I have taught math at 8 different colleges. I have taught every course in a math major as well as lower level courses such as pre-algebra. I have written math textbooks for junior high and high school. I have also taught math at a boarding school for high school students with ADD.

I tutor college physics and astronomy, and teach physics at a technical college. To me, tutoring is a relationship, forged with each student individually to meet them where they are and to find and lead them along their own best path toward mastery of the subject and independent learning. In my free time, I love reading and writing science fiction and fantasy.

I have been an English teacher for 25 years. I have also co-taught in social studies and science classrooms. I have a Master's in Education & Curriculum, a Master's in Educational Leadership, and a Master's in Literacy Education. I have worked as an Illinois state-certified high school reading specialist for the past several years. My daily classes involve working with struggling readers as well as preparing students for the reading portion of the PSAT/SAT/ACT tests. I also have extensive experience teaching students how to read text for information (non-fiction) and take effective notes on material.

I'm a graduating biology student from North Central College. My courses include general biology, genetics, environmental, cells, molecular biology, plant biology, and two levels of conservation biology. Outside of lecture, I've skills in the lab that are valuable to learning biologists. I've experience doing gel electrophoresis, bradford assays, dissections, proper lab notebook usage and more.I began playing the violin in 2007 during the fourth grade. I am currently working as a Licensed Professional Counselor and have a BA in Psychology and Spanish, as well as, a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.I have worked for several years as a tutor at the high school and college level, but it is really my clinical counseling work that drives my teaching approach now. Upon completing my bachelors degree, I intend to pursue a masters degree in French-English translation. I have a passion for languages and the crucial role they play in our world, and I am endlessly looking for more opportunities to learn. I am inspired to tutor because I value education as one of the greatest opportunities a person can be given, and I love seeing the ideas and ambitions of language students. My favorite subject to tutor is French, as the language is incredibly dear to my heart. The French language has so much history and rich culture, and it is easy to be inspired by its beauty. I first started tutoring in my first year at North Central College through a program called EDGE Structured Study. Later, I became a teacher's assistant for the physics department at the college and helped physics students with labs and homework. With these two jobs, I am able to assist many students at my college in math and physics. After a year of tutoring other students I began to notice that my knowledge on the topics had increased substantially and therefore my skills as a tutor increased even more. It is well known that the best way to know if you understand a topic is if you are able to explain it to others. Tutoring has allowed me to better understand my own topics and has given me the ability to teach them in several ways.Beyond tutoring, I also enjoy video games, Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Martial Arts, playing piano, and riding my bike around town and through trails. Having many interests is very helpful in college because it allows you to escape when you need to and come back to a problem or assignment with a more cleared mind.

Hi, my name is Hunter and I am a current graduate student at North Central College. In December of 2020, I graduated magna cum laude from the College of DuPage with my Associate of Arts degree in International Relations. I then transferred to North Central College where I would obtain my undergraduate and graduate degrees. In August of 2022, I left for a semester abroad in Athens, Greece. I I then returned home in December of 2022, graduating with my BA in International Relations. I am now working towards my MBA in international business at North Central College. During my time at the College of DuPage, I worked in the Writing, Reading, and Speech Assistance Center as a tutor. During high school, I tutored students from grades 9-12 in AP U.S. History and AP English. As a student myself, I find it very important to create a personal connection with my clients.
