I am a graduate of East Carolina University where I received a Bachelor in Science in Elementary Education and Wayne Community College where I received an Associate in Arts and Business Administration. I am currently working on ESL (teaching students of other languages) Praxis.Since graduation I worked as a 5th grade Science teacher and 3rd grade general education teacher. In my experience I worked with the whole classroom, small group and one-on -one with students and while I truly enjoy all of those formats, I have to admit that tutoring one on one is my passion and strength. I tutored students in Math in my student years in University in my native country. The greatest compliment I got was that "I make complicated things seem easy". I also tutored Spanish at Wayne Community College. My favorite subject to teach and tutor is Math but I also like to teach reading comprehension at the elementary level.I believe education is vital in life and is worth pursuing and investing in it. As Thomas Edison said, "success is ten percent inspiration and ninety percent perspiration".In my spare time I enjoy reading, nature, traveling, biking and playing tennis.

I received two Bachelor's degrees from East Carolina University: one in English and the other in Political Science. I received a certificate in Technical and Professional Communication. I also attended ECU for graduate school; I received a Master of Arts in English with a concentration in both creative and technical writing. When I wasn't writing poetry and nonfiction essays, I was concentrating on technical editing and grammar. While I graduate school, I had the opportunity to tutor student-athletes in English courses including literature and composition. I have taught and supported students in various English-related subjects to include but not limited to: composition, creative writing, business writing, technical writing, research and citing, oral presentations, social media, and graphic design, etc.My teaching experience has spanned across two-year community colleges and four-year HBCUs. I have taught in a higher education setting for nearly 10 years. From traditional students to veterans, I have experience teaching and supporting a vast array of students with a vast array of backgrounds. I feel strongly about teaching each student where they are respectively and individually. I am very keen on researching and citing, as I worked in university libraries for many years. I am guided by a learner-centered approach. I think it is important to meet students' needs and develop their interests and values. I believe that learning is an individual process of making sense of a student's experiences and beliefs. My approach to teaching is to organize my courses into a series of key topics and spend time preparing clear lectures on each, as well as fostering engagement through discussions. I tend to guide students to think as professionals, as opposed to beginners.

There are so many things to learn in the business world and so many opportunities, which is one of the many reasons why I love it! After getting my degree in Finance from East Carolina University, I spent a couple years working in Finance and later moved on to start my own real estate company.Business is more than just a subject matter to me, it became a part of my lifestyle! Everywhere I go I look at different businesses and try to understand what they do, how did they get there, why are they there and what would I do if I need to improve their business? One of the many reasons why I love teaching people about business is because it gives me an excuse to talk about it. More importantly, it also allows me to help people learn this world and show how you can be independent without taking on a lot of risk.I look forward to helping you in the world of business by using examples that you can relate with and showing you my "out of the box" approach towards simplifying the learning curve when you're starting in business.

Hi! My name is Aaron. I'm a born and raised North Carolinian. In the realm of sports I pull for NC State and ECU, my alma maters. I believe that Lexington Style BBQ is the best as I'm originally from that part of the Piedmont.I graduated with my BS in Mathematics from East Carolina University and taught for a time in the eastern part of the state. I worked in high school classrooms teaching subjects from Algebra I through Pre-Calc or Math I through Functions and Modeling in the NC Common Core curriculum.I am no stranger to tutoring! Outside of my teaching experience, I worked for several years at ECU as a lead tutor and mentor for the university's college algebra and developmental math classrooms. I've seen students from engineers to graphic design and theater majors struggle with classes, but I've struggled right along with them. I work hard to make it all "make sense". As such, I use a mixture of lecture technique as well as storytelling, kinesthetic/hands-on activities, and practical mnemonics that are useful in many different classrooms. With any skill, it takes time, effort, and focus. I've struggled with math just as much as I've struggled learning to play trumpet and French horn. It takes time, energy, and focus. I'm here to cheer you on, it's up to you how much you let me.

Twentieth-century author Flannery O'Connor left behind two novels, thirty-two short stories, numerous essays, and one frequently-quoted observation: "I write so that I know what I'm thinking." In a similarly self-reflective spirit, I have come to believe that I teach so that I know what I have learned, and how I have learned it. During my first semester as a graduate student, my concentration within the English major was creative writing. In my second semester, I migrated to technical writing. My exposure to both disciplines has given me a great appreciation for all phases of the writing process, from the beautiful chaos of creation to the process of imposing order on what you have created: proofreading, header style definition, and everything else that makes a document look as though it had been as easy to write as it is to read. I've heard many students state plainly that they did not know how to write. I believe the first duty of a composition instructor is to prove two things to students: that they do know how to write, and that writing can be a rewarding means of self-expression, as opposed to the exercise in drudgery that students so often think it is. What I have found, in teaching both English and math, is that assignments should not simply be explained and repeated until the students catch on. Rather, the instructor should look for engaging illustrations of the concepts that underlie those assignments, so that they are easier to understand and more enjoyable to complete.

I am passionate to help students of all types and situations, to be more successful in a challenging topic like chemistry to accomplish their aspirational goals. Too many students are not given a proper opportunity by not having an instructor who is interested in them and wants the best for them.I have a Bachelor's (BS) in Biochemistry, and a Masters' (M.S.) and Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Chemistry. I have been teaching and tutoring for almost 20 years as an undergraduate student, graduate student, and now a full-time chemistry instructor and have tutored and taught High School students, University-level students, Community College students, military, returning adult learners, you name it, I've probably have taught it.I most enjoy General, Organic, and Biochemistry topics. I teach in a "I do, We do, You do" philosophy where we work through a problem together and then you attempt it. Chemistry, as most math and science courses, is best learned by doing rather than watching and having a professor tell you instead of discussing it with you.

I am a graduate of East Carolina University, where I earned a B.S. in Mathematics with a Concentration in Statistics. At OSU I have taught undergraduate students through the leading of recitations, tutoring students in the statistics tutoring lab, as well as teaching a lecture section to over 200 students. In my many years of working with students in math and statistics, what I have learned is that everyone can be successful if they have the right teacher. Not everyone learns the same way, so it is important for a tutor to be able to explain the same concept in several different ways in order to find the method that works best for the student.I truly love helping others learn and grow. My favorite subjects are Statistics (of any level), Algebra I and II, Calculus I, Pre-Algebra, and Pre-Calculus, but I enjoy any opportunity to work with a student.
