Truman College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, for about a year. My tutoring experience has been focused primarily on chemistry, from non-major/introductory chemistry to organic I & II and biochemistry, but I can also help with general biology and even basic math for science, up to college algebra. I am a Colorado State University student in Mechanical Engineering. I work as a Physics and Calculus tutor on Campus both privately and during office hours. I am also an Engineering Mentor for the Incoming students in Engineering each year. I have experience with courses from chemistry to mathematics and physics. I am in Pi Tau Sigma, the mechanical engineering honor society, and genuinely love the subject matter with which I work.I also have a minor in Business Admin as I had originally begun a business degree and then transferred to the college of engineering. After I graduated from high school I decided to study history education at Western Washington University in Bellingham. Two years later I realized my passion for physics and transferred to Colorado State University in Fort Collins to complete my Bachelor of Science degree in physics there. In the last year of my undergraduate study I started working as a physics tutor for the department. After graduating, I made the decision to take a personal year away from academia before I went to graduate school. During that year I moved to Chicago Illinois with my girlfriend and continued to tutor. I now am working on my masters in nuclear engineering and engineering physics at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.Aside from being a tutor I enjoy my time with friends playing board games and trying all the new restaurants that I now find myself in the vicinity of. I love ice hockey and all things outdoors; especially biking, hiking, and skiing. My passion is nuclear fusion so I take a very practical approach to tutoring math and sciences.

Originally from California, I spent much of my academic career there, earning my B.A. in Psychology at San Francisco State University and starting graduate studies in Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience focus) at Sacramento State University. Since moving to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2011, I have obtained an M.S. at Colorado State University with the focus of my studies and research being Cognitive Psychology. I have taught small labs and lecture courses at CSU for the past four years as a grad student, where the main skill objectives for the classes were: writing APA style, psychology concepts, designing and conducting research, and analyzing research using statistics. I have also had opportunities to teach high school students during a few different summer programs, teaching such topics as Sleep and Dreaming, and The Brain. I enjoy mentoring students as well and have had many discussions with undergraduate research assistants about preparing and applying for grad school, GREs, writing personal statements, etc. Outside of academia, I love to get outdoors, either hiking and climbing in the summer, or snowboarding in the winter.Thank you! I have a Master's of Science in Natural Resource Management and Environnental Interpretation from Colorado State University. An undergraduate in Communications (Speech, English and Theater) from West Chester University. I taught high school and began my own businesses after graduating college. I serve on non-profits and also teach through them. I traveled extensively, learning a great deal from teachers and elders of many cultures around the world. I always have had a burning desire to share what I have learned with others through coaching and teaching. This has allowed me to learn a great deal from my students as well. I have taught all age levels from pre-school to seniors and taught at both the high school and university levels. I pursued advanced degrees at Colorado State University, ran a large non-profit for the University and taught classes in many subjects in natural resources, creative writing, public speaking and organizational start ups and operations. I earned Masters of Science in Environmental Interpretation and Natural Resource Management from CSU and was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award for the University in experiential teaching. I was an advisor for approximately 50 students each year while with the University.I am also a life coach and have worked with people in that way as well.Twelve years ago I founded a non-profit with a group of people. Our goal was to teach about nature, sustainable living and the wisdom of past cultures. It was also a platform from which I could offer students help in creative writing, public speaking and personal growth courses. I am a public speaker at many conferences and in the classroom and I have had two books published. A couple of years ago I created the White Otter Academy to bring "Wisdom from the past magically stirred with knowledge from the present as a catalyst to transform your future."I coined the phrase "energetic alchemy" to define how I often teach. I began my college career in the U.S. Air Force Academy and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts (Chemistry, Adams State College, CO), Master of Science and PhD (agronomy, Colorado State University). I am the son of a military officer, and lived the nomadic life of almost all military “brats”. I first attended school, very briefly, in England. We returned to the US, relocated as ordered, and by the time I graduated from High School I had attended at least 8 different schools. So, from my earliest educational experience I learned to enjoy the challenges of continuously adapting to different schools, teachers, and social settings. That experience, and a natural inclination to science and language, allowed me to start helping other students from an early age. My first recollection of helping another student was while in 7th grade helping a 9th grader reason through an algebra problem. I did not know algebra, but I could help him see the problem in a different way that allowed him to understand and solve it. So, by that reckoning, I have been mentoring, tutoring, teaching or doing research for about 50 years now, and have never lost my sense that a main purpose of a tutor or mentor is to help the student see a problem or challenge in a way that makes sense to the student. My experience has been that once the student finds their own way of looking at problems and challenges, learning becomes the natural process it should be. The student begins to enjoy learning and discovery, and will pursue education as far and fast as nature and circumstances allow. I am a career scientist who has observed that verbal communication is one of the most important skills a scientist can have. I am comfortable tutoring various sciences, English, ESL, math and algebra at all educational levels. I enjoy travelling, fishing, and the outdoors, but actually just enjoy life.

I'm currently earning a BS in Biology as a transfer student from Colorado State University. I am also a nationally certified pharmacy technician. I have two younger sisters in middle school and high school that I've tutored for years, but I love tutoring all age groups. I have a wide variety of subjects that I tutor in, but my specialty is anything that has to do with the ACT. Helping other people learn has always interested me because of the incredible power of a good teacher. Being a language learner myself, I know learning a second language is very difficult. I love to encourage and inspire my students in their learning. My life has been so special because I have met so many people from around the world. People always ask me what was my favorite place to live, and I have to respond that I loved each city I lived in. Whether Hong Kong or Shanghai or Singapore or Chengdu or Beijing, they all were very enjoyable and enriched my life a lot.My bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development as well as my Masters with classes in TESOL, has given me a deep foundation for my life in Asia. I've taught in many different situations - kindergartens, community centers and the University classroom - and they all gave me opportunities to help teach and encourage my students in their English language development.I have just recently adopted a beautiful 8 year old girl and so she takes up most of my free time these days. As a former high school teacher, business professional, and current statistician I know and believe in the value of mathematics in today's society. I strive to help students accomplish their current tasks while reinforcing the fundamentals that will help them be independent learners in the future. I received my Bachelors of Science in Biology and Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University before attending Kansas City University for medical school in 2012. I will be graduating from medical school in May and begin my residency training in Emergency Medicine this summer. I have always had a passion for learning and teaching. I have extensive experience teaching elementary-school age children in math and reading as well as undergraduate, graduate, and medical students in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and microbiology. As I began to further my education at Colorado State University and take higher level math classes I really began to realize the importance of having a strong foundation. Many of my colleagues who were in the same class as me understood the concepts that were being taught but couldn't solve the problems because they didn't know how to do basic math. For some of them it was gaps in their algebra or misconceptions in geometry. For me, I found that I did better when I knew how to apply various problem solving methods and was able to critically think about concepts in a more general and abstract way. These tools however cannot be gained overnight but only over time with a lot of practice. I've also learned in college that it is better to go to office hours and ask a few questions rather than spending a few hours struggling through a problem. This is why I believe that individualized tutoring is so important. One is only going to learn something if they are able to organize it and make sense of it in their mind. Not everyone learns the same way and each individuals learning style is unique. I think it is beautiful how different each individual is and I want to meet the needs of the individual. My goal will be to give students the tools they need to succeed in whatever they put their mind and heart into later in life.

I have been tutoring for over 7 years and have gotten to see so many wonderful "aha" moments in my students! My education, career, and passion is around geology and the Earth sciences! I am fascinated by how the Earth works, and how other sciences such as biology, ecology, chemistry, hydrology and even planetary geology help us understand the planet we live on. I also have extensive knowledge of the extraction and distribution of natural resources, and how that affects populations, cultures, and politics. I have seen geology up close in 40+ states and 10+ countries. I am accomplished at technical and business writing, and public speaking.

In 2013 I graduated Colorado State University with a BA in German with a minor in English. I was fortunate enough to study abroad twice while at CSU; once in Freiburg Germany for six weeks, then for six months in Bamberg Germany. I recently received my Statement of Eligibility (SOE) from Colorado Department of Education to teach K-12 German, while in a program to earn my teacher licensure.I have always taught and tutored others; from my time in the Boy Scouts to captain of my hockey team I have helped a wide range of individuals learn. While abroad my German friend and I would meet twice a week on the bridge where we would talk about our cultures, I would ask him questions about the German language, and sometime he would give me a tours around town.After graduating college I spent three years in the white-collar, monotonous 8-5 work force while I contemplated what to do with my degree, until a few months ago when I decided to take a leap of faith and quit the routine to pursue my passion.
