I have completed all the Undergraduate with Biology and Chemistry major and Master’s degree in Chemistry from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Recently, I have completed second Master’s degree in Chemistry with research on organic chemistry from Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York. After completing my Master’s degree in Nepal, I taught chemistry about 7 years for high school and undergrad students. My first academic teaching experience began to support myself financially while studying Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in chemistry when I was in Nepal. Similarly, I taught general chemistry and organic chemistry to undergrad students at Long Island University where I was awarded a “Teaching Assistantship” for two years. Besides chemistry, I like to teach other sciences like basic biology, physics and even mathematics. My friendly nature and zeal towards helping my classmates and other tutoring activities through my academic career has slowly developed the “teacher” in me. Hence, I have chosen teaching as a profession because “Teaching” ranks amongst the nation’s top five prestigious professions where one is involved in shaping the future of an individual, a society and ultimately country.Understanding how students learn is one of the significant aspects of teaching. This is linked to their “knowledge” background and maturity. My main goal is to encourage independent thinking and analytical reasoning to augment students’ problem solving skills, thus encouraging them to not just memorize. I apt them to question at every stage: “Why? How?” and satisfy their curiosity, instead of assuming the instructor is always right. My favorite approach is: “If you don’t have any question, I have some for you”.

I personally believe that all students can learn something new everyday. You must seek and you shall find the information you are looking for sometimes the answers are right before our very own eyes and we just need to learn how to look for them. This I can show you. The "How"...

As a student who has struggled with many subjects herself, I understand what its like to struggle academically and what it takes to overcome those struggles. The greatest way I was able to overcome my struggles was by having a great teacher. Hence it became my personal mission to help other students the way I received help by imparting all the knowledge I obtained from my teachers on to other students.

I am a certified teacher with a master's degree in Education which I received from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. My specialization is in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), but I also teach elementary school subjects. I studied Elementary Education and Anthropology in my undergraduate studies. Since I have a love for travel and learning about other cultures, I have lived and worked in three foreign countries; I taught English to university students in Kyrgyzstan through the United States Peace Corps and high school students in Guadalajara, Mexico and studied German while working as an au pair in Germany. While working on my master's degree, I taught adult immigrants in Flushing, Queens who wanted to improve their English. After graduating with my master's degree, I taught academic ESOL, essay writing, and adult continuing education at a city college in Queens, NY. Following that, I taught ESL to predominantly Egyptian, Arabic speaking, students at a high school and elementary school in New Jersey. I enjoy working with students of all ages. Working one one one with students is especially rewarding. Throughout my teaching career, I have provided private lessons to students in standardized tests, reading, writing, study skills and math. I believe in student-centered, hands-on learning. I help all of my students with study skills and overcoming barriers to study such as vocabulary and skipped gradients. I have traveled throughout Europe and love to learn about other cultures and lands. I also enjoy interior design, cooking and traveling. I attended NYU for my undergraduate studies and I am currently finishing up my graduate studies at LIU Brooklyn. It is my belief that education is the key to improving our communities. As educators it is not our job to give our students the answer, rather it is our duty to teach them how to be critical and independent thinkers. Since starting my career as a teacher I have prided myself with creating a personal bond with my students. I like to build a relationship with my students and help them face fears about areas of anxiety. I have multiple ways of presenting content so that each student can discover which way works best for them. I am a licensed pharmacist in the US, but had the opportunity to teach clinical pharmacy overseas {Japan and Thailand} to undergraduate and graduate students as university faculty. I was also an associate director of the Department of Pharmacy at a 1000-bed private hospital in Japan for seven years, in charge of professional (pharmacists) and interprofessional (medical residents, nurses in medication use) learning. I also set up a residency program and provided bedside teaching. These valuable experiences helped me to grow in my career as a healthcare professional and teacher. I am also Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and Geriatric Pharmacy (BCGP). After I moved back to New York City in 2019, I have been practicing as a pharmacist in an independent pharmacy and working as a Chinese interpreter for the City government. A short explanation about my background and interest. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, in 2005 and received my Master's in Psychology, in 2011. Since then, I've performed several years of administrative and case management experience in the behavioral health department.
