Since starting school at ASU, I have worked as a teaching assistant for Microbiology labs for over two years now. I absolutely love teaching and tutoring students in biological sciences! My name's Breno. I am currently a Ph.D. student at Harvard University in the department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology.I began tutoring during my undergraduate years at Suffolk University. Through this position, I advised students and coworkers as both a tutor and tutor mentor. I have greatly cherished my time as a tutor because it not only contributed to my growth as a scholar but allowed me to give back to the community by helping my peers succeed. My tutoring philosophy revolves around the students, not the assignments they bring. I believe that a tutor's job is to ensure students improve their own capabilities and are better able to work independently and successfully by helping them understand the problem rather than simply providing a solution. I am very excited to help anyone who wishes to better understand chemistry!
I am a graduate of Suffolk University, located in Boston, MA. I received both of my bachelor and master degree at Suffolk University, majoring in Accounting. I've tutored students during my time as a graduate student, and have tutored elementary and high school students during my junior and senior year of high school. While I have basic high school level on a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about tutoring all math subjects, excluding (pre) calculus and college-level statistics, and accounting-related courses. I believe that education is an important ideal to be able to have an enriched life that one wants to have. In my spare time, I enjoy pilates, strength training, hiking, and reading a good book.
I'm a recent graduate of Suffolk University with a BS in Physics and a minor in Philosophy. Looking to go to grad school in January or next September and have taken the GRE (preping to take the specialized Physics GRE in October). Math has always been somewhat intuitive for me, but once I got to college I knew I needed additional help. I know how much an outside perspective can help solve a frustrating problem and understand how important patience is in learning concepts that are somewhat difficult to grasp.Love being active, biking around Boston, and tackling some of math's harder monsters.

Additionally, I have acquired many real-world organizational skills whilst pursuing my undergrad degree in business management & marketing, and an MBA program in the future, which will help me provide a pragmatic approach to learning & educating towards students. I graduated from Suffolk University summa cum laude with honors and a presidential scholarship. I attained a BA in Philosophy and English. I am currently a widely published writer and a graduate student at the number one low-residency MFA program in the country, Vermont College of Fine Arts. The MFA itself is a rigorous program that focuses on intense reading and writing. The MFA degree is the terminal degree for the fine arts field. I am also a Professor of Literature at Changing Lives Through Literature, an alternative probation program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I am also a copyeditor for The Tishman Review and a manuscript reader for Hunger Mountain. Throughout my poetry career, I have worked closely with several nationally recognized poets, most notably the National Book Award recipient David Ferry. I was awarded the 2014 Robert K. I truly believe that enriching and engaging the mind is protecting our Earth's best natural resource- and it all starts with education. I am a Math and English tutor. Why English? I love to read and am a stickler for grammar. I have a vast vocabulary because of my love for reading and can always think of different ways to say the same thing in essays, papers, etc. Why Math? I like it, I'm good at it and I've noticed that a lot of kids hate it because they aren't good at it or the opposite-they aren't good at it because they hate it. I am here to try to bridge the disconnect between students and their Math skill set and get them to see that they can overcome that obstacle. I love learning from the students I tutor. I love seeing them grow and outgrow me.
I believe that everyone is far more capable of learning than they believe, and that we all have unique styles of learning because we all come from different backgrounds with distinct experiences and values. With that, my goal is to learn as much about my students as possible and tailor curricula to each student's preferred style of learning. My goal is not only for my students to understand the subject in which they seek instruction, but understand themselves a little more and to have the tools necessary to adapt themselves to learn in new environments. I have experience tutoring and teaching both children and adults. I volunteered as a tutor with a charter school in South Boston before attending law school. As a trial attorney, I also assist with the lawyer training program in which I teach new lawyers trial advocacy and pre-trial litigation skills. From both experiences, I understand the need be goal driven yet flexible so that each student can be successful.
