I'm an undergraduate student at Georgetown University who majors in Global Business. I was born in Russia, but I moved to New Jersey when I was 13 - it was quite a transition! I love knowledge, and I love learning; I hope to share my passion for education with my students.I am capable of tutoring a vast array of subjects. Above all, I will aim to teach you tips and tricks on how to study efficiently - techniques which can help you learn throughout your life, long after our tutoring sessions. I can help you prepare for your SAT test, or help you work out how to write that perfect final paper, or help you with any confusing math homework! I am also fluent in Russian and Spanish, and I have experience teaching both languages.I spend most of my free time painting funky portraits and reading. At any given point in time, I can also be found listening to music - everything from Sam Smith, to Argentinian rock, to obscure 90s rap, to hyperpop... You get the idea. I also love hanging out with my friends!Hope we can connect soon, and I can help you out on your learning journey!

I've been preparing students to take GMAT and GRE exams for over 4 years. I work best with students who are looking for intense preparation and can commit to at least 2 hours a day of work. I create a structured curriculum tailored to each individual student. I've always enjoyed coaching students to take tests, because I can help them realize how to find patterns, crack codes and see the whole structure behind the puzzle. Getting better at tests is like any other sport. You have to train better, become efficient, increase confidence and develop basic skills that sharpen your thinking.

I am a PhD student at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In 2025, I completed my Masters of Science student at Georgetown University studying Infectious Disease with a 4.0 GPA. In 2024, I graduated from Vanderbilt University with my bachelors degree as a triple major in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Political Science, and Communications of Science and Technology. While at Vanderbilt, I was a Teaching Assistant in both the Department of Biology where I taught Introduction to Biology, and the Department of Political Science where I worked with students studying Middle East Politics. In these roles, I directly engaged with students to enhance their comprehension of each subject, refine their written communication abilities, and bolster their note-taking and test-taking skills. I was also captain of Vanderbilt's Debate Team for two years and am extremely passionate about effective communication and respectful discourse. In this role, I taught college and elementary school students the art of argumentation and debate while emphasizing the significance of public speaking in contemporary society. While I am qualified to tutor a broad range of subjects and students, I am most passionate about tutoring mathematics and science. Through my experience as a high school tutor and college teaching assistant, I've directly observed the challenges students face in grasping these subjects, particularly at early education levels or among those with learning differences. Without sufficient practice and assistance, students can fall behind and lose their love of learning. I firmly believe that our natural curiosity and love of learning should be harnessed in the classroom, not dampened down. In pursuit of this, I encourage creative thinking and problem-solving and use various pedagogy techniques, such as active recall, to engage students in my classroom and tutoring sessions. I try to instill in all of my students that they are capable of great things and that learning is beautiful, because I truly believe that it is. I have been a tutor for over seven years, and have just reached my one-year anniversary with Varsity Tutors. I am excited to work with you and your child to unlock their fullest potential both inside and outside the classroom!

Hello, and thank you for visiting my profile! I'm a Georgetown University graduate with a degree in finance, and I've spent over 25 years in commercial banking applying mathematical concepts to real-world financial decision-making. My tutoring journey began over 15 years ago when I started teaching my own son math in middle school. I guided him through algebra, geometry, and advanced topics all the way through his SAT preparation. He went on to score well, earn admission to Georgetown University, and graduated just a couple of years ago. That experience showed me how much I enjoy teaching, and it was incredibly rewarding to see his confidence grow and his skills develop year after year. It also sparked my passion for helping other students build strong foundations in math and achieve their own academic goals. Since then, I've combined my professional experience in finance and banking with my love of teaching to help students succeed in subjects ranging from Algebra I and II to Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and SAT Math. My approach is structured but supportive: I start with a quick assessment, identify areas for growth, and then break complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. I use official SAT practice materials, error logs, and targeted strategies to improve both accuracy and timing. Whether a student is aiming to strengthen fundamentals or reach a top percentile score, my goal is to build both skills and confidence so they can perform at their very best. If you are looking for a tutor who combines deep expertise with a supportive, results-driven approach, I would be honored to work with you.

I began my tutoring career seven years ago while a Freshman at Georgetown University, where I majored in Spanish and Sociology. I initially tutored English (Grammar & Mechanics) assisted with drafting essays and lengthier papers for a variety of subjects, and helped my students to enhance their study skills.Tutoring soon became something I greatly enjoyed. I loved watching my students progress in their studies as they began to genuinely enjoy the learning process! Later in my career, I added Spanish as a subject that I tutored. I tutored students at the college level in Beginners and Intermediate Spanish.I was so happy to add Spanish to my repertoire of tutoring subjects because it is a personal favorite. Learning Spanish is fun and exciting! It has been an integral part of my life since when I first began learning it at the age of 14. However, I rapidly learned because I immersed myself in Spanish music, television, and culture. I also traveled to the Dominican Republic in the Fall of 2011 for a semester of study abroad.Since graduating with my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Georgetown University, I have continued to immerse myself in the Spanish language and use it as much as possible. Besides my interest in tutoring, I am also an avid singer. I have studied voice for about ten years now. I have sang at weddings and like to record professionally in my spare time.

Learning requires active involvement and attentively engaging with the material. This process can be at times frustrating and challenging, but ultimately a gratifying feeling. Opening a text book and feeling the increasing anxiety as you flip through unknown pages of what can only be viewed as a new language can repress the learning process. Nearly everyone at one point in their life feels overwhelmed and demurred about a specific subject. This feeling push someone away from learning something new and truly affect their ability to grow. I can understand this and have dealt with this in my own learning process. As an aspiring physician and an avid science lover, I am interested in not only medical science, but also ecology, evolution, biotechnology, and other related fields. I recall the difficulty of wrapping my head around specific concepts in chemistry, physics, and biology classes. My early struggles were amplified by my lackluster enthusiasm to understand why even this knowledge was relevant. Often times I would feel disconnected with what I was learning. This issue affected my foundational knowledge in sciences and it took me time to realize that without understanding the basics it becomes seemingly impossible to incur further knowledge. It is evident that many concepts are a continuum and by building upon previous knowledge can help consolidate new information. I find this as a paradigm in my learning philosophy; to thoroughly understand an essential point before moving on to the next subject. By retaining the foundational knowledge, it is much easier to apply and visit new, complex, information. Moreover, I believe learning is parceled into various tasks from listening, reading, writing, practicing and ultimately teaching to fully understand and retain new information. This is known as the ‘learning pyramid’ and can be very useful as a template.I constantly apply the ‘learning pyramid’ throughout my studies, beginning with attentive hearing at the basic level and reinforcing the subject material by reading and writing notes. After I felt confident with handling the material, group discussions can help reconsolidate the details and further solidify the major points. I truly believe that group work, used correctly, can help facilitate comprehension. This strategy was useful during my masters at Georgetown University, an accelerated one year program, which focused on physiology and biophysics aligning with the medical school curriculum. I was able to excel in the system-based modules by utilizing a steady academic focus alone and supplemented with group discussions between 3 to 4 students. During these group discussions, I realized the influence of teaching my fellow peers on improving my own interpretation. This marked the beginning of my interests in tutoring, specifically subjects that I am enthusiastic about. These include chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and other science based subjects. My fellow group members and I would teach each other the material, we would practice explaining out individual thought process. This method enabled an active learning process with an emphasis on the main point plus important details. As a tutor, I would emphasize the major points and push my student to ask questions, be attentive, and then be able to successfully teach me. The learning process can be difficult at times, as I explained earlier, can push a student away from an interesting and exciting subject. My focus would be to improve the student’s knowledge about the topic by discussing why it is important and highlighting potential benefits of understanding the material. By enticing a student and tapping into their enthusiasm can evolve into a new found educational motivation. The best experience I can wish for is a student to learn something new, but also to apply learning strategies to other subjects and became a better academic scholar.

I would be thrilled to bring that attitude to work with your student; I believe that good teaching means "working with" rather than "talking at," and that students thrive when they get a personal touch from a devoted tutee who can bring learning to life for them. The majority of my educational background is in math and science but I have a solid understanding of subjects across the board. I really enjoy working with people to break up challenging concepts into small and digestible pieces. I know the value in one-on-one help when trying to understanding a topic that one might find difficult, and would be happy to be there to answer any and all questions.I have had informal tutoring experience, as well as jobs as a ski instructor and camp counselor working with kids. Additionally, my on-campus job is in tech support, and since they did all their own training the only real criteria for hiring was the ability to explain complicated processes in simple terms. Unfortunately, we were all sent home from Georgetown due to Corona, this I have a lot of spare time this semester and would love to spend it helping students who might need a little extra attention!I am currently studying physics and economics at Georgetown University. Both subjects, especially physics, require a high-level math understanding. Most importantly, the require one to be very confident in all previous math learned for a strong foundation to build upon for new concepts. I have always been told by teachers that my submitted explanations for problems done in their class were neat and easy to follow. As a side note, due to my course of study, I have long been the first message sent when my friends need help with any math involved in their classes. Please feel free to reach out if you would like any more information or to see if I would be a good fit. I am excited to meet (or e-meet) any potential student and start to increase any area of their academic confidence that may feel like its a little behind!

I believe in the growth mindset, meaning that every student has the capacity to achieve and grow. I tell my students that I believe in them, and that with hard work and my support, they can achieve and even exceed their goals. When students believe this as well, they are more motivated to work hard because they believe that hard work begets results.I think it is critical to build a relationship with my students, so that I can identify the methods and strategies that will be most effective for them. I begin by getting to know my students on a personal level, learning about their passions, what motivates them, what frustrates them, and which learning strategies have been successful for them. I believe I need to earn their trust by being on time, prepared, and consistent in my work as a tutor. By building this personal relationship, I have the information I need to customize our tutoring experiences in a way that will be most effective for my students. My professional experience is varied; I run a business bringing creative problem-solving to education. I am currently teaching a college course, I was a 7th grade English teacher, and I have worked as a marketing executive and design thinking consultant, and own my own business. I bring my rich experiences to sessions, which helps me identify creative ways of delivering and explaining material.Perhaps most importantly, I truly love to learn. I believe that learning can and should be a joyful experience, and that when students enjoy learning - even productive struggle - they succeed. I bring relentless optimism, positive energy, and humor to my sessions.

I do not believe that anyone is "bad" at any subject, but rather that they struggle to find the intuition that others pick up on. My role as a tutor is to help form that intuition. My experience as a Cultural and Language Assistant in Spain, along with my roles in various educational settings, has equipped me to connect with diverse learners. Outside of academia, I enjoy traveling extensively, having visited over 20 countries, which enriches my tutoring sessions with real-world context. I am committed to empowering students with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed academically. Whether tackling challenging homework problems or preparing for standardized tests, I am here to guide and inspire students on their educational journey.

Hi, my name is Zach! I am a recent college graduate, having obtained a bachelor's degree with honors in International Politics from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. I am currently enrolled in graduate school, pursuing a master's degree in Global, International, and Comparative History (also from Georgetown). My education has afforded me exposure to a wide variety of advanced history, international relations, and government courses, ranging from Global History and U.S. as a World Power to Congressional Politics and Comparative Political Systems. I am also experienced in academic research, having produced a senior thesis examining electoral politics and military policy. For each of the course topics I plan on tutoring, I have an ample degree of experience myself. I have taken AP United States History, AP American Government and Politics, and AP World History, in addition to a number of civics and English classes. I am also an alumnus of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, providing me with a globalized academic perspective. I have acquired considerable mentorship/teaching credentials over the past several years. Having tutored elementary, middle, and high schoolers both online and in-person, the ability to instruct and engage with students is a muscle I have actively toned. I also work periodically as a substitute teacher for K-12 classes, dealing with students of all nearly all ages and educational backgrounds. As a veteran of speech and debate, I do my best to captivate the classroom and make learning an enjoyable experience. Helping to bring young people out of their shell and make them invested in course content is a goal I set for myself universally.

Teaching is absolutely inspiring. Nothing beats the "ah ha" moment a student gets when he or she realizes that they can achieve what they deemed "impossible." People are capable of much more than they think, and, often, it just takes a little encouragement for people to reach new potentials. I want my students to make connections and discover how much fun learning can be.As a tutor I strive to engage, challenge, and inspire growth in my students.

As a dedicated educator, I excel at finding and developing the potential of my students. I have been tutoring since I was a college student at Georgetown University in the 1990's. After graduation, I worked for four years on the trading floor of an Argentinian bank in New York City where I traded money markets and other instruments in three languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese, so I took a winding route back to the classroom, but I have now been teaching for more than 14 years in Texas.I am certified in English, ESL, Spanish, Composite Social Studies and dance. I have coached tennis and for the last 11 years have directed an award-winning ballet folklorico program. I also currently teach an AVID elective. AVID is a college prep class, so I have experience prepping students for college and in writing exceptional college and scholarship essays.I really enjoy teaching and look forward to working with you.
