I am passionate about helping students gain confidence and achieve their best. I have been a teacher for 10 years teaching grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th. I obtained my M.A. in psychology in 2007 and previously worked at a mental health therapist before transitioning to teaching in 2016.
In a world that capitalizes on the ignorance of many, my vision is to provide the captive mind with the tools necessary to cut through that ignorance and create access to the power of knowledge through education. I acquired my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Brandman University and then continued into my Master's degree in Applied Psychology from Walden University. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology concentrating in Forensic Psychology from the same institution. As a working father with two kids, who is working on his Ph.D., one of the hobbies I use to manage all of the stress is music. I have 20 years of experience in music performance with the saxophone and today I use it to unwind and enjoy myself with other musicians. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have accumulated a plethora of skill sets and I have enjoyed passing many of them on to others. The most significant of these skills are doctoral-level writing along with advanced statistics and data analysis. I consider my proudest accomplishments in tutoring to be the investments I put in my children. My youngest son began reading at four years of age and my oldest son is now reading ahead of his grade level.
As a dedicated college student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Brandman University, I have a passion for tutoring that stems from my own academic journey. With over two years of informal tutoring experience, I've consistently supported peers in subjects such as AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and high school math, fostering a collaborative and engaging learning environment. My teaching philosophy centers on understanding each student's unique challenges and encouraging a positive mindset, ensuring they feel comfortable asking questions. I strive to make learning enjoyable and relatable, using real-world examples to clarify complex concepts. My enthusiasm for biology and chemistry is matched by my creative writing skills, allowing me to assist students in developing their writing style. I am committed to helping my students achieve their academic goals while cultivating a love for learning.
