I am an attorney living in Miami, FL. I am a 2013 graduate of George Washington University Law School. I am available to tutor on weeknights and Sunday afternoons.

What better way is there to apply knowledge than to explain to others? I enjoy giving abstract concepts substance by discussing them with others, among peers and students alike. The action is also enjoyable on a social level-- there is nothing quite like navigating new material with someone else. It's an opportunity for both of us to discover new ways to relate with what we are learning. It's these sentiments that have made studying Chemistry at Emory University a great experience so far. It's also why I like to tutor Algebra. The subject is all about relationships, and becomes so applicable in other natural sciences. Because of it's versatility, there's a multitude of ways to connect concepts. I like to relate new material with knowledge a student already possesses by outlining these connections. I've found this method to be very effective with my little sister, as well as students at Kumon Learning Centers.Outside of academia, I enjoy running, reading and swing dance. I'm involved with my campus American Sign Language club, as well as residence life.
As an academician I take great pleasure as well as an honor to help guide students to understanding various disciplines of the arts and sciences including language. Having had the opportunity to fill different roles of teaching I find it especially rewarding to motivate students prepare their journey to higher learning and a career path.
I recently graduated from Emory University, and I am going to medical school at Columbia University in the fall. I worked as a TA and tutor in college for biology and music courses, and I also have experience preparing students for standardized tests. My approach to tutoring is not to simply teach the material, but also to give my students the tools and strategies they need to teach themselves. Since everyone learns differently, I adjust my teaching style to match how each of my students learn, and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with new ways to explain concepts and problems.
I graduated from The George Washington University in 2015 with a BA in International Affairs. After graduating college, I moved to the Mississippi Delta to teach with Teach for America. Teach for America (TFA) is an AmeriCorps program that recruits, trains, and places top college graduates in high needs schools throughout the country. During my time with TFA, I taught a variety of science courses in my placement high school, including state tested biology. I am a certified biology and social studies teacher for grades 7-12. My time teaching has been both rewarding and challenging. One of my focuses as a lead science teacher was to work with students on college readiness. From ACT prep to rigorous lab based science instruction, we saw students grow five points on the ACT and increased the pass rate on the state exam. As my time with Teach for America comes to an end, I am excited to continue my commitment to education with Varsity Tutors. Currently I am working on a Master’s in Public Health at Emory University.
I am a rising sophomore at Emory University working towards a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology, as well as a minor in global health, culture, and society. I tutored in multiple subject areas in high school as a peer tutor as well as a tutor to younger students in elementary and middle school. I also tutored elementary school students in multiple subject areas during my first year at Emory. I tutor in many subjects, but have always been passionate specifically about tutoring in math. I have been tutored by peers many times throughout high school and college in different subjects, including the ACT. I found unique ways to solve problems and expand my problem solving skills through this, especially because I felt as though my peers were better able to relate to me, and therefore cater to my needs as a student. My approach is catered specifically to each student by first learning how he or she best learns, and then using tactics that will benefit them the most as they learn and grow as a student.
I am a recent MBA graduate and relocated to Atlanta from Los Angeles, CA. I have tutored middle and high school students on everything from essay writing to math and I am also a volunteer for the Junior Achievement program. I believe that learning should be fun. I know that each student is different and I adapt my tutoring style to the student's style of learning. I am a visual learner and find that drawing out a problem really helps students grasp a problem or concept. In the long run, I want to work in education reform. In my free time, I like to run, try new recipes (or restaurants), travel to places near and far and hang out with friends.
I am a rising senior at Emory University studying Quantitative Neuroscience with a minor in Spanish. I have been a tutor for Spanish, math, and chemistry since high school, where I was a coteacher for AP Spanish Literature and Culture during my junior year. My favorite subjects to tutor are Spanish and calculus--I love to show the visual side of math and the reasoning behind concepts in Spanish, such as the subjunctive. Too often, I think math is taught as theoretical concepts when it is also quite visual, and I've seen graphing approaches be very helpful for my students. Similarly, Spanish is sometimes taught via memorization, but there are many ways to simplify Spanish by learning how to think about it differently. I'm passionate about teaching students effective ways to learn and even appreciate these difficult subjects.
Hello! My name is Eric and I am here to help you/your child excel in biology, chemistry, and/or mathematics.Regarding my background, I was a private English and Mathematics tutor at Kumon for 4 years and specialized in creating tailored learning plans for over 100 children aged 3-18. It always fills me with joy when I see one of my students reach that "Aha!" moment and finally understand a difficult concept.Additionally, I was requested to be the Chemistry T. A. by my professor and have gained a grand amount of experience in preparing large lecture classes. I taught college level chemistry and have learned how to articulate difficult concepts in concise and easy-to-understand ways.I would love to get in touch with you to discuss a tailored learning plan for your child.GPA: 3.96/4.00Major: Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology
Hi I'm a current Emory undergrad and Economics major in the Athens area.I am focusing this Summer on providing quality SAT and Subject Test tutoring to select students who want an increase in their score.Using my methods over two years I was able to raise my score from a 1900 to a 2300 on the SAT (the equivalent of a 1560 on the new version).I provide both crash courses for those with only a few days or less, as well as more long-term study sessions.
Hi! I'm a graduate student at Emory University studying theology, with a passion for languages and teaching. While my tutoring experience has focused primarily on ESOL for adults and reading comprehension for children, I'm especially excited to tutor in French. I've studied French since college and completed coursework at Alliance Franaise in D.C. and CAVILAM in Vichy. I have used it professionally for research and conducting trainings in North and West Africa. I keep my French sharp by reading French novels, watching French films, and speaking with a language partner in France I also majored in German and lived in Germany for three years. In 2013-14, I completed a language fellowship studying Swahili in Zanzibar and Kenya. Currently, I substitute teach part-time while in school. I also walk dogs at a local shelter. Across all my teaching, I'm committed to student-centered methods. I enjoy taking complex material and making it engaging, accessible, and fun. I am excited to meet you!
I graduated from Emory University with degrees in chemistry and violin performance. I am currently working as a medical assistant in dermatology until I start medical school in the fall at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. I have always had a passion for helping others, and one way I could do so was by tutoring students so that they could achieve their full potential. During my time as an undergraduate, I was a part of the Emory Dream Project, a student-run organization that tutored at a local high school. I helped students with their algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus coursework. I particularly love tutoring math and physics because there are many different approaches to solving one problem. If one way does not make sense to the student, we can try another method that may click with them.
I graduated from Emory University in 2017 with a B.S. in Biology. I achieved a 4.0/4.0 GPA, graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors, and was ranked in the top 1% of my entire undergraduate class.Afterwards, I attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine and am set to receive my M.D. in May 2023. I was awarded the Outstanding Research Award by my medical school for placing in the top 10% of my class for scientific research productivity. I have been fortunate to win several national awards and publish over 30+ research publications (including 10+ first-authorships, PubMed Indexed). Recently, I matched into Diagnostic Radiology at my top choice, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and will be starting my residency in June! Over the past admissions cycle, I was fortunate to interview at nearly half of the programs ranked nationally in the Top 20.My initial mentorship journey began in college when I would regularly tutor my peers as a Teaching Assistant in Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry. After being accepted to medical school, I eventually fell in love with seeing my students not only succeed in the classroom but also achieve their own admissions dreams. I have guided numerous students over the years through AMCAS cycles (i.e., editing personal statements, primaries, secondaries, and interview prep) and have even served on the Admissions Committee at my medical school. I aspire to build upon these skills to further aid my clients in achieving their college, medical school, and residency match dreams.
I am a recent graduate of Emory University, where I studied Mathematics and Philosophy. I have over three years of experience tutoring middle-school to high-school students in math, science, and test prep. I think every student learns differently, and the most important job of a tutor is to tailor his or her style of teaching to each student's unique way of thinking.
I am a graduate of Emory University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and double majored in Educational Studies. In college, I tutored my peers in General Chemistry and Calculus. I also mentored students at underserved elementary and middle schools in the Atlanta community through an organization called Emory READS. In addition, I taught a Health course, which is mandatory for first-year students at Emory. I am passionate about the math and sciences as well as the field of education. I am currently working as a medical scribe at a family practice and aspire to become a doctor. In my experience, it can be a fun finding new ways to approach difficult concepts! In my free time, I enjoy dancing, practicing yoga, volunteering and reading!
I am a rising senior at Emory University majoring in Biology, B.S. on a pre-med track in the Biology Honors Program. In my sophomore year, I was a math and literacy tutor at Emory Reads where I worked with students at Ivy Prep Academy, Atlanta GA. Now, I lead review sessions for my fellow classmates in organic chemistry and biology to prepare for upcoming exams. In my past tutoring experiences and review sessions, I always used different colors and incorporated diagrams to improve conceptual understanding because I firmly believe every problem can be solved; if we have a solid foundation and truly understand a concept, we can apply it to any given scenario and figure out the solution. In order to make sure of this, I always encourage students to ask questions until all doubts have been cleared before moving on to decrease gaps in understanding. I can help with math, english, biology, chemistry, and physics although I think my favorite subjects to tutor would have to be Organic Chemistry and Human Physiology! I sincerely enjoy teaching these subjects and hope to show the students just how fascinating they can really be.
I've always loved helping people, even my friends when we were in the same classes. It brings me a lot of satisfaction when I help a student feel more confident in what they are learning. It is so rewarding when I am able to relieve the stigma of certain subjects, especially math, in order for a student to perform well. I hope my work with different students is able to promote the importance of education!
As an undergraduate I was a teacher's assistant, then spent a year between college and law school teaching English at a high school in France. I graduated from the University of Georgia Honors Program with dual degrees in History and and Economics, and a Minor in Classical Culture. I then attended Emory University School of Law where I graduated with honors.I spent almost four years at an Am Law 100 firm practicing general commercial litigation. I recently moved over to the City Solicitor's Office, Civil Right's Division to get some trial experience. I scored in the 92nd percentile on the LSAT and believe my test prep skills and practical experience would make me an excellent tutor for anyone looking for help with the LSAT and/or law school classes!Apart from being a lawyer, I love running, tennis, painting, IPAs/red wines, and have even dabbled in improv comedy (though I make no representations that you will actually find me funny).
I am a graduate of Emory University and received a Bachelor of Science in both Biology and Anthropology. My collegiate coursework focused heavily on the biological sciences, including evolutionary Biology, Microbiology, Ecology, Biological Anthropology and Math. I have been passionate about science since I was a child and have always enjoyed sharing that passion with others. As a long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America and with three younger brothers, mentoring and teaching has been a large part of my life and something I sincerely enjoy. It is my wish to not only help others gain factual knowledge, but to ignite an academic curiosity and the determination to constantly discover more about the world around us. Connecting with the student is of utmost importance. A mutual trust is necessary in order to not only help the student learn, but to help them become most confident in their great abilities. While not tutoring, I enjoy hiking and camping, and am currently planning to pursue a graduate degree in the field of development.

I am currently a junior studying Neuroscience and Economics at Emory University. As a high school student once myself, I realize that having the right tutor can make a world of difference in learning and performance.I have personally benefited from having a tutor and would like to help and inspire other students to the best of my ability as well.In the past, I have tutored friends and families in my most familiar subject, SAT prep. In addition, the past semester I worked with Emory Reads, a program that sends university students to local elementary schools to tutor the children mostly in math and science subjects.Other than SAT prep, I am skilled in SAT subject tests such as Math 2 and Chinese with Listening as well as ACT, and biology. In my spare time I like to exercise, practice Taekwondo, and just catch up on my school work.I look forward to meeting and working with you.
I am a tutor because of all of the great tutors that influenced me throughout my academic career. I was always a good student, but I believe that the tutors that have been in my life helped me to become an outstanding student and tutor. With their help, I was able to finish high school at the top of my class and go on to receive my Bachelor of Arts in English from Emory University. I am currently studying at Morehouse School of Medicine located in Atlanta, GA.My tutoring experience began in high school where I tutored students and my peers in all subjects ranging from phonics to calculus. Throughout college, I continued to tutor students from elementary school all the way up to those in college. After graduating college, I worked with a professional tutoring company for two years where I learned a variety of different tutoring techniques to apply to different learning styles. I have experience tutoring a variety of different subjects such as biology, chemistry, English (both language and literature), and multiple levels of math (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus). My ultimate goal as a tutor is to have students truly understand a concept and then to move ahead.I have embraced the idea that learning is a different experience for everyone. For some, it takes no time at all, while for others it is an extremely difficult task. All in all learning takes effort. With this idea in mind, my tutoring methods are extremely flexible to meet the need of every student that I come into contact with. At the end of the day, the student should feel a sense of understanding that they did not have before. I strongly believe that learning should be a fun experience so that what you learn sticks with you.Aside from being a tutor, I am a huge sports fanatic, especially football (both college and professional)—Go DAWGS & Go FALCONS! I also have a passion for cars. I am an amateur figure skater and love to read & shop during my free time. The thing that I value the most is my family. I believe in going after your dreams and doing all that you can to achieve your goals; and I truly believe that education is one of the most valuable tools you can have.

Hello! My name is Sai and I am a sophomore at Emory University studying Economics and Global Health. I am a native of Edison, New Jersey and a graduate of John P. Stevens High School. Going through the college application process is nothing if not stressful, but after a few years of analyzing my mistakes and observing others, there are many things that I wish I had known earlier. I am here to provide assistance to high school students looking to excel and meet their goals. It is difficult to meet the expectations of top colleges and universities, but with me in your corner, I hope that burden gets a little lighter.
I am a junior at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia double majoring in Political Science and Psychology. I have previous tutoring experience in ACT, reading, writing, math, and history.
Growing up, I was labeled by my family as "the future rich man." By narrowing my focus to myself, I was always able to achieve my goals more efficiently. This worked plenty for me, as I had just been accepted to the best high school in the state and had a high GPA. However, this turned out to be a less-than-stellar strategy when it came to fulfillment. Oftentimes, my obsessive focus on my work led to a social battery only matched by Wednesday Addams and an emptiness that I had struggled with for a long time. While achievements like Honor Roll were nice to have, they never brought any sense of purpose. However, in 11th grade, I got a life-changing opportunity: I would volunteer to help coach and take statistics for the local high school varsity girls' basketball team that my mom was coaching. Upon hearing about this opportunity, I was ecstatic since I could further fill my resume with an activity I had already enjoyed in previous years. My family had always been united by basketball: Whether it was my mom and family watching Lakers games or our traditional Thanksgiving three-on-three games, I had been studying the game for nearly my entire life. However, as time went on, volunteering became more than just an opportunity to engage with basketball. Once she began coaching, I often had the privilege of hearing her rant about the team. She would come home and immediately start pacing around the living room, trying her hardest to strategize while not losing her patience. However, these tangents also came with bits and pieces of their lives, worries, and future aspirations: many of them lived in low-income households, had issues with anxiety, and had dreams to be doctors or entrepreneurs. Every time I heard one of these stories, it not only made me feel a greater connection to them and their goals, but it made me think about what I should do to help them. Around December, I decided to set up some meetings for SAT/PSAT tutoring for the team, which would help both myselfwho needed to take it that yearand the team, who would be introduced to these topics for the first time. Throughout that meeting, the aroma of coffee and cinnamon rolls filled the local Panera, which would sometimes give us free coffee and bread. As we studied, a girl on the teamwho wanted to be an engineerasked for help on a problem with proportional triangles. I noticed the both confused and frustrated look on her faceEnglish was not her first language, so she was trying her hardest to take every word I said and translate it into her own language, while I drew diagrams of triangles on the page. This only made me more determined; I brought in every possible real-world example I had in my mind to help her understand. Finally, with a glow of satisfaction, she understood the problem and completed the next example with ease. However, this not only created a feeling of gratification for her, but also for myself, as this moment brought me fulfillment I had not felt before. Sitting in that Panera explaining Algebra 1 concepts, I realized exactly what I needed to fill the void. When I got home, I couldn't help but have a smile on my face, because I finally knew what I was doing wrong: the obsessive focus on my own achievements was withholding the sense of contentment that comes from helping others. I realized that the unfillable void could only be filled by helping others achieve instead of achieving more for myself. Whether it is tutoring while managing my school work or doing community service before performing for the school's concert band, I knew moving forward my life had to have a balance. Ultimately, being "the future rich man" will mean being truly fulfilled.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in biology. Currently, I am a law student at Emory University.I am excited to help students learn tactics and strategies that will allow them to succeed on the LSAT! While studying for the LSAT, I used these tactics and strategies to increase my score by 18 points and score in the 99th percentile of all LSAT takers.
Hi there! My name is Molly, and I am a graduating senior at Emory University, where I am a history major and environmental studies minor. In addition to having expertise in these two areas, I have lots of experience in helping students prepare for the SAT!
I am currently a graduate student at the Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences - New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. Although I am pursuing a medical career, I am a firm advocate of education. In terms of how my belief meshes with my interest in medicine, patient education should play a large part in patient care. Education leads a greater understanding of underlying health issues, causes, and risks which leads to a greater chance in patient compliance. However, before I even came to be where I am now, education has always been a priority for me. My parents are immigrants from a South Korea that was still developing. Thus, they work and struggle in the United States for the sake of their children's education though they themselves do not have more than a high school education - if even that. I was raised to pursue higher education, but once I graduated college and started working during my gap year, I truly came to realize the importance of education and appreciate the academic opportunities I have had thus far. Without education, without a solid foundation in the basics that are later built upon in college and university, there is no personal or societal progress.
Hi, I'm James.I am currently a student at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Although there are many other skilled tutors out there, I think what sets me apart is my hunger for success in my students. I want my clients to succeed more than anything, which is why I am so hands-on. My dedication to improving students is why there are so few that don't feel satisfied after my sessions. Notwithstanding, I'm highly qualified in middle and high school subjects. I have tutored middle-schoolers for 4 years now, and I feel that I work well with children. I can make what could be thought of as "more school" to a fun and engaging lesson. I have also tutored ACT/SAT for 3 years now. I scored a 35 on my ACT with perfect 36 scores in both reading and science. My clients typically see dramatic improvements in their performance because I am very flexible in how I tutor. I adapt to the needs of my client to make sure that I can get the best from them. Not only will I be persistent, I will also share my own methods to ace the client's exams. Picking me is a sound investment in your child's academic improvement.

I have 5 years of teaching experience in secondary education. I have taught 12th grade Human Anatomy and Physiology, 9th grade Honors Biology, 10th grade Advanced Biology, and as well as 7th grade Life Science. I also have years of experience with private tutoring in multiple subjects including elementary and middle school math. Being born and raised in Korea, I am also fluent in Korean and would love to help someone learn the beauty of Korean language.
I have been tutoring for over 6 years. I have tutored privately, with companies, and at universities. I have also tutored many different students across many different ages. I love teaching and tutoring. I make sure to adapt my tutoring approach to each student I work with, ensuring that each student gets the most out of the tutoring session. Your success is my number one priority.
Hi there! My name is Sophie and I've been tutoring for the past two years. I'm currently a junior of Emory University working towards a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Mathematics while also minoring in Women's & Sexuality Studies. I started working in my college's math center as a tutor for my fellow students in the spring semester of my freshmen year, and I then became a head tutor in my sophomore year. The position allowed me to work quick, one-time sessions, as well as, more intensive, consistent ones, and a mix. Outside of that, I weekly tutored an eighth-grade student in math in my sophomore year.Evidently, math subjects are my forte, but test prep and test taking are among my strong suits as well.I find tutoring to be incredibly rewarding and dynamic; both of which I consider myself lucky to experience in a work.
After volunteering on a medical team in Ghana in the summer of 2013, I now aspire to become a pediatrician for under-served populations. I graduated from Emory University with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and Visual Arts, but I rather than apply to medical school straight away, I opted to take a few gap years. Currently, I am a graduate student at Columbia University in the process of completing a Master of Science in Human Nutrition, and when I return to Rhode Island this fall, I plan to work in labs conducting clinical research projects. I am excited to tutor students in biology, critique essays for grammar and organization, and provide constructive feedback for any visual art or creative writing pieces.
I am a college graduate with a degree in chemistry. In pursuit of my degree I have become knowledgeable about a variety of subjects such as algebra, calculus, physics, and all things chemistry. In college I found out how I learned best and recognized that all people are different in how they learn and study.Recognizing that all people are different is important to my approach to tutoring because what works for some won't work for others. In addition to my experience working with other people in college, I worked as a supervisor at an overnight summer camp. In that time I had one on one instruction with hundreds of campers all from different backgrounds to teach a variety of skills.
Hello! I'm a second-year medical student in Georgia, and I've been fortunate to tutor students at many stages - elementary, middle, high school, college, SAT/ACT prep, MCAT prep, and even graduate levels. I've also mentored EMT-B students, where I taught hands-on clinical skills. Having been through the challenge of not always "getting it right away" myself, I really relate to the struggle of learning tough material. That's why my approach is all about breaking down complex topics into something simple and clear, while creating a space where students feel comfortable experimenting, asking questions, and figuring things out for themselves. I adapt to different learning styles and love finding the method that clicks best for each student. For me, tutoring isn't just about grades. It's about building confidence, curiosity, and the mindset that learning can be both challenging and fun. I'm excited to support students in reaching their goals and to share in the joy of their growth along the way!
I am a rising sophomore studying at Emory University. I'm pursuing a degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics and Computer Science. I have been tutoring students since my sophomore year in high school. I have a passion for problem solving, and I love working with students because they often allow me to observe problems from new perspectives. I view tutoring as a win-win relationship. Not only do I have the opportunity to enrich students' knowledge and intuition in a variety of concepts, but I also get the chance improve my own understanding of concepts by gaining perspective.
I graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor's degree in English and Creative Writing. While pursuing my graduate degree in English Education at Manhattanville College, I have been fortunate enough to spend a significant amount of time in various classrooms. I have led classes in substitute and student teacher capacities and have observed several experienced teachers as well. My undergraduate education has provided me with a lot of English-specific knowledge while also enabling me to work in other content areas including math and test prep. In my spare time I can usually be found rooting on the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks, organizing a pickup game, or heading to the movies.
