I am originally from Barcelona, Spain so I really enjoy conversational Spanish and also Catalan if you are interested!Currently I am working in the field of Data Analysis, and I am located in the South Florida area.Other than tutoring, I like exercising a lot. I want to help foster a greater awareness to the need for better education in this country. Our youth are the background of our society and it is our responsibility to make sure they're able to handle everything that will be coming their way in the future.I am a graduate of Florida International University and studied there for 5 years before receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. I am currently working at a Physical Therapy clinic called Downtown SportFit Rehab & Training. I am also applying for the Doctorate of Physical Therapy at a few universities in Florida. My goal is to become a Physical Therapists who works with the sports community and those who suffer athletic injuries, to return them back to their original form and better.I have become a Tutor to help kids, who are having difficulties in their academic journeys, overcome those issues, and show them ways to cope with any problems they may encounter down the road. I have worked with family members and with a classroom at a local elementary school. During my undergraduate education, I was able to participate in a program to benefit children with disabilities and was given some exposure to helping those children. My favorite subjects to tutor are Reading and Math. I feel like these two subjects are the most important subjects for students to master for their futures. I would say that my method in tutoring these subjects is to first gauge what issues my students are having with the material, isolate and rectify the issue from the root, and try to provide examples of what to do when the issue happens again. In my spare time, I love to play video games and enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am also a sports fan; basketball and football are my favorites.

Education is a pursuit of knowledge proven through academic excellence. This definition does not capture the broader experience and formative effects on a persons physical ability, character, and mind.My start in tutoring was for student organizations in chemistry and mathematics as well as organizations I led, including Panther Linux User Group. It wasn't until I was recommended for the Learning Assistant Program in Florida International University to tutor Calculus, that I became responsible for a classroom of students for semester-long periods and tutored professionally.I have a competitive spirit proven from two years in intercollegiate competitive programming contests representing and sponsored by Florida University International, communication skills from years in teaching, student organizations and sales, and a can-do attitude.

Perhaps the best word to describe my love for teaching and learning is PASSIONATE! Since I was seven years old, I knew I would become a teacher. After earning my Associates Degree at Broward College and then obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at (FIU) Florida International University, I was fortunate enough to receive a full scholarship from FIU to earn my Master's Degree in Urban Education. It was only a matter of time before I aimed in pursuit of the highest degree one can earn, hence receiving my Doctoral Degree in Advanced Classroom Instruction Professional Studies from Capella University. With exposure to all Elementary School subjects, I have taught a little of everything from 1st grade to 2nd grade to 3rd grade to 4th grade. I even worked as an Educational Specialist for my school district at the time in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It wasn't until I started teaching at the High School level that I realized my true calling: Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing. The joy on my students' faces when they listened to themselves reading orally on tape and then compared that recording to the one that I had previously recorded of them at the beginning of the school year is to date my favorite experience as an educator. At present, I left the classroom and now tutor full-time. I tutor all elementary subjects (Grades K-5), as well as grades K through 12th in Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing.My favorite thing to do outside of tutoring is to write. I am proud to say that I have five children's books written and published.I believe in working hard, always trying, doing your best, challenging yourself, and making the best of every situation, and I apply those beliefs in how I teach/tutor. It is my job to teach you. It is your job to let me teach you so you can learn. Let's do this together.

I graduated from Florida International University in April 2021 earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Astronomy. Currently, I am working on publishing a scientific paper with my mentor, Dr. Jillian Bellovary, on my research for "Detecting Merging Black Holes in Dwarf Galaxies." In the future, I wish to obtain a Ph.D. in astrophysics, and become a professor. Before I entered the scientific community, I was heavily involved with electronic music production, sound engineering, and jazz voice. In fact, I studied these topics before I received my Bachelors degree at FIU, at Miami Dade College and earned an Associates in Arts for Music/Music Education. Music has since then become a very enriching hobby."Star Wars" is a very prominent influence in my life. Believe it or not, it's what gave me the courage to ever pursue a career in the sciences! This influence later allowed me to join a non-profit charity organization, costuming and performance group known as "Saber Guild," which is Lucasfilm recognized. This allows me to inspire young minds in a different way, and provide nostalgia for the inner child in every adult. In "Saber Guild," I am known as Darth Vek'tra, Dark Lord of the Sith!Growing up as a Hispanic female, encouragement for STEM by my grade school teachers was very low, and it's why I've become passionate about teaching young students about math and science. I want to encourage those that feel intimidated by such topics and give stars in the eyes of these young, bright minds, who are absolutely capable of doing what might seem impossible. I wish to inspire others to follow their dreams in the sciences, even when the world is telling them no, as the world told me. I believe anything is possible when you set your heart and mind towards a specific goal, and I am proof of this. Due to my education, I am now able to tutor subjects like math (including topics such as algebra, intermediate algebra, and middle school math), and science (including middle school science, physics and astronomy). Joining with Varsity Tutors is truly exciting, for it will allow me to help young students achieve in STEM!

History is my passion, and so is my career in education. I have a BA in History from Florida International University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude and received an award for academic achievement. During my time at FIU, I was employed as a preceptor by the History Department which provided me with the opportunity to teach students proper research and writing skills. I found that many students had been poorly equipped in high school to deal with the rigors of college-level work, and I made it a point to teach my students the skills they would need to be successful.History and writing go hand-in-hand, and I consider myself an excellent tutor for American and European history, effective essay writing skills, and proper research and study skills. My tutoring gives high school students the skills they will need to succeed in college and college students the skills they will need to graduate. I tutor using a technique-based approach, which can apply to a wide variety of subjects and is not limited to history or writing. As someone with a love for antiquity, I enjoy studying and teaching classical Japanese martial arts and have done so for fifteen years. Whenever possible, I attend living history events throughout the state of Florida. I also consider myself a bit of an automobile enthusiast and enjoy the feel of a well-made sports car.

I have a bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Florida International University. I have been tutoring a variety of mathematics subjects in college for over seven years now and I love my job. I have also struggled learning the material as much as my classmates. However, once I have a grasp on the concepts, I love helping them understand the material so we can all do well in the class. I knew that tutoring helped make a difference on students academic achievement and so that is the reason why I decided to become a math tutor. I know math can be a nerve wrecking subject but I will put maximum effort to help the students understand the subject. Many times private tutoring helps clarify most of the confusions about the material. I hope you will consider me as your tutor.

I retired from Miami-Dade Public Schools four years ago after eight years of teaching math at the High School and Middle School level. I miss the feeling of witnessing comprehension over coming a student struggling with a concept or problem as the student becomes aware that this thing can be understood and conquered. That is the greatest joy I experienced as a math teacher, probably the greatest thing I miss about teaching. I am looking forward to experiencing many more moments of assisting students to fight through the riddle of the problem to understand that this isn't so difficult after all. Before teaching, I had versatile career. After receiving a masters of finance and passing the CPA exam, my first job was with Laventhal & Horwath CPA as a tax and financial consultant, after which I left for portfolio management and investment banking before becoming a mathematics teacher.Outside of my professional life, I enjoy biking, canoeing, and hiking. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, my longest hike from Georgia to Maine, but I enjoy many weeks of hiking every year on The Florida Trail and interesting trails throughout this country enjoying all that nature has to offer. Hiking and teaching are my two loves aside from my wife, Lene.

I'm a bit of a vagabond and love to travel whenever possible. I was born and raised in Chicago, where I lived most of my life until about five years ago when I moved to Miami by myself to finish pursuing my education. Soon after, I began my teaching career! There, I taught English for over two years to both middle and high school students.Since I can't sit still, I decided to advance my career, so I moved to Phoenix in August of 2014 to help open a brand new charter school. As a founding teacher, I assisted in developing curriculum, mentored the other founding teachers, taught all core subjects to sixth graders, and taught Dance as a STEM elective course to both sixth and seventh graders. Speaking of which, I have always been a dancer and have loved teaching it as well. I'm very active and love the outdoors. Although at times I miss home (Chicago), not a whole lot beats the 300 days of sunshine we have in Arizona each year! I love to read all types of books- especially comics. Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite comic series, so you might see those two pop up in our lessons now and then. Because I'm bit of a nerd, I'm constantly striving to learn more and am hoping that together, we will grow as modern thinkers and doers, throughout the course.Oh, and by the way, thanks to three older brothers, I'm a sports junkie and have always been pretty athletic. I love to laugh and smile and enjoy seeing the same in others. I can't wait for us to get started- and I hope you're all as ecstatic as I am!

I am currently a university student completing prerequisites to apply to medical school -- psychology major/chemistry minor.I am passionate about learning, and I hope to promote that passion in others! My teaching style is very calm, and I'm very open to any sorts of questions on the material my students may have. I'm quite willing to repeat or re-word explanations as much as necessary for my students to grasp the concepts they're struggling with.I believe any student can demonstrate improvements with motivation and the right instructor; I adapt readily to the style most suited toward my students.I started tutoring while in high school, every Tuesday and Wednesday for two hours after classes had ended. I tutored Chemistry, along with Algebra 1 and 2. I tutored six Algebra 1 students considered most at-risk of failing the Algreba 1 EOC assessment. By the end of the school year, all six of my students passed the exam (and two of those students received the highest score).I have additional experience tutoring College Algebra. I tutored two of my peers; both of them had been averaging 70%'s on the exams, and once I started tutoring them, their exam grades started averaging 90%'s. I, myself, received an A in the course.I'm also experienced in working with elementary school children. I mentored two children -- one first grader and one second grader. Through my mentoring, I have experience working with children with ADHD, as the first grader I mentored was diagnosed with it. Through my mentoring, I helped develop social skills, organizational skills, and greater reading comprehension skills in the two students I worked with.

Ever since I was in middle school, I wanted to be a teacher. I was inspired by my science teacher, who always had a way to make us laugh while teaching science. I got my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from FIU. I have taught in private and public schools for 7 years. I won Rookie Teacher of the Year once. I have high recommendations from my previous principals from the different schools which I have worked in. I recently took a break from teaching in the public schools in order to spend more time with my kids, as they are heavily involved in sports and other school and church related activities. I also wanted time to pursue other personal goals in my life. Last school year, I started offering private tutoring at a public library. I love the flexibility from private tutoring. I have several students who I tutor during the week. I have experience tutoring kids of different ages. I myself have two children, one who is 8 and the other one who is 16 years old. I have taught grades K-6th. I love all subjects, but my favorites are reading, writing, and math.I have my own resources, but if your child already has his or her own materials, I can work with that, too. I'm very flexible in my strategies and always give feedback to the parents after the tutoring sessions. My ideal parent-tutor-student relationship would be to work with a student for a minimum of 3 months, so that I may enjoy seeing the student's growth. I never like leave a tutoring session without a feeling of accomplishment. I consider myself an excellent teacher.
