I am a graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies. I have also attended a postsecondary institution, National University and majored in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum Development. Upon graduation, I was employed as a (K-12) substitute teacher. My responsibilities are as follows but not limited to: I formulated effective lesson plans in accordance to the Department of Education, students were instructed in all required subjects, and I also tutored students in math, reading, and writing. These students whom I was given the opportunity to teach and tutor resided in underprivileged communities. Under my tutelage, many of the students achieved academic success in the targeted areas and tests scores soared. Because of the approach that was used to educate the students, it became the anchor for their success. In addition to substituting, I also worked in the private sector and instructed students in a combination classroom that consisted of students in grades four through six; and also in grades three through five on two separate employment opportunities. Many of the students were empowered by their academic achievements which played a significant role in boosting their confidence. This was many of the wonderful moments that I had the opportunity to witness concerning their accomplishments. While I have tutored in other areas besides math, writing, and reading, my passion is for history. I believe that every student has the potential to be successful in any subject. However, the truth in the matter is that they look for genuine educators who care about them; and those who are willing to take that extra step to encourage them along their journey to success.

During my time as a graduate student in the English Department at Oregon State University, I have taught seven sections of first-year composition classes as a graduate teaching assistant. As an undergraduate, I tutored a seventh grade student with learning disabilities and worked one on one with her in all of her subjects every day after school. I also have experience as a teaching assistant for two English professorsduring both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. As as a tutor, teaching assistant, and composition instructor, I have learned that many students have a great deal of anxiety and fear about writing. I am dedicated, then, to meeting students where they are at in their writing. I have found that my strengths lie in listening to students, hearing what they struggle with, and then dedicating the time and patience to helping them improve their work. My goal as an instructor and tutor is to not only equip students with the skills they need to improve their writing and English but also to help them see that they do have something valuable to say and that they can make improvements. I have learned through my experiences that I am passionate about working with students because I greatly enjoy helping them gain confidence to become better writers, communicators, and learners.
Hi there! My name is Gabi and I'm a 23-year-old from Southern California. After tutoring college students at my college, and working as an English teacher in Spain for one year, I know that tutoring and teaching is one of my biggest passions! I tutor psychology, algebra, and Spanish. I am friendly, fun, and highly responsible. I hope to meet you soon!
I absolutely love watching my students get so excited about learning, especially if they have had a struggle with a concept and the "lightbulb" finally goes off! I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene College (now University) with my BA in Liberal Studies in 1986 and my MA in Teaching and Learning in 1987. I taught in the Hesperia Unified School District until I retired in 2022 after 36 years of teaching.
I am a graduate with a Bachelor's in Nutrition and a minor in Spanish from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego where I competed on the tennis team for four years. I tutored throughout college for peers, high school students, and middle school students. I also taught private tennis lessons for six years after high school. I am very passionate about teaching! I have just applied to dental school and am planning to start in fall of 2015.
I work full time as a nursing success coach and tutor at a state college and am passionate about guiding students on their best path for growth. Each nursing student has both areas of strength and areas that require more time and effort to master. My specialty is tutoring in dosage calculations and nursing math, yet I have skill in and enjoy tutoring in strategies for test taking, clinical judgment, studying, time management, and learning nursing content. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Master of Health Science from Saint Francis University. And I am a long-time RN who has worked in a wide variety of practice settings and specialties across the U.S. I also hold certifications in case management and coaching, which compliments my student-centered approach to tutoring. It is ultimately the student who decides which methods and strategies work best for them.
