Everyone CAN learn how to do anything but our path to get there is as unique as we are!As a Special Education Teacher for over ten years I have a great deal of experience working with a wide variety of students. I have great ideas for organization and executive functioning that can benefit all students. I specialize in working with middle and high school students who are having a difficult time learning new concepts in traditional ways.I have a Masters Degree in Education and am certified to teach students from elementary through high school in a ton of academic content areas.When I am not currently teaching in the classroom or tutoring students I enjoying spending time with my husband and our two boys traveling and going on adventures. I am also a goalie for a ball hockey team and we travel up and down the coast playing against other teams. Nothing like standing in front of those slap shots to keep you on your toes and ready for the next opportunity.

I received my Master's Degree in 2012 from American International College and I am MA State certified in Moderate Special Needs, English and History. I received my BA in Liberal Studies from Westfield State University in 1997 and my 2nd BA in Philosophy from D'Youville College in 2003. As a Special Needs Teacher I plan meaningful lessons based on students' goals, objectives, grade level benchmarks, and common core objectives. I currently tutor adults in Agile Project Management and PMP exam preparation, drawing on my work in IT, business analysis, and project leadership. For over four years, I served as a contractor in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties through the No Child Left Behind program, tutoring English Language Arts, Math, and basic computer programming. I hold a Master's in Information Technology, a Bachelor's in Management of Organizational Development, and completed 30 graduate units in Education before shifting my focus to technology and business. I arrived from Honduras twenty five years ago. I had my High School diploma and I did not speak a word of English. I went to school and worked hard to achieve my ultimate goal which was to be the first one in my family to earn a college degree. My children now are following my footsteps. I specialize in 2 areas: 1. Spanish: I have taught Spanish formally and informally and am passionate about helping you learn a second language. I lived for years in Mexico and can say that learning another language opens a world of possibilities! I try to implement fun, repetitive activities into language learning to make it memorable. 2. College Admissions & Financial Aid: I have a been a school counselor and college counselor for years and have helped many students get into college with excellent financial aid packages. In my opinion, these two terms are synonymous in that they have precisely the same outcome. Help is something that I always strive to do throughout my career. Thankfully, this is something that I have been able to do in many different capacities.While I don't think I'm the smartest person, or that I'm the most gifted, one thing I am exceptional at is seeing patterns. This has allowed me to assimilate teaching styles and methods from others and use them as my own. It has allowed me to look at other leaders in the school and pull from different leadership qualities and traits. It is from the people around me and the people that have guided me that I owe my steep career trajectory to.Simply put, I just aim to help. I am a 6th grade learning specialist at a Massachusetts Public School. I also worked in Marlborough as a para-educator for 7 1/2 years in grades 1-4. I specialize in modifying and shaping lessons to students' needs. I have experience with children who have: dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, add/adhd, developmental delays, neurological disorders, brain trauma, autism spectrum disorder, communication disorders and executive functioning delays.Favorite subjects include: elementary math (k-6), social studies, ELA and writing. I am an English Language Arts Teacher and primarily work with students that need support with reading, writing, and executive functioning. It is rewarding when you have seen students with lower reading levels in the 9th grade, then go off to college at the end of their 12th grade year. I have a Master of Education in Moderate Disabilities and currently teach grades 7-12. I have supported students with preparing for many standardized tests, such as the MCAS, the ACCUPLACER, and the ACT/SAT English Portions of the exam.
