I earned my bachelor's degree in accounting from Northeastern Illinois University. My MBA with a concentration in accounting and healthcare administration was earned only through Benedictine University. I really love the online experience, so I attended Nova Southeastern University online and earned my master's degree in taxation. Currently I am taking two courses in data analytics from St. Leo University online starting in January 2020. Then I am going to start working on my DBA in accounting starting in May. In addition, I am studying for the CPA exam and the United States Tax Court Exam. I have taught and tutored financial, managerial, cost, intermediate accounting both online and in the classroom. I do not have a favorite course to tutor as they are all different and present unique challenges to students. IN other words, I love them all!!!! My teaching philosophy/ tutoring style is to present the material in a way that students can understand and work them through the problems asking questions of the students along the way. Outside of academia I like to play classical piano, sing opera, hang out with my dog, go to the beach, and just chill. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. My mother taught early childhood development, and I just inherited her love of pouring into little people. Since my college days, when students still carried books, I've had experience working with students. I would assist my classmates while they worked on their class presentations, and it was simple for me to see how the content should be arranged. As soon as I learned something, I would impart it to someone else. Then people started coming to me for advice, so I decided to make it my career in 2006 and started teaching postsecondary nutrition science courses. I rapidly rose to the position of top professor at the school, and there was always a waiting list for my classes. My education began long before I entered a traditional school because my mother worked in early childhood development, but I formally began in an elementary magnet school, continued on to Morgan Park High School, then graduated and attended Northern Illinois University and completed my degree in four years. I went on to earn my master's degree in public health and finished my dietetic coursework to become a Registered dietitian. At Northcentral University, I'm finishing up a doctoral degree with a focus on executive function development, persistence, early college transition, and social capital principles. I can tutor in the areas of nutrition science, food service math, executive functioning development, and dietetic exam preparation, public speaking, writing; but I am most passionate about executive functioning development (time management, organization, attention, and self-control) because there are so many resources, tools, and strategies that can be shared with everyone. My approach to teaching is to make the classroom a welcoming and comfortable place where students may explore their interests and learn more about their interests while turning those interests into information that will help them in their chosen goals. I firmly believe in providing pupils with structure and standards so they can develop with support and interdependence. I enjoy working with different types of students and helping them achieve their goals. I have my teaching certificate in Elementary Education from Benedictine University. I did my clinicals with 1st and 3rd graders in Reading and Math, and my student teaching in 2nd grade. I have also volunteered in a first grade classroom helping with Writing. While I have worked with 1st through 3rd graders, I like working with all elementary and middle school students. My favorite subject is Math but I also love Reading. I am a medical student who took time off between my 3rd and 4th year to conduct orthopedic research at NYU medical center. I love the medical field and would like to pursue a career in orthopedics. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. I received my undergraduate degree - B.A. in English Literature and Secondary Education - from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. My previous teaching/tutoring experience includes a semester of student teaching 11th grade students in English at James B. Conant High School and engaging in one-on-one tutoring in Reading and Language Arts. Additionally, I do possess some experience working with ESL students.
