My educational journey has tested my patience and resilience. I had to be determined to make it through. High school studies were a nightmare, but I was able to recover in college until I obtained my Master's degree in Social Work. I have a share of personal and professional experiences that have anchored me in being able to mentor, tutor, or teach. I take much pride and joy in knowing that I can contribute to helping students achieve their short or long term goals in academia. My philosophy as a tutor --- what you fear is what you attract; therefore, think success.

I am passionate about helping students because I genuinly care about them and really enjoy interacting with them. I've been teaching for 22 years and I have a undergraduate degree in biology, a masters degree in teaching (Rockford University) and a masters' degree in educational leadership (AuroraUniversity). I am most passionate about teaching Spanish/English reading, phonics and science I am certified prek-12 for bilingual and ESL education and specialeducation. Even though I have not taught adults yet, I am able and interested in teaching conversational Spanish. Outside of the classroom I am caring for the animals on my farm, knitting, watching telelvision or gardening.

I have been in education for a long time! I've held roles such as teacher, administrator, mentor, instructional coach, and program coordinator in the Denver Metro area, West Chicago, and central Massachusetts. I have taught a variety of courses within secondary education, working collaboratively to increase student achievement and pursue issues of social justice. I enjoy teaching adults too; for example, I teach future teachers at the college level and supervise teacher candidates. I am passionate about training and retaining high-quality educators and providing equitable access to rigorous programs for every middle and high school student. I have a doctorate in Curriculum, Teaching, Leadership, and Learning from Northeastern University in Boston.

My strong interest in helping students achieve understanding in the different levels of math began when I saw students struggling at a young age. I received a Masters in Teaching and began 15+ years of tutoring Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2 and PreCalculus in a one on one setting. I feel that it is extremely important for the student not only to understand the concepts of what they are learning but also to apply it to the world around us. When I'm not working with students I enjoy spending time learning new teaching techniques as well as gardening, walking, running and traveling.

I am an outgoing, energetic, and passionate teacher. I currently teach students K-5 with specials needs in a diverse community.I cannot wait to see the individualized growth in each and every student I teach!

I am a current K through 8th grade teacher. I became interested in teaching young children while in college. During this time I volunteered at a local elementary school. While tutoring I helped teach Kindergarten through 4th grade students how to read and comprehend text. I have most recently taught second, third, and fourth grades and will be teaching 5th grade during the 2016-2017 school year. I enjoy to teach yourng students mathematic because I enjoy using manipulatives either virtual or tangible to help students learn.I have been involved with private tutoring for about six months now. This school year I have tutored students in groups of three.I am currently in the process of adding a mathematics endorsement to my teaching license. I will also be improving my practice by returning to school next winter to pursue an Ed.D program.

I have been an English teacher for 25 years. I have also co-taught in social studies and science classrooms. I have a Master's in Education & Curriculum, a Master's in Educational Leadership, and a Master's in Literacy Education. I have worked as an Illinois state-certified high school reading specialist for the past several years. My daily classes involve working with struggling readers as well as preparing students for the reading portion of the PSAT/SAT/ACT tests. I also have extensive experience teaching students how to read text for information (non-fiction) and take effective notes on material.

I am passionate about helping students achieve academic growth, learn to think critically, build confidence, and develop skills that extend beyond the classroom. I believe kids learn best in a supportive, appropriately challenging environment where learning is scaffolded to meet their individual needs and gradually builds independence. I have been teaching for over 14 years with a bachelor's in psychology, a master's in education, and another master's in curriculum and instruction.

I want to be a positive light for all students, especially those who find school to be difficult. Many times a student has experienced challenges with reading which causes them to not enjoy it as much mostly because it has been hard for them.I am passionate about literacy and I make it my goal to help the students gain a positive reading experience that will foster a love for literacy and learning. Hopefully this positive light will carry over into their future.My experience in working with students is with kindergarten through eighth graders in the school setting. I have been a 5th grade classroom teacher for 10 years, then I served as a 7th and 8th grade teacher for 3 years. More recently I spent 8 years as a Reading Specialist for grades K-4 before becoming a Principal for a K-3 elementary school.I earned my Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University, then I earned my first Master's degree in Reading Instruction from Aurora University. Recently, I earned a second Master's degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University.My favorite subjects to tutor are Reading, Writing and English Language Arts. These are my favorite because I am an avid reader and I find enjoyment in escaping to the setting of the book as a character from the story.In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and new granddaughter. I also love family vacations by the water, swimming, biking, walking, and reading.
