Growing up, I spent a lot of time outside and had many questions about the world around me. I had great parents and teachers who nurtured my interests and gave me opportunities such as a walking trip through a swamp! As a result, I decided to study Biology in college. While in college, I noticed that many of my peers were struggling in math and science courses. I began tutoring through an initiative on my campus aimed at helping students in introductory math and science classes. Through this program, I tutored students in small groups (3-5 students) which increased student success rates in introductory STEM classes. In addition, I taught labs and tutored non-traditional students at a nearby technical college. By my junior year, I decided to add Secondary Education to my degree as I knew I wanted to continue sharing my passion for science with others. Since then, I have taught High School Biology, Middle School Science, and collegiate science labs (biology, botany, and anatomy).I love tutoring as it allows me to build relationships with my students and help them reach their academic goals. When teaching/tutoring, I apply the content to real-world situations so my students can relate to the material they are trying to learn. I also like to utilize manipulatives and games so students are engaged with the content and have fun.

I am a graduate of Columbus State University located in Columbus, GA. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Secondary Education Certified. Prior to graduation, I worked with children from grades 5th- 12th. Through my UTeach Program, I was able to student teach at Spencer High School where I taught 9th-12th graders in various math classes such as Geometry, Algebra 2, and AP Calculus. I have received CPR certification, planned project-based lesson plans, assist students with their projects and classwork, and held after-school tutorials for many students. I have a passion for teaching and tutoring mathematics. This perception is essential in leading students to a mastery of the subject.One must connect with the students personally. Even with the advent of online education, the interpersonal exchange between student and teacher cannot be discarded. The inability to see each other face-to-face will place a premium on instructional techniques.I want to take the best aspects of the traditional classroom and adapt them to an online environment. I got my bachelors in mathematics form Columbus State University and am currently getting my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Mercer University. I have been a private tutor for the past six years, and I worked as a tutor for my university for 4 and a half years. While I was there, I was part of starting a new program to help students that tested into prealgebra classes. After graduation, I worked as an assistant center director at a Mathnasium for about 8 months, until graduate school led to a time conflict. I tutor almost every type of high school or college math, from algebra to Calculus and differential equations, but I have worked with students as young as first grade, which allows me to help students when they are struggling with concepts that are needed in order to work on their current subject. I love tutoring all types of math. I think that everyone can learn math, and that the key is to get to know the students learning style and to explain concepts in the way that makes the most sense to them.
