I hold a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a Master of Science in Medical Physiology (MSMP) from Case Western Reserve University. My strong background in science, combined with years of tutoring experience, allows me to help students not only learn the material but truly understand it. I have worked with students from K12 through college in math, biology, chemistry, statistics, study skills, and test preparation, including Regents, ISEE, SAT/ACT, AP courses, and college-level coursework. I enjoy helping students who are struggling build confidence and strong foundations, while also challenging advanced students who want to excel and get ahead. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and personalized. I meet students where they are, identify gaps in understanding, and use clear explanations, examples, and problem-solving strategies to help them reach their goals. I look forward to helping your child build confidence, strengthen their skills, and achieve academic success.

I am passionate about helping students because I believe that it is incredibly important to learn how to take information from the classroom and apply it practically and critically to the world we all live in. By taking content learned in class and placing it in the context of real-life situations, all while collaboratively working with students, I believe students will not only be able to retain content better, but appreciate how such content informs the way we live, and how we can use that content to address and solve complex real-world issues.I studied at Florida International University, receiving two Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Religious Studies. I went on to receive a Masters of Science degree in Psychology, specializing in Mental Health Counseling. During and after my masters degree, I interned as a staff clinician, working to provide one-on-one mental health counseling services to children ages 6-18, as well as to college students attending FIU. After completing my internship, I made the decision to switch to pastoral counseling; Im currently in the process of completing a biblical counseling certificate, and currently serve as part of the pastoral care staff at my church. My experience working individually with students of various ages and helping them to understand complex concepts has honed many of the skills I take with me into tutoring. I currently tutor elementary, middle school, high school, and college students in various subjects, including reading in English, essay editing, psychology, religious studies, and geography.Apart from my academic pursuits, I love playing the piano and guitar, and singing; I particularly enjoy soul, R&B, and indie rock music. I also enjoy playing video games and addictively watching various TV shows.

Learning and education is a journey that should have no end, or at least I think so. Even though I have been to college and graduate school, I continue to seek the ability to learn something new everyday. I would love to instill this in each student I work with. Sure sometimes we need to "learn" something for a test or a research paper, but the process of learning and understanding how things work is one of the is one of the most satisfying experiences one can go through.

Hello! I have been a performer ever since I was very young. After working extremely hard, I entered the magnet theatre program at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School. There, my troupe worked to get multiple accolades and opportunities. Currently, I'm working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and minor in Anthropology/Sociology at Florida International University. Although I can tutor a broad range of subjects, I'm most passionate about tutoring/teaching Theatre. For me, I genuinely believe in focusing completely on the students' needs and making them feel comfortable. Only then will we be able to make progress with their growth in theatre. I want to be able to help children find the spark and passion for theatre, just like how I was as a child. I not only want to help them grow as a performer but as a person as well.

I love to help others do their best and achieve their goals and would love to do that for as many students as possible. I tutor: English, essay writing, government, high school government, math, middle school math, social studies, and writing. I have also held other jobs, but this is by far the most rewarding one Ive had and my favorite. Its always a pleasure to converse in my native language: French. I would have to say that I am most passionate about teaching Math, especially algebra and arithmetic, because there isnt much for my students to memorize. It mostly requires critical thinking and logic. Once the basic principles are understood, they can be applied to any number of novel scenarios, and with Math, practice virtually always leads to success.

I love teaching all sciences, because I think of beauty when it comes to those subjects. As the second of six siblings, my passion for tutoring grew naturally from helping my younger brothers and sisters with their homework. I offer tutoring in elementary-level English, Writing, and Math, with a special enthusiasm for English and Writing. I have always loved reading and writing fiction books and poetry, and I aim to share that same excitement for language with my students. I am a recent graduate of Florida International University, with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Prior to graduation, I explored the domain of tutoring for the very first time. The experience was quite enriching, and I found it mutually beneficial to both the students and myself. While I am open to tutoring a broad range of topics, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Math, and multi-disciplinary Engineering principles. My tutoring style varies from student to student as I find it optimal to meet the student where they are rather than force them to adapt to a particular style. One of my most successful tactic has been to use educational sites such as Blooket to gage students' performance in a competitive setting. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading various works of literature, watching anime, playing basketball/soccer, and occasionally lounging on a recliner during rainy days.

I've committed myself to to the path of teaching because I derive purpose from the ancient and essential process of passing on knowledge and skills to others. I find the moments that I can see measurable progress in my students' study of the subjects I'm teaching to be deeply satisfying. I draw inspiration as an instructor both from great teachers I've had the pleasure of studying under in person and those whose ideas I've grown from ages after their time alike. After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Anthropology at Florida International University I decided to move to China where I began my teaching career by teaching English at Chinese universities, colleges and language centers. I stayed in China for the majority of the time between 2010 and 2019, when I came back amid indications of a pandemic starting . I've been in the US since then I've taught English and Chinese on different platforms.During my time in China I also completed a master's degree in political science from at Renmin University of China. My master's thesis was on the impact on US-China relations of Americas grand strategy in the Indo-Pacific, in which I made several accurate projections of the emerging conditions of the international environment, among them increased militarization and regionalism in the context of the closing of the post Cold War conditions .It is for these reasons that aside from English and college applications essays I am positioned to teach beginner and intermediate level Chinese , and I can tutor students of international affairs and political science , especially those with an interest in Northeast Asia. Social sciences in general are perhaps my favorite subjects to teach because my academic interests are in social and political science as well. With regards to Chinese language teaching, I have had students with no experience before meeting me whatsoever and students that had been learning for up to two years before starting class with me. In planning classes with my students I first consult them/their parents on their goals and previous exposure to studying Chinese and proceed by asking them some basic questions or showing some simple sentences to measure their reading ability. I'm most suited to teaching students that have been studying Chinese for three years or less, but beyond this point any language student will be familiar with the need to regularly practice their speaking skills and am available for a more free flowing conversational style class for advanced students who may be interested. As for my English teaching , I can teach conversation, reading and debate to ESL learners or, for native speaking students and ESL students alike assist with analytical and college application essays. Additionally I'm very familiar with the IELTS/TOEFL exam structures for ESL students interested in studying in English speaking countries. My teaching methodology is student centered. I emphasize the need for students to participate in a language lesson so as to internalize concepts, language knowledge and fluency that I am always ready to explain patiently but encourage my students to actually implement during their valuable time. In China an issue I often had was students lacking confidence to speak and I've developed my tool set to get my students to surprise themselves and speak up more.Whether helping students to understand the conditions that led to current geopolitical situations they are just now being exposed to or teaching them how to bargain for better prices in Mandarin, I enjoy teaching and it is my hope that by coming to Varsity Tutors I can be a positive influence on more students' lives.

I attended Florida International University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and my Master of Arts in Linguistics. As a graduate teaching assistant, I tutored for all areas of linguistics and I taught Writing & Rhetoric as well. Since graduation, I taught English as a foreign language in Japan at five junior high schools over the course of few years. More recently, I have been taking the prerequisites, e.g. Chemistry, Physics, Statistics and Human Anatomy/Physiology, required to apply to Doctorate of Physical Therapy programs for the fall of 2016. I am well-acquainted with and adept in instruction for various subjects. However, my favorites subjects are math and writing/literature/languages, albeit the latter is not conventionally thought of as one subject. In essence, I love to solve puzzles; each aforementioned subject entails figuring out how the constituents interact with one another while abiding by specific rules and, sometimes, exceptions.Through divergent thinking and debate of dialogic points of view, students are pushed outside their comfort zone and are pushed to think for themselves. To teach is to learn and I encourage my students to teach themselves, teach each other and to teach me. My experience enables me to better understand different approaches to engage students and their diverse learning style via reprisal of ideas, verbal reflection and progression to meaningful conclusions. I believe clear communication of goals and expectations are integral to the tutor-student relationship. Working for a diverse group of students will allow me to become more proficient in imparting knowledge and skills for whichever subject comes our way.In my free time, I like to read pieces of writing by authors such Milan Kundera, Haruki Murakami, Wallace Stevens and Alan Moore, listen to music by artists such as Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, and Sakanaction, and be outside so I can run, swim and perpetually look like I am about to fall off a paddle board.

Perhaps the best word to describe my love for teaching and learning is PASSIONATE! Since I was seven years old, I knew I would become a teacher. After earning my Associates Degree at Broward College and then obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at (FIU) Florida International University, I was fortunate enough to receive a full scholarship from FIU to earn my Master's Degree in Urban Education. It was only a matter of time before I aimed in pursuit of the highest degree one can earn, hence receiving my Doctoral Degree in Advanced Classroom Instruction Professional Studies from Capella University. With exposure to all Elementary School subjects, I have taught a little of everything from 1st grade to 2nd grade to 3rd grade to 4th grade. I even worked as an Educational Specialist for my school district at the time in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It wasn't until I started teaching at the High School level that I realized my true calling: Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing. The joy on my students' faces when they listened to themselves reading orally on tape and then compared that recording to the one that I had previously recorded of them at the beginning of the school year is to date my favorite experience as an educator. At present, I left the classroom and now tutor full-time. I tutor all elementary subjects (Grades K-5), as well as grades K through 12th in Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing.My favorite thing to do outside of tutoring is to write. I am proud to say that I have five children's books written and published.I believe in working hard, always trying, doing your best, challenging yourself, and making the best of every situation, and I apply those beliefs in how I teach/tutor. It is my job to teach you. It is your job to let me teach you so you can learn. Let's do this together.
