I am currently a student at Middle Tennessee State University finishing my last semester on a degree in Industrial Mathematics with a minor in Physics.I've always been interested in math education, be it helping classmates grapple the material, or as a tutor for a nearby community college. I try to explain material in a way that illuminates what's actually happening and connect it with what is already understood. What's better than seeing someone figure out the answer is hearing "Oooh, that makes way more sense. That's why we ____."

I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University, as well as minors in Political Science and Philosophy. These programs helped shape my belief that the key to academic success is not in memorization, but in process development. My goal is to help students learn how to problem solve on test day rather than simply regurgitate information. When a student learns how to develop context around his or her knowledge, that student is better prepared for class, for research, for writing, and for exams. While many students panic at the prospect of taking standardized tests like the ACT or GRE, I have learned that my methods lead to more confident students, less stressful test days, and - most importantly - higher scores. I have experience tutoring political science, especially writing and research. I also tutor Psychology, English, Writing, and Middle School Math. I can help students write in MLA and APA format, as both will likely be used in college. Most importantly, I can help students gain confidence in their academic work. No one likes to study when they feel overwhelmed by the fear of failure, so I make morale a top concern. Once a student realizes he or she has the tools needed to succeed, school becomes fun again. After that, the rest is easy.

I enjoy working with all age groups in an effort to not only increase and success but to also foster a life-long love of learning! One of my favorite things is demonstrating to someone that they can learn most any subject simply by using the things that they already have around them, that they honestly know more about the subject than they realize.I have earned undergraduate degrees in Counseling and Finance from Middle Tennessee State University as well as two Masters degrees, an MBA and an MSA from University of Phoenix. I am also a DBA candidate with 35 hours remaining.

I graduated from MTSU with a B.A. in English and a minor in Religion. I tutored at the University Writing Center there, working with writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience. Typically, I saw a string of writers with little time to engage with them as individuals, so Im especially happy about having the opportunity to engage with students on a more substantive level. Im a creative writer who has worked on the staffs of multiple literary journals, and I always try to bring that creative perspective of language to my sessions, whether in my interactions with students or in my lesson plans. First, regardless of the subject, well look at the patterns present in the material, and then, well work our way into understanding the conceptual bases of the subjects at large. Tutoring should always be a collaborative effort that encompasses a way of learning beyond any particular subject. By the end of our sessions together, I hope that you will have learned how to teach yourself; fostering that sense of independence is my main goal.Even though I specialize in material geared toward the English language, the humanities, and the social sciences, I have a background in natural scienceecology and microbiologyand have done a fair amount of basic research in those areas. I am always happy to return to those roots with you! I work from multiple frameworks that adapt to not only each individual student, but also their progress and its ever-changing trajectories. Rather than relying on visual learning, which I myself tend to do, I try to connect the visual with the verbal in order to tune eyes and ears to the metaphors that are the basis of any subject. In my spare time, I write poetry, so I highly value fluidity and dynamism in all aspects of education. Because of my love for understanding the aural/verbal styles of learning, I tend to work well with multilingual students and others who are revisiting the process of learning and loving English! My academic background: After high school, I attended UT-Knoxville on a full-ride as a member of their Scholars Program. Overall, I was very successful with my college applications and can help you with all aspects of that process. Admittedly, I changed my major many, many times, but that journey has led me to my love of writing and a wealth of knowledge from diverse areas and subjects! My specialties include poetry and drama; definitely contact me if youre doing either!

I am a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, receiving my Bachelor's in Finance in 2021. Since graduation, I have worked as a Talent Consultant with clients ranging from non-profits to high growth tech start-ups. Recently, I have decided to make a career change and will be attending law school in the Fall of 2023. Now I want to help others do the same by helping them prepare for the LSAT. I have an equally strong understanding of all three sections and enjoy discussing the concepts with others. My prior experience includes tutoring various accounting subjects throughout undergrad. I believe in a patient approach to learning, taking the time to make sure students understand the fundamentals of a subject and build a strong foundation before moving on to more advanced topics.

I have wanted to be a teacher in some form since I was a child. I love watching my students grow and realize their potential. I have taught second grade, fourth grade, and eight grade science. I have observed all classroom levels kindergarten through sixth grade and even had student teaching in those grade levels. I have a degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Interdisciplinary Studies K-6. I tutor the core subjects (math, English/reading, science, social studies) up until eighth grade. I also tutor for Admissions, College Application Essays, and Writing. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, science, and writing. I think science and writing are a lot of fun, and I love that math has a definite answer. I believe in relationships first and want to build a strong relationship with my students before we get down to learning. I believe students learn best from people they like and people that are funny or personable. I like to laugh and bring humor to my teaching and help understand where students are at so I can bring them closer to their goal. When I'm not teaching, I am taking care of my family, enjoying a nice coffee, growing flowers and plants, and finding a new tv show to watch.
