Hello Everyone! My name is Jessica Morency and I'm so excited to be a tutor. A few things about me is I have a very bubbly personality, I have held multiple student leader positions throughout my education, and I have a deep sense of empathy. I am currently pursuing my Bachelors in Social Work and I hope to work in a school district to create proper programs for children in unstable housing. My first ever teaching experience was as a Sunday School teacher in my church at the age of 14. From then I have volunteered in multiple Emerging Leaders programs where I have taught, mentored, and served young students in the community to be there better selves. I believe going the extra mile creates impactful memories that will serve us for a lifetime, and my goal with a student is to do just that. I hope you're willing to let me be apart of your journey.

I am a recent medical school graduate from St. Georges University School of Medicine. My Alma mater is Barry University from which I received a Bachelors of Science with a major in Biology. I first began tutoring when I was in college and have tutored a wide array of topics including AP Spanish, High School Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. My teaching style is a more inclusive approach so that my students are exposed to auditory, visual and tactile learning as appropriate for the subject. Tutoring has been an extremely rewarding experience and my goal for every student is that they feel confident, learn key organizational skills necessary for success, and excel in every aspect possible.
I have a B.S. in Biology and a masters in Biomedical Sciences. And I just finished medical school and received my MD in June 2015. I love education and have been a student for a very long time. I have a tremendous amount of experience when dealing with students. Teaching is one my greatest passions and I really enjoy working with students. Having been in school for a long time helps me relate to the students more. Every student has a different style when it comes to learning, so I would work with them and cater to that.I am very interested in learning about other cultures and thus love to travel. I have lived and studied abroad. One of my favorite things to do is to walk around the city and explore new places and various neighborhoods. I have made it my goal to visit all of the museums this year. I lead a very healthy life style and enjoy exercising 4-5 times per week. Continued learning is very important therefore I visit the local library a few times per month in order to read different books.
I have previous experience tutoring 5th grade students in math, science, and reading comprehension, in preparation for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), which was a previous standardized test in the state of Texas. My students at that time consistently gave me feedback that they understood concepts that they were previously struggling with, after having a tutoring session with me.My educational background consists of completing a master's degree in clinical medical sciences (physician assistant studies) and completing a bachelor of arts degree in biology. I previously worked as a physician assistant for almost 2.5 years in the specialties of primary care and oncology, and truly enjoyed taking care of patients. I consider myself to be hardworking, patient, friendly, and great with children. I was born and raised in Houston, TX and love to spend my free time with my family and friends, volunteering, and studying spirituality.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and my Master's in Biomedical Science. Since graduation, I have been tutoring students for five years in variety of subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Math and Reading. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Sciences, and Math. I've tutored students ranging from elementary to college level in subjects, and in my experience helping students has improved their performance in their studies as well as helped to grow an appreciation for the material. I assist students in not just learning the material but provide resources as well as techniques they can use for better retention of material. I am a firm proponent of education, believing any material can be learned if paired with the right learning method and I try to impart this lesson to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, computer repair, and exercising.
I graduated from Barry University in Miami, Florida, where I received my Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology / Chemistry, with a minor in French. After graduation, I worked for hospitals and various pharmaceutical / biologics companies where I developed curriculum and taught students and held workshops for healthcare sales professionals in the US and Latin / South America. When in these countries, the teaching was held totally in Spanish or Spanish/English. I also taught topics in Petroleum Engineering online to adults all over the world.I am quirky, funny, creative, enthusiastic, but patient and non-judgmental. My versality allows me to match my teaching method to my student's learning style.Although I teach various subjects, I am most passionate about teaching ESL. Having immigrated to the US as a child, with no knowledge of the English language, I was bullied by school mates for not knowing how to speak English.I watched my parents struggle to just communicate. I quickly realized the importance of being able to converse in English in order to just "survive" in a new country and improve the quality of our lives. Our struggles spurred me to become certified and teach ESL (online and in person) to adults and children, in order to help them succeed in life and mainstream into society. I have translated and voiced over films from English to Spanish for the Diocese of Dallas.I believe the relationship between student and teacher has to be one of desire and interest on both parts. The student has to desire to learn; while the teacher has a desire and enthusiasm to teach and share their knowledge. Without interest there is no learning or sharing.Whether I'm teaching Spanish, English, ESL, cooking or petroleum engineering, I want to share my enthusiasm in the subject so that the student enjoys learning and assimilating the information and is successful in accomplishing their goals. In my spare time, I like to cook; hike; go on photography shoots; dance and read.
