I am currently a freshman at Stony Brook University studying Electrical Engineering and Physics. I began tutoring privately in my junior year of high school and continued in my senior year, while also joining a tutoring center called Best-Score Learning that promoted group-tutoring. I find joy in tutoring subjects such as Mathematics and Physics, as I am able help students go through the problems and see the bigger picture. Being a Math and Physics geek myself, I feel content when a student is able to see through the obstacles that come up when solving a math or physics problem, and appreciate the beauty of the subjects. Tutoring, in my opinion, is a collaborative process between student and tutor that aims to not only relay information but also helps in building free-flowing and independent learning skills in the student. In my eight years or so of tutoring, I have seen that even a tutor can grow with the student in the process. This is because relaying information is, of course, a two way street and in that process the student learns the information that he/she wants to and the tutor finds out how best to incorporate information into the tutoring sessions.As a tutor I try to be aware, first and foremost, that different students have different learning styles and needs. I've been a university professor for the past five years and have been tutoring for as long as I can remember. I began tutoring informally while I was still in high school, helping friends get ready for their SATs, helping them with assignments. I love helping students gain confidence in their skills in English and realize they can experience success!I have expertise in writing fundamentals, writing essays, research and thesis papers, college application essays, college prep essays (Freshman Comp), grammar, literature, literary analysis, NYS test prep.My outside interests include spending time with my family, traveling, outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, and when I have the time, I write on my blog.I would welcome the opportunity to help you achieve success in English!

I am currently a senior studying Math Education at Stony Brook University. I am certified to teach all levels of secondary mathematics in New York State. I also hold a certification in Special Education. I have previously worked ample hours with students in middle and high schools whose abilities greatly varied.I know that most students do not enjoy mathematics, so it is my goal, as a tutor, to make the subject as fun and relatable to those of all ages. I strive to ensure that my students do not simply memorize the information that is presented to them, but also understand the concepts so that they are able to apply them to other ideas in the classroom.I have always enjoyed doing math for as long as I can remember. I hope to inspire some students by showing them that math can be highly rewarding.

After working as a high school English teacher in New York for ten years, I came to Austin to pursue a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at UT.Working with students on an individual basis is a wonderful opportunity for me to craft a personalized approach to subject matter and techniques. I especially enjoy working with students on their writing, whether personal essays or application statements that they have time to edit and revise, or on-demand writing tasks that appear on tests like the SAT or the AP Exam.

What makes me a great tutor is patience. If someone if coming to me to learn, I can explain the concepts to them as long as needed without getting frustrated. I want my students to learn! I teach virtually all high school subjects and below and am even open to teaching college curriculum courses if they fit my expertise.
