The relationship between our brains and senses has always intrigued me. Being a tri-lingual myself has pushed my interest in learning about language processes in the brain. During my undergraduate studies, I learned that those who cultivate multiple languages show greater activation in their left hemisphere, the seat of language production, than monolinguals. For this reason, I am particularly excited about passing my knowledge in French to students of all levels, helping them to discern the principles between their native and second languages. Personally, I studied in a French curriculum until the 9th grade before moving to the US. I also had the opportunity to study abroad where I studied French literature and Psychology. During that time, I was able to easily communicate with my host family and those that I met and even completed multiple assignments in the language. I hope that working with me will allow students to achieve the fluency that they strive for, thus increasing activity in their left hemisphere.

As a tutoring expert in Spanish, English, music, and test prep, my teaching journey spans the majority of my life. I worked as a junior golf camp instructor for eight summers during high school and college. During the summer before my junior year of college, I served as a peer mentor to high school students in the Skidmore Pre-College Program. In addition to my skills as a mentor, I was able to hone my tutoring skills by serving as a music and Spanish tutor throughout my studies. During my senior year, I wrote an 80-page thesis titled "Jazz Flamenco: How Political and Cultural Appropriation Created a New Musical Genre," which allowed me to meld my interests in Spanish, music, and writing. While my academic work and mentoring roles were fulfilling, my passion for language and education was truly able to shine through during my senior year, when I designed an independent study course titled "Teaching Methods for Undergraduate Spanish." For this course, I created and implemented lesson plans for an intermediate-level Spanish class. In collaboration with a Skidmore professor, I outlined lesson plans, received direct feedback, and put these plans to practice in the classroom.I have served as a volunteer Freshman Advisor at Harvard for incoming first-year students. I completed an online MicroMasters program through the University of Michigan called "Leading Educational Innovation and Improvement." I am currently pursuing a MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy at Northwestern University School of Education and Social Policy.
I am currently a junior at Skidmore College, studying political science. I have spent the last several months tutoring in my town to help students who are struggling with remote learning. My specialties are math, political science, and writing (I love editing papers!), but I can help in a variety of other subjects. I am a firm believer that education should be a positive experience so that students become lifelong learners. In my free time, I love doing martial arts and drawing!
I have been working with students for the past eight years. I love working one-on-one with students. My personal belief is that each student is unique and the way we all learn is unique. My goal is to find the best course of action to help your child with whatever academic difficulties they encounter, then address these problems to help your child succeed in the future. I have experience teaching English abroad in India during my time as a college student at Skidmore College as well as teaching elementary school children basic tools for reading and writing. My love of learning has translated well into a tutoring position and I cover a wide variety of subjects, such as American and European history, essay writing, grammar, standardized test prep, and AP test prep. I am a very active individual who enjoys cooking, jogging, hiking, and reading. I look forward to meeting you and your child and hope to lead him or her to academic success!
I recently graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor of Science. There, I studied theater and took classes in literature, history, religion, neuroscience, and more. I assistant taught in college and often helped my friends with essay writing and studying. Since graduating, I’ve tutored my younger sister for many of her high school classes. I now tutor a wide range of subjects, including literature, history, writing, Spanish, and Algebra. I am particularly passionate about preparations for standardized testing, including the SATs and AP exams, and helping students through the college application process. My hope is that the support I provide to struggling students will empower them to expand their academic curiosity and appreciate learning. In my free time, I enjoy reading, going to the theater, and baking, preferably something with cinnamon.
I am an undergraduate student at Skidmore College class of 2024. I am a double major in Sociology and Social Work. From an early age in my life, I have had a passion for teaching and always believed in the transformative power of education and knowledge. While I have experience tutoring a range of subjects I have always had a deep connection and interest in social sciences. In my experience tutoring, I have learned that meeting the needs of those seeking to learn and believing in their potential to grow is essential in fueling students and providing them with the tools for critical thinking and learning. I have learned that although I am an educator, I will always learn and grow from those around me.
I am a recent graduate of Skidmore College where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I also studied Spanish and Intergroup Relations. I am very passionate about the Spanish language and became fluent in Spanish after spending six months in Buenos Aires, Argentina and six weeks in Atenas, Costa Rica. I have informally tutored both native Spanish-speakers and native English-speakers in English and Spanish. I love to share my passion for Spanish and language with others and help students excel in their practice of the Spanish language. I have also helped students with college essays and grant proposals for funded summer internships.I understand how difficult learning a language can be and know from personal experience that it takes a lot of effort and dedication from both the student and the teacher. As a tutor, I commit to putting in the effort to prepare fun, engaging activities and lessons that make it easier to dedicate one's self to language acquisition. Additionally, I will meet the student where he/she is in his/her learning and tailor lesson plans and tutoring sessions to the personal interests, needs and goals of the student.I strongly believe that we are all each other's teachers in understanding humanity, and I look forward to learning about different perspectives and experiences from students. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, yoga, natural healing, meeting new people, and trying new things!
I am a Boston native and am happy to be back in the city after 4 years in Upstate NY for college and 1 year working in New York City. I am working full time as a Project Manager at a translation company in the Boston, and am really enjoying it so far! I graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, in May 2015 with a BA in International Affairs and a BA with Honors in German, and a minor in Government. I worked as a tutor for all levels of German and for introductory levels of Government throughout my time at Skidmore, and I'm continuing to tutor outside of college because it's something that I love to do! I'm fascinated with the German language and culture, and I love being able to help others learn it with me. I started my fascination in the 7th grade (about 11 years ago!), and have been lucky enough to spend time in Germany to continue my studies- for three weeks in high school, and for 6 months in college. I also know German can be very frustrating to learn. I don't think I actually started enjoying my studies until college, when everything just seemed to click. As a tutor, my goal is to help students get to this moment, and beyond. My love for the German language has also fueled my interest in the English language and in writing. I enjoy helping students organize their thoughts and ideas, streamlining them into a concise and thoughtful statement. It???s a skill to write coherently and powerfully, and it???s something that does not come naturally to many people, so this is something I enjoy practicing with my students. Besides my passion for German and writing, I have always loved to swim and have swam competitively from fifth grade through my four years at college. I also love the outdoors and will take any opportunity to be in the sun or go hiking. If the weather isn't the best, which is often the case in the Northeast, I enjoy sewing, knitting, and other 'do-it-yourself' crafts.
Art history has always been my passion, but I also strongly believe in the importance of a diverse, liberal arts education, which I received at my undergrad institution, Skidmore College. At Skidmore I earned my bachelor's degree in art history, where I also studied Classics, anthropology, psychology, history, English, and government, and spent one glorious semester studying abroad in Paris. At Skidmore I gained tutoring experience working as a peer-mentor, art history tutor, note-taker, and providing SAT prep and general homework help, as well as teaching English while studying in Paris. After Skidmore I moved to London where I earned my Master of Arts in art history at the Courtauld Institute of Art. Currently I am pursuing a doctoral degree at Boston University, with a focus on Renaissance art. Primarily I tutor subjects in the humanities, particularly history, English and, naturally, art history, but I also enjoy working with elementary and middle school students in all subjects. I love tutoring art history and introducing students to a discipline that they may not be as familiar with, and also have a passion for American and European history. For me, making a real connection with a student is a crucial part of tutoring. I am incredibly personable, relaxed, and patient and am able to set students at ease. In addition to a having a passion for travel, I love to read, enjoy scrapbooking, rock-climbing, and baking.
I graduated from Skidmore College with a Neuroscience BA. I received my teaching degree in Biological Sciences as well as Students with Learning Disabilities. My most current degree is Masters in Teacher Leadership from Rider University.I have a variety of tutoring experience from Special Education to 7th grade science to High School Science to ACT prep as well as Study Skills. I tutor ACT prep, physical sciences, biological sciences, forensics and environmental science. I love teaching biology, but every science has an interesting aspect to it. I do believe everyone can enjoy science as long as you find what works from them also science puns are a must. Some of my interests are travel, cooking and spending as much time on the beach as possible.
I am so excited to become a part of your educational journey! My bachelor's degree is in Environmental Science from Skidmore College and my master's degree is in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge about these subjects to interested students. I would describe my teaching style as very interactive. I want our work together to be a dialogue, not a monologue. Feel free to ask me questions during our sessions because I love questions!
I graduated from Skidmore College in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in History/Theater and a minor in Creative Writing. Growing up in Westchester County, New York I began tutoring elementary and middle school students at my local JCC in a multitude of subjects. Starting my junior year of college, I worked in the History Department as tutor, with a strong emphasis on helping students in American and European History. I am most passionate about tutoring students in History and English, including AP courses. I feel that I bring a creative and unique approach to my tutoring, and I actively work to help my students find a personal connection to a subject or topic they have previously struggled with. Every student has the capacity for improvement. In my spare time I like to read, write, watch movies, hike and play tennis.
