I am passionate about helping students to gain confidence in public speaking. Helping them to feel prepared and ready for the material they're presenting, as well as going over tone and core concepts of public speaking. I also help with college essays. Mine got me into my college of choice, Agnes Scott College. I am excited to help my students in their steps to a great college essay.

I graduated from Agnes Scott College with a Bachelor Degree in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. I have had tutoring experience since high school, when I tutored primary and middle school students math and English. I was also involved in grading and tutoring activities (maths, English and diction) at the Global Village School in Decatur GA for a year. During my college years, I worked as a Learning Assistant for Math Learning Center supporting courses in calculus and statistics for two years. I really enjoy working with students of all levels and observing progress over the time. Persistence, focus, and a little bit research on how to study smarter are what I want to work on with my students and for my own development.Beyond my interest in tutoring students with math skills, I have a passion for social science, business and marketing and am working to get a Master in Marketing and Market Research next year. I have spent the past three years working in Chicago Public Schools, earning my teaching license through The New Teacher Project, and developing my personal teaching style in two diverse schools with very underserved populations of students. Working for Chicago Public Schools for three years has taught me an enormous amount about reaching students who are deemed by many as "unreachable." I want to bring the skills I've learned as a teacher to a wider group of students through Varsity Tutors. Before deciding to get my teaching license, I received my master's degree in music cognition from Goldsmiths College, University of London, where I also worked for a year in an electroencephalography lab. I am an undergraduate Pre-Pharmacy student at the University of Georgia working towards my Bachelor's in Chemistry. From a very young age, I have been exposed to other languages outside of English. I am French from my father's side, and grew up speaking the language. I am also fluent in Spanish, having grown up in a small town in Spain for 11 years. I also worked as an English babysitter (two families with children ages 3-7) for 6 months when I was living in Paris, getting them interested in the language through interactive activities.These experiences have helped me understand that learning different languages is an extremely rewarding experience, and that everyone has a different approach to processing and understanding a foreign language. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Agnes Scott and my graduate degree in business from Georgia Tech. At Agnes Scott I took education courses in addition to my psychology and core courses. My education courses were taken in conjunction with tutoring assignments at local schools. My tutoring experience helped me develop a passion for education; it is exciting to see students learn and grow academically. I believe that all students are capable of learning. I want my students to feel free to ask questions about the material being studied, but also to be challenged by the assignments. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, English, and reading. I am an undergrad student at Agnes Scott college, currently pursuing bachelors in neuroscience and biomedical engineering. I taught a Statistics Lab to undergraduate and graduate students for two years at LSU and offered outside of the classroom tutoring. I can help students with either classroom material or using statistical computer programs (SAS, SPSS, JMP, R). I have a naturally outgoing personality and infinite patience. I am a recent magnet high school graduate, and although I excelled in all academic subjects, I did not always understand math and science concepts right when the teacher taught them. I had to bridge that gap by reasoning through material on my own, which has equipped me to explain it creatively to others.
