Your success is my success. This is what guides me as a tutor. To help you achieve successful outcomes, I take an approach that is flexible and personalized to your needs while also driven by data. I have previous tutoring experience helping medical students prepare for their medical licensing exams (for residency application). Students achieved a 100% pass rate on the exam and, on average, a ~40% score improvement.

I am a retired Chemistry Professor, teaching part-time at a local college. Teaching chemistry is the love of my life.I hope to first seek to understand what you need from a tutor and areas in which you need help.I believe everyone is capable of learning anything they want to learn at any level of proficiency. We will work together, determine your goals, and make a plan to get you there.Enthusiasm and patience are important from a teacher. Teachers need to build trust through honesty and student success. Your comfort will be key in developing your skill to have the confidence you need to tackle future academic challenges.I have helped many successful students during my 30+ year career and I would love a chance to teach you.
A good teacher can make an enormous impact on the life of a student. I have seen this firsthand throughout my life. As a student, I learned how to read and write critically because I had teachers who cared, and who invested themselves in my education. Because of these teachers, I have dedicated myself to the education of others. As a tutor, there is nothing more gratifying than having a student report back that a paper got an A, or that a much-feared test was actually a breeze. My goal as your tutor is to remove the fear and anxiety that may surround a subject, and to place there instead something positive--the love of a book, an appreciation for a well-written paragraph, and the confidence to attack any test or assignment with assurance.I hold my Master's Degree in English Curriculum and Instruction for grades 5-12, and I am well-versed in different teaching methods to ensure that a student who works with me has every chance of success. I think that students learn best when they are interested in a topic; my job as a tutor is to stimulate that interest in any way possible. I will motivate and inspire you to be the best student you can be!
My name is Theresa, and I am a junior at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. I am double majoring in Biology and Health: Science, Society, and Policy. I have been teaching since high school, and enjoy working with students. I like being able to help students overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. I have taken a multitude of math and science classes, from elementary school up through the college courses I have taken at my university. In my free time, I enjoy reading, dancing, and exploring cafes in Boston.
I am a total physics and math nerd. My passion is to show students they can understand any subject, no matter how complex or daunting, and get them nerding out just like me!
I am a passionate, practiced teacher who wishes to help students reach their full potential. Using empathy and listening, I assess student needs and create a custom learning plan for each client. I hold a doctorate from Brandeis University and have taught in both high school and collegiate settings.
Currently I am a MA/MS student at Brandeis University's Heller School of Social Policy. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX with a double major in International Studies and Spanish and a double minor in Geology and History. I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia from January 2012-2014 as a grade 5-9 English teacher in an underprivileged school. After school, I led twice weekly test prep sessions for 9th grade. These prep classes covered topics in English, Civics, Geometry, Algebra 1 and Geography. In addition to teaching and conducting test prep, I also individually tutored elementary students in reading and phonics, and led weekly adult literacy classes.I am a great tutor because I genuinely care about my students. Also, I have the patience, ingenuity and compassion to help the student improve in the subject they are struggling with. For example, the year prior to my arrival at the school, only 5% of the 9th grade passed on to 10th grade. However, the following year, thanks to our prep classes and the students dedication, 85% of the students passed. This dramatic improvement proves my ability to help students achieve in the classroom.

I have experience tutoring Middle School algebra and leading English classes for adults, which greatly fortified my communication skills and strategies for engaging students and dissecting complex topics. I grew up being tutored by a number of tutoring centers so I know what makes a good tutor and what doesn't! My tutoring approach is student-centered and adaptable: I am perceptive to learning styles and learners' level of understanding. I like to tailor lessons to the learner's needs and am willing to go the extra mile to explain complicated topics. My goal is to be approachable and build a genuine connection with students, while challenging them to develop their skills to tackle new problems. Whether a student needs help mastering core concepts, staying organized, or preparing for quizzes and tests, I work to make learning clear, approachable, and rewarding.
