I am a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College in Upstate NY. I received my Bachelor of Science in Social Work and later achieved a certification through Cambridge to Teach English as a Second Language (ESL). After graduation, I taught in the public school system for 3 years, focusing on special education, where I worked with children with special needs, integrating them into the traditional classroom setting in all subject areas. I then moved to Mexico City, Mexico, where I taught ESL in a private institute and then I worked with the Democratic learning method in a Homeschool setting. Upon returning to the USA, I began to teach ESL and tutor solely online, which I have been doing for approximately the last 5 years. I have had the privilege to work with students as young as a year and a half old up to 85 years old and from cultures all over the world. What I have experienced is that teaching truly is a never-ending learning experience, that is indescribably fulfilling to see a student reach their goals.
I have a Masters in education and computer science. I have been a teacher, trainer and tutor for over 30 years. I understand that everyone learns differently and at different speeds, so I work hard to make all of my lessons accessible for all students and their needs.
Hello, I'm Rick Denzien, a passionate songwriter, artist, and advocate for eco-sustainable living. My journey in music began near Buffalo, NY, where the harsh winters shaped my resilience and creativity. Here's a glimpse into who I am and what I bring to the table: Musical Journey and Achievements: Songwriting and Performance: I've penned songs that resonate with audiences, blending storytelling with a unique sonic landscape. My work has not only been appreciated on stage but has also crossed over into the digital realm, where I've recently been certified for over 35 million streams on platforms where my music and the music I've produced for others, recorded, mixed, mastered, written, or performed. This milestone reflects not just my commitment to my craft but also the trust and support of listeners worldwide. I am a current member of the producers wing and voting member of the Grammys. Production Mastery: Beyond writing and performing, I've delved into the art of production, ensuring that every note and nuance in my music aligns with my vision. My albums, like "RADIATE," and "Exit 21," are testaments to this, showcasing a blend of indie and major label collaborations, all while maintaining an environmentally conscious approach. All the music over more than a decade was recorded with certified wind power and for 8 years off our studio roof top solar array. Commitment to Sustainability: Zero Emission Musician: My dedication to environmental sustainability isn't just a part of my music; it's a lifestyle choice. I've toured exclusively with electric vehicles, reducing carbon emissions, and my home & studio runs on rooftop solar power. This commitment extends to how I live my life, from what I eat to how I travel, aiming to inspire others to consider their environmental impact. Mentorship and Education: Recognized for my environmental efforts, I hold mentorship certificates from leading climate organizations. Through these roles, I've had the privilege to guide and inspire the next generation towards sustainable practices, intertwining my music career with environmental activism. Philosophy and Teaching: Creative Philosophy: Music for me is not just an art form but a way to communicate, challenge, and change. I believe in pushing boundaries, both in sound and in thought, encouraging those I work with to find their voice and express it boldly. Educational Approach: When working with students, I focus on unlocking their potential, much like the advice given to new college students to engage fully, ask questions, and be open to new experiences. I bring this philosophy into my mentorship, fostering an environment where creativity meets curiosity. Why Choose Me: Proven Success: My achievements in the music industry, coupled with my streams, provide a tangible measure of the impact and reach of my work. Holistic Education: Learning from me means not only mastering music but also understanding how to live and create sustainably. I offer insights into the music industry from production to performance, all while embedding lessons on environmental stewardship. Specifically, I received my BA in Religion, Philosophy & Psychology. I also received a certificate in music business law in the area of Intellectual Property. Most recently, I received certification from Climate Reality as climate change mentor. DIY Education: I completed installing our 14-kw solar array with off grid capabilities and battery backup. I built 3 of my own studios and consulted & worked on 3 others. I have designed a special floor just for the recording environment. I have may years of experience in all sorts of installs that require electrical, plumbing basic carpentry, cement work, laying tiles, and built a compete bath and 5 star Airbnb guest space over covid. Workshops: I have held 3 workshops on building EV charge stations from open source parts from scratch. With in 3 hours attendees built, tested and charged an actual EV with the chargers they just built. So far we have built 20 charger which are all deployed and working. Engagement and Inspiration: I strive to be the mentor who not only teaches the craft but also inspires a lifestyle of creativity, responsibility, and innovation. My approach is to provoke, inspire, and challenge, ensuring that my students leave not just with skills but with a vision for their own unique path in music and life. Joining me means embarking on a journey where your talents are nurtured in a space that values both artistic expression and planetary health. Let's make music that moves, messages that matter, and memories that last.
I worked as a mathematics tutor while getting my Masters degree. I then was an adjunct lecturer at SUNY Brockport for a semester. I have been working for 3 years at an online tutoring facility called Brainfuse Real-time tutoring and 7 years as an Instaedu/Chegg tutor. I have experience teaching a variety of mathematics topics; from Pre-algebra to topology. Most of the time, I help students work on their homework or review tests. I can also help explain the language of textbooks, how to use them, answer other questions you may have in your class, and I can create lessons for you on any mathematics topics, if you tell me what they are in advance. I hope to have fun in my sessions with you.
Following my career as a professional scientist, I have spent the past five years teaching students in both classroom and tutoring situations. In my role as tutor, my students enjoy the benefit that I can answer the question, "When will I use this material in the real world?" with compelling and interesting examples from my life, ranging from telescopes in space to programming graphics for video games. When tutoring, I adapt the instruction and explanation to best match my students' learning styles, interests, and conceptual difficulties. I look forward to helping your daughter or son reach their educational goals and enjoy greater success in their future life.
I am a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College (now University) where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English-Education. I obtained my Masters Degree in Education from the University of Dayton, and obtained my certification in Autism from Marshall University, my certification in Mentally Impaired from West Virginia University, and also took graduate level education courses from the University of Phoenix. I worked in business for 34 years before I realized my dream of becoming an educator - first as a co-teacher utilizing my certification in special education, then as a regular educator. I believe all students can learn and that it is my responsibility to help them do this. I have 13 years classroom experience plus 2 years of subsitute teaching and have tutored students along the way even while I was working in business. In addition, I taught remedial high school English for 6 years as an adjunct professor at West Virginia Northern Community College. Further, I believe my experience in the business world makes me better able to prepare students for life beyond academia. I have tutored English and Language Arts for the most part but have also taught math, science, and social studies as the need arose. I prefer tutoring English especially helping students write better essays and research papers. My teaching philosophy is to do whatever it takes to help a student reach his/her full potential and can be very flexible in my methods. I have prepared students for standardized testing since 2005. When I taught full time, the majority of my students scored well above the state and national averages. I am very active in my church where I teach Sunday School, Bible Study for children, and sing in the choir. I am interested in animal welfare and support institutions for children such as St. Jude's Hospital and Shriner's Hospital. I walk regularly and enjoy reading and helping former students with essays and other writing projects. In fact, I am currently assisting an instructor at Troy University in grading papers and providing support and suggestions to the students in her freshman writing class and have done so since the fall of 2021.
