I believe that all students can and want to learn. This is often admittedly unclear for many students throughout their academic careers. All it takes is one bad day, one bad teacher, or one confusing topic to make a student feel hopeless and that a certain subject is a lost cause.Tutoring is a great way to change a student's attitude towards a particular subject. I have always prided myself on getting to know the students in my class beyond their lives in the classroom in order to determine how they can learn to the best of their abilities. The one-on-one setting of tutoring offers an even better environment to develop a trusting relationship to take some frustration out of students' lives and give them more confidence in the classroom and in life in the process.

The gift of learning is a powerful experience that every person is capable of. As a passionate educator beginning to create my foundation in teaching, I believe that we all have the ability to meet and achieve the goals that we create for ourselves. It is a pleasure for me to guide students as they learn through their academic journey, while also preparing them for success. As a recent graduate from the State University of New York at the College of Oneonta, I have earned my Bachelor's of Science in Adolescent English Education. Although I am new to the education field, I have had a wide range of experience learning and growing alongside of students through field experience and observations, student teaching in a middle school and high school, and as an Individual Aide and Self-Directed Support Professional through Eastern Suffolk BOCES and East End Disability Associates, Inc. These opportunities have helped me to better understand myself as an educator and how I can be of service to students.I am devoted to learning more about the students that I work with. Getting to know students as individuals gives me the ability to modify my approaches for the best possible academic experience. My main beliefs as an educator, professional, tutor, and individual are respect, equality, and compassion. I look forward to growing and learning alongside of you!
My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take chances. My primary goal is to provide an environment that supports motivation. My role as the teacher will be to assist each student in developing their own potential and learning styles. I will incorporate hands-on learning, cooperative learning, projects, themes, and individual work that engage and activate students learning. Children have something special that they can bring to their own education. I will assist my students to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others. I believe that teachers learn from experienced teachers, and practice can only come from receiving feedback and presenting a curriculum that will incorporate each different learning style. I continue to seek out advisors for myself and I also look for opportunities to help my colleagues become better teachers.
Avid public speaker and advocate for financial literacy. I am a full-time financial advisor that uses my free time to help others gain the knowledge necessary to learn more about business and finance or make their own way in the financial services industry. I am also a life-long learner well-versed in a variety of subjects surrounding American History, Global Mythologies, US Government, Economics, Environmental Science, English, Study Skills and German.
I have a Master's degree in Education and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I consider myself a "book worm" and enjoy diving into the fictional worlds of classic and modern literature. I strongly believe that education is the foundation to all pursuits and that we are all, regardless of our level of education, lifelong learners.

I am a NYS Certified Teaching Assistant with a passion for helping students to be successful academically as well as socially.
