I received a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware this year. My research involved analyzing the evolutionary history, distribution, and functional significance of the sialic acid catabolism and biosynthesis gene clusters in the bacterium, Vibrio vulnificus. My dissertation work has given me a strong background in bacterial genetics, phylogenetics and bioinformatics, biochemistry and metabolomics.I have a passion for teaching and have experience tutoring introductory chemistry and biology courses, teaching undergraduates in a laboratory setting, and mentoring incoming graduate students. I have lectured sections at the undergraduate and graduate level of biology, focused on general biology and microbiology. I have also furthered my knowledge in pedagogy by taking courses in teaching the natural sciences through case-study based learning, as well as on the challenges of teaching the natural sciences in general. In the future, I hope to become a principal investigator at a research institution to continue to do excellent science involving bacterial metabolic evolution and mentor students.

Hello, I am a current High School AP Physics, Physics, Astronomy, STEM and Life Science Teacher on Long Island, NY. I have a passion for all things modern physics and an educational background in Mechanical Engineering with industry experience. I graduated from Farmingdale State College in 2015 with a B.S. in Applied Psychology. I also earned my Masters degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University.I started tutoring on my own approximately seven years ago. I have tutored over 600 hours and I received an abundance of positive feedback from my students and their parents.I specialize in SAT and ACT preparation for high school student. I am also interested in tutoring college students preparing for the GRE general test. For test preparation, I assign a decent amount of homework each week and I spend the majority of my sessions going over the questions my students answer incorrectly.While all of my "professional" and "academic" qualities are certainly important, I think it's also necessary for you to understand more about me as a person. I consider myself a "nerd" and I am no longer self-conscious about it - it's who I am. I love school, but aside from that I enjoy reading and writing. To me, the smell of a bookstore is like that of a decadent chocolate cake to many others. Although throughout the school year I typically only engage in academic writing, in my down-time I write poetry and I'm working on a young adult novel. I'm an athlete. When I was younger I did karate for about 6.5 years and got my black belt. Finally, during the winter I take pleasure in crocheting. I make hats, blankets, stuffed animals, and anything else I can come up with.

I am a graduate student attaining a degree in Public Administration. I have a Bachelors of Science in Security Systems, and my undergraduate studies include Computer Forensics and Networking and Criminal Justice Courses (Law, Procedures and Policies). I have also taken and tutored the LSAT exam.I have been know for my superior writing skills (I can write a 10 page paper in 2 hours). I am graduate of Farmingdale State College with a degree in Traditional Mathematics. I also served as a U.S. Marine for 6 years, where I spent much of my free time learning, memorizing, and studying new math concepts. I believe strongly that my time as a student didn't end when I left the classroom. I am constantly combing over my knowledge of all subjects of mathematics from the most basic to the most advanced in an effort to refine my knowledge and my teaching methods. I like to teach math the way I wish I was taught growing up; I always wanted to know "why?", and I wasn't always given an answer. Because of this, I've spent a lot of time really trying to fundamentally understand the subject so there are no questions we can't answer together. I've spent a lot of time connecting math concepts to real-life examples, and helping students make these connections too is very rewarding. While my professional expertise is in within the realm of math, I'm passionate about other subjects like history, languages, and politics. I've always felt that it was important to be well-rounded. This is why I joined the military, have a degree in math, have traveled the world, and continue to pursue my education in all subjects.
