tutor and the student work together to set realistic goals, and then identify the roadblocks preventing the student from achieving his or her goal. We then work together to surmount these obstacles, allowing the student to actualize his or her goal. I also try to identify the source of a student's obstacles, and work to solve these fundamental issues as well. I am a big believer in teaching someone how to learn, not just teaching material.

Full-time MBA student at NYU Stern (Graduating May 2018), beginning a career in Investment Banking upon graduation. Undergraduate English major at Yeshiva University (BA '11) graduated cum laude. Experience working with students of all ages and skill levels. During my free time: I am a big sports fan (football, baseball, and hockey) and enjoy Crossfit training, cooking and baking, and winter sports (snowboarding and skiing).

Your passing grade is both of our goals! I welcome all students to study together to obtain that license and realize their dreams!
I am passionate about teaching English, a journey I embraced after retiring from a fulfilling career in the medical field. With a Master's in Social Work from Yeshiva University and over 5 years of tutoring experience, I have developed a student-centered approach that tailors lessons to meet individual needs. My background in ESL tutoring at a public library allowed me to work with diverse adult learners, helping them navigate language and cultural barriers. Recently, I earned my TESOL certification and have expanded my focus to elementary students, where I employ engaging methods, including technology and interactive discussions, to foster reading and writing skills. I find immense joy in facilitating learning and assisting students in their academic journeys, making each lesson a collaborative and enriching experience.
I recently joined the team at Varsity Tutors and am very excited. I started my tutoring career in college, helping elementary and high school students with Math and English. After graduating from Yeshiva University, I continued my studies at Cardozo Law School. I have been a lawyer for five years, and I am planning now to shift to a more educational career. Last year I worked at a small tutoring center, and I decided to branch out even more and work here.Since Math and English are heavily tested subjects, I've had the opportunity to help many students in these areas. They actually have some significant similarities: they're both very structured and based on sets of rules. You just have to know the rules and how to apply them. And because of the structure, I think of Math and English problems as puzzles; it makes solving them easier, and it can even make them fun!Aside from tutoring, two of my favorite hobbies are crosswords and Scrabble (no surprise there!). I even have a few published crosswords of my own. Tennis is another hobby of mine, both watching and playing. I also enjoy traveling; my next trip is to Peru and I can't wait!
I am currently at Yeshiva University striving to attain a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Afterwards, my goal is to pursue a Master's degree in Special Education. While I like teaching almost all subjects, Math and English are the ones I enjoy the most. I am extremely interested in teaching students and helping them achieve the goals they set out for themselves. It is so important for students to notice their own strengths and feel confident in their learning. Additionally, I am passionate about developing different strategies and techniques to teach students who learn at different paces. It is so important to respect and take note of the diversity amongst students to ensure no one gets left behind. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing in my sketchbook and baking. I also enjoy a good swim to stay a bit active.
I have a BA in Chemistry from Yeshiva University and recently finished an MA in Chemistry from Columbia University. I was a TA for organic chemistry lab/lecture and have done a bunch of other tutoring as well. Obviously chemistry rocks, but I also enjoy tutoring SAT and GRE math!
I've always known I wanted to teach. Once I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology/Neuroscience, I decided to pursue a Masters degree in Education. I love working with classrooms full of students, but I also love working with people one-on-one. I find that when the tutor has a chance to zero in on and accommodate a students' individual needs and learning style, the experience becomes more productive and enjoyable for everyone involved.
I am a graduate of Queens College. I received my Bachelor in Science and Communication Disorders. Many of my classes incorporated English and science so I have a strong foundation for these two areas. Since graduation, I have been tutoring children of all ages in reading and English. If writing a essay or analyzing a article is difficult for you, I can certainly help! While I tutor in science and other subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Reading. I have been tutoring since high school in a program called peer mentoring, where I worked one-on-one with students. I have seen students progress tremendously with my help and guidance. I am patient, creative with my lesson plans, and encourage students to implement the strategies we use in our lesson plans in their individual work. This encourages independent thinking and success when working alone. I believe every student has potential and I am looking forward to helping student meet their fullest potential.

I was born in South Africa but grew up mainly in St. Louis, Missouri. I achieved a 33 on my ACT, and enrolled in the honors program at Yeshiva University in Manhattan. Before attending college I studied abroad for three years. Upon returning to America I graduated summa cum ladue from Yeshiva University with a degree in Biology. In college I ran a program of over 120 college students who tutored at public schools in Washington Heights. I recruited tutors, coordinated the program with the principals of the schools, and held events to help the tutors maximize their helpfulness to the public school students. I, furthermore, have served as a tutor in the program. My hobbies include karate, tennis, and playing the mandolin.
I have been tutoring Pre-medical students for the past 7 years. My goal is to make the complicated easy and understandable. I try to create a comfortable environment conducive for learning. Every tutoring session will consist of a comprehensive breakdown and discussion of the subject material followed by questions to assess students weak points. Subsequent sessions will also consist of a quick review on previous topics discussed before introducing new topics. Over the years, I have found that this method works exceptionally well with students.I have found great success as a tutor because I know how to explain difficult concepts to struggling students. Because of the breadth of my knowledge and education, I can easily explain complex concepts in a number of different ways until I find the approach that works best for each student. I tailor my teaching method to each student based on their unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. I keep my tutoring sessions relaxed and stress-free, while still pushing my students to challenge themselves and reach new academic heights. I believe that each student is capable of so much more than they realize, and it is a thrill and a joy to help unlock their potential for success.I also have experience helping students with college admissions essays as well as admissions counseling and preparations. My essays have helped me gain admission to Columbia, Yale, and Johns Hopkins.I have attended Columbia University for my MS in Biotechnology and prior to that i have received my BS in Biology with Honors. I have took over 70 advance Biology courses such as: Biological Sequence Analysis (Bioinformatics), Genomic Sequencing, Proteomics, Cellular & Molecular Immunology, Bio-Physics, Single Molecule Approaches, Biotechnology, Drugs & Disease, Emergence of Infectious Diseases, Bio-pharmaceuticals. I am passionate about biology and would love to help you out with the topic. In 2011, i have started to teach MCAT prep courses for Kaplan both online and on NYU campus. Soon after, I started to teach MCAT in private settings as i have discovered many different ways to boost the MCAT scores and many of my students received great results from my tutoring. I found out that most MCAT students struggle with the MCAT due to lack of study skills and discipline; therefore, i write a daily and weekly schedule for my students and i keep my eyes on their progress. in the past few years , i have students accepting in high prestigious Medical Schools such as Columbia, Cornell, NYU, MSSM and many others. For students with difficult schedules or that live far away, I am available for online tutoring as well as remote essay and project revisions. I recently graduated from Stern College for Women at Yeshiva University with a B.A. in Computational Mathematics. Throughout my academic career, I developed a passion for teaching and mentoring students through my work as a Statistics Teaching Assistant, Computer Science Teaching Assistant, Peer Tutor, and high school mathematics substitute teacher. I have experience helping students succeed in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and related subjects. My approach focuses on identifying each student's unique learning style and breaking down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and developing independent problem-solving skills.
