I graduated from Agnes Scott College with a Bachelor Degree in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. I have had tutoring experience since high school, when I tutored primary and middle school students math and English. I was also involved in grading and tutoring activities (maths, English and diction) at the Global Village School in Decatur GA for a year. During my college years, I worked as a Learning Assistant for Math Learning Center supporting courses in calculus and statistics for two years. I really enjoy working with students of all levels and observing progress over the time. Persistence, focus, and a little bit research on how to study smarter are what I want to work on with my students and for my own development.Beyond my interest in tutoring students with math skills, I have a passion for social science, business and marketing and am working to get a Master in Marketing and Market Research next year. In my free time, you can find me cooking Asian foods, listening to my favorite music channels on Pandora, planning my traveling with friends or being engaged in some chess games.

I have spent the past three years working in Chicago Public Schools, earning my teaching license through The New Teacher Project, and developing my personal teaching style in two diverse schools with very underserved populations of students. Working for Chicago Public Schools for three years has taught me an enormous amount about reaching students who are deemed by many as "unreachable." I want to bring the skills I've learned as a teacher to a wider group of students through Varsity Tutors. Before deciding to get my teaching license, I received my master's degree in music cognition from Goldsmiths College, University of London, where I also worked for a year in an electroencephalography lab. Every day in my classroom I aim to learn as much as teach. Preparing the world's future critical thinkers is a privilege I take very seriously.

I am an Agnes Scott College graduate, with a BA in Psychology and a minor in French. I am part of the French Honors Society and have tutored college students as a French tutor at an advanced level. From a very young age, I have been exposed to other languages outside of English. I am French from my father's side, and grew up speaking the language. I am also fluent in Spanish, having grown up in a small town in Spain for 11 years. I also worked as an English babysitter (two families with children ages 3-7) for 6 months when I was living in Paris, getting them interested in the language through interactive activities. These experiences have helped me understand that learning different languages is an extremely rewarding experience, and that everyone has a different approach to processing and understanding a foreign language. When tutoring my students, I let them know that learning a new language is like discovering a new world view, as I find many languages such as French have words and expressions are unique to the language.I am also very passionate about Psychology, in which I recently conducted a group study on the bilingual brain and facial recognition speed. Much of my work as a tutor/instructor have involved meeting my student's individual needs and using the best psychologically proven approaches to teaching.

I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Agnes Scott and my graduate degree in business from Georgia Tech. At Agnes Scott I took education courses in addition to my psychology and core courses. My education courses were taken in conjunction with tutoring assignments at local schools. My tutoring experience helped me develop a passion for education; it is exciting to see students learn and grow academically. I believe that all students are capable of learning. I want my students to feel free to ask questions about the material being studied, but also to be challenged by the assignments. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, English, and reading. Since these are my areas of certification, I feel most comfortable teaching these subjects.

I am an undergrad student at Agnes Scott college, currently pursuing bachelors in neuroscience and biomedical engineering. I grew up in a STEM focused household, and though I've always been inclined in those fields I've also always loved making art in whatever way I can.I love teaching and tutoring, and have ever since I led study sessions for my friends back in middle school. I've helped people with Math, Science, and standardized tests.Since I have ADHD myself, it's easier for me to understand the struggles of trying to learn while you are neurodivergent. I try to put this perspective into my own teaching, and take students' individual strengths into account.

I am a recent magnet high school graduate, and although I excelled in all academic subjects, I did not always understand math and science concepts right when the teacher taught them. I had to bridge that gap by reasoning through material on my own, which has equipped me to explain it creatively to others. I also taught myself to take the ACT and have a strong understanding of how to strengthen those test-taking skills. I have worked with young children as a dance teacher for the past three years, and I tutored peers in my high school last year. I love problem-solving with students to present information in a way with which they can work! I feel like we are on a team, finding a way to tackle the material in order to win new understanding of the world. I am passionate about History, and best at tutoring English and Math. I also have extensive dance and choral experience, which I love to share with others!
