I am currently a fourth year medical student at Thomas Jefferson medical school. I graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Studio Art. While at Brandeis, I served as a teaching assistant for the introductory organic chemistry course and had the opportunity to closely work with professors to develop teaching plans to lead structured small group learning sessions. I was honored to receive the Emily Dudek Undergraduate Teaching Award for my commitment to my students and their success in the class. Since graduation, I have conducted research in Radiation Oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and am pursuing a medical degree. I am currently a PhD student in high energy theoretical physics at New York University, with research interests in quantum gravity and holography. Prior to starting my PhD, I completed my Bachelor's at Brandeis University in Physics and Pure Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science. Throughout my time at Brandeis and NYU, I have been a teaching assistant for various physics courses, ranging from introductory physics for pre-medical students to quantum mechanics and general relativity. My teaching experience so far has been a mix of in-person and online, leading recitation sections, classes, and study sessions. I have a particular fondness for teaching introductory physics courses, since I've always hated hearing people say "I hated physics in high school" or "you have to be a genius to study physics", the latter of which is certainly not true (trust me). I think, when done properly, teaching physics to students for the first time can be unbelievably rewarding. I love giving students a better understanding of the world around them, and helping them to appreciate all the science behind the technologies they use daily. I have also helped my students in the past with reviewing calculus, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and other more advanced areas of mathematics as they appear in physics. From having taught and tutored mathematics and physics in the past, I have found that solving problems is absolutely essential to learning the material. So, during tutoring sessions I dedicate a substantial amount of time to solving problems based around the material covered. Physics and mathematics lectures tend to lean more theoretical in nature, so I believe that tutoring should serve as a practical supplement to the otherwise dense and theoretical lectures. Of course, I also see the value in having theoretical-style lectures, and enjoy teaching those. However, especially for students who are just beginning to learn physics and mathematics, seeing many MANY worked examples is crucial to internalizing the material. Moreover, having these tutoring sessions be interactive, where I can ask the students questions and they can ask me questions, seems to intellectually stimulate students far more than if I were just talking to them. Outside of academia, I enjoy exercise, training jiu jitsu and muay thai, reading, listening to music, and spending time with my family. As of late, my reading mostly consists of Christian theology (Thomas Aquinas and the various Ancient Church Fathers) and 20th century history.

I am a sophomore at Brandeis University working towards a combined B.A./M.A. in mathematics and a B.S. in physics. I specialize in mathematics as it is my favorite subject to both learn about and to teach others. I have worked with students who I knew well and student that I did not know prior to tutoring them in the past two years in order to help them better understand subjects they struggled with from algebra to calculus. What I enjoy most about tutoring and what motivates to help other students is being able to emphasize the interesting aspects of the subject to counteract the common social stigma that math is boring and inapplicable to many, so that more people having a working understanding and appreciation for the subject. My teaching style is based around first explaining where the relevant topics come from as sufficiently as possible, how and why certain techniques work, and applying all of this to specific examples of varying difficulty. I emphasize gaining an understanding as to why skills and techniques work and how they are useful. This emphasis makes it easier for students to tackle novel problems and retain their knowledge.For physics I tutor in basic physics, the SAT subject test in physics, and AP Physics 1,2& C. For mathematics, I tutor in elementary mathematics, Algebra 1,2,3,4, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus 1,2,3 and AP Calculus AB/BC, Multivariable Calculus, SAT math and both SAT math subject tests. Of these subjects, my favorite to tutor are any of the calculus courses since that is my favorite area of mathematics and I find it rewarding to share that interest with others. In my spare time, I enjoy going on walks, socializing with my friends, and reading books.

I am a Masters in Teaching student at Brandeis University with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Business from Brandeis University. I prioritize access to a quality education. I work with parents and other caregivers to create the most well-rounded, successful learning plan for students, and work as a team with students and parents to develop learning goals.
