Graduating from Georgetown University and Flatiron School's Data Science boot camp has provided me with a robust education in STEM disciplines and foreign languages that I hope will be of help to you!At Georgetown, I earned a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Arabic and had the opportunity to study at the University of Seville, Spain. I have that experience to thank for my conversational and written fluency in Spanish. My interest in computer science was sparked in an introductory Python course, for which I served as a Teaching Assistant the following semester. I led "hands-on" lab sessions each week focused on solving more lengthy coding challenges and helping students with issues. Teaching in a college course made me comfortable with virtual tutoring since it was during the initial COVID lockdown.I have been living in New York City since graduation, where I completed my Data Science boot camp and started work as a Scientific Software Engineer in computational drug discovery. Specifically, I was on the Force Field Development team, working with seasoned researchers and computational chemists to overhaul and improve our parametrization models for simulating potential drug candidates. As a result of my time in NYC, I have become an advanced user of Python, a more confident programmer, and a persistent problem-solver. When I was young, I struggled with school. I was more focused on my performance on the sports field than I was on my performance in the classroom. My love of learning came only after I spent several summers being tutored by fantastic teachers who helped me develop connections to the material in a way that was both relatable and fun. This Fall, I will be starting a Masters program in Music History at the Hartt School of Music. Hi!My name is Casey and I am a current junior at Georgetown University studying physics and economics. The majority of my educational background is in math and science but I have a solid understanding of subjects across the board. I really enjoy working with people to break up challenging concepts into small and digestible pieces. I know the value in one-on-one help when trying to understanding a topic that one might find difficult, and would be happy to be there to answer any and all questions.I have had informal tutoring experience, as well as jobs as a ski instructor and camp counselor working with kids. Additionally, my on-campus job is in tech support, and since they did all their own training the only real criteria for hiring was the ability to explain complicated processes in simple terms. Unfortunately, we were all sent home from Georgetown due to Corona, this I have a lot of spare time this semester and would love to spend it helping students who might need a little extra attention!I am currently studying physics and economics at Georgetown University. Both subjects, especially physics, require a high-level math understanding. Most importantly, the require one to be very confident in all previous math learned for a strong foundation to build upon for new concepts.
