I finished my college education in 2001 by earning my Ph.D. in economics from Texas Tech University. I have been a college-level economics teacher beginning in 1992 and have been teaching economics students since then. Over the years, I have learned much more about the economics discipline itself, how economists do economics. Throughout my career, I have treated all my students as adults, respecting their ideas and opinions, having learned as much from them as they have learned from me. Believing all learning is initiated from a point of knowledge, I want to know where students are in their programs, what are their strengths and weaknesses especially. I help them leverage their strengths in addressing their weaknesses. This in the end makes for a more confident student, someone who not only believes they can accomplish that which they face on their own, but one who will overcome their challenges and will accomplish their goals. This approach is what I have taken over my lifetime in regards my own learning needs and as lifetime learner. I attest this approach to life has been enjoyably fruitful.

I am High energy, love working with the youth. I have a great experience with teaching and mentoring others, throughout my college and professional career I have given back to the community. Through various different organizations (i.e. National Society of Black Engineers, Boy Scouts of America, various mentoring programs).

Education has always been the key that unlocks potential, and I am passionate about helping students discover what they are capable of achieving. I am currently completing my associate degree in Computer and Information Sciences at Odessa College and continuing on to Texas Tech University to pursue my bachelor's in Computer Science with plans for a master's degree as well. I have several years of experience working with students of different ages and backgrounds, both as a volunteer tutor for high school students in my community and as a part-time tutor at Odessa College's STEM Lab. I have supported students in mastering subjects ranging from algebra, geometry, and calculus to programming fundamentals, C language, and introductory web development. Among the subjects I tutor, I am especially passionate about computer science and math. I love showing students how coding and mathematics connect to the world around them, whether it's through building simple apps, solving real-world problems, or understanding the logic that powers everyday technology. My tutoring style is encouraging, adaptable, and interactive. I believe every student learns differently, so I focus on breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and using relatable examples to make learning engaging. My goal is not only to help students succeed on assignments and exams but also to help them build confidence and curiosity that last far beyond the classroom. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy painting, experimenting with new recipes, and exploring nature on horseback. I am also passionate about entrepreneurship and technology innovationI dream of starting a software company that makes technology more accessible to small businesses and communities. I am dedicated to helping each student achieve success and find enjoyment in learning, no matter their starting point or challenges they face along the way.
Since I was young, I found I had an affinity towards mathematics. It is one of the subject that I can understand without difficulty and feel great about! I enjoy learning and teaching new, challenging math concepts, and many of my peers have approached me for help over the years. In June 2010, shortly after graduating of Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, Texas, I choose to join the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering at Texas Tech University wishing to pursue my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.Mechanical Engineering was my career of choice because I have a strong need to be challenged and overcome myself. Engineering challenged me alright; it proved to be quite rough but rewarding nevertheless. My curiosity on how the world around us works drove me. This engineering path also gave me the opportunity to participate in my first internship. Last June through August 2014, I had the opportunity to work as a Facilities Mechanical Intern for CH2M Hill; there, I discovered that I am great working with others and can naturally assume a role of leadership.Throughout my education, I have gained great value in the teaching process. I believe a good instructor must show passion, patience, and possess the ability to make topics contagious to his/her students. I would sum up my teaching philosophy with one of my favorite Albert Einstein quotes: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."Although I have lived over nine years in "The Lone Star State," I am originally from Panama City, Panama. While living in these different countries, I have gained a great appreciation for all the different cultures of our people. I am bilingual and am currently working on my third language: Mandarin Chinese. You could say "people" are one of my hobbies. I also enjoy soccer, playing my guitar and appreciating nature.Let us learn, grow and achieve, together.
I have completed a BS in Retail Management and a BA in Languages and Cultures. Additionally, I have completed an MA in Archaeology of the Classical Mediterranean at the University of Sheffield in the UK. My passion is in Roman Archaeology and have dug at Roman sites in England and Italy. During my BA I also found a passion in Latin. It gave me a challenge I was looking for and I love to beat it. My mission as a tutor is to help students to fully comprehend, memorize, and be as successful in Latin as they possibly can. I am extremely patient and will do whatever it takes to help you become better at the language.
I'm here to inspire mathematicians, scientists, and engineers alike to achieve their goals through excellence in academics. I am a Technical Project Manager at Travelers Insurance, where I bridge technology and business operations, drawing on my Mechanical Engineering background and MBA. With over 10 years of professional experience spanning automotive, aerospace/defense, engineering consulting, and insurance industries, I bring real-world context to mathematical concepts. I've been teaching and tutoring for over 12+ years, starting as a teaching assistant at my alma mater, currently teaching as an adjunct professor, and tutoring through Varsity Tutors. My expertise centers on Calculus 1, 2, and 3, but I've successfully tutored students across all mathematics subjects, from foundational algebra through advanced engineering mathematics. My engineering degree and analytical work give me unique insight into how these concepts apply in professional practice. I look forward to working with you to achieve academic success and build confidence in your mathematical abilities.
Hi! My name is Jennifer and I have been teaching people math for almost 20 years! I have a way of making it not seem so bad. I am very good at explaining difficult concepts so that even the least mathy of us can usually understand.
My mission as a teacher is to help students see their greatest potential even when they feel a particular subject is way too challenging. Helping them see there really isn't anything in the world of education that they cannot achieve. Needing a tutor doesn't mean you aren't smart or you're incompetent, it just means that particular subject isn't fun for you anymore and I am here to change that for you. Learning should be challenging but also fun. I look forward to meeting you all soon to bring the fun back in your learning experience.
I help people accomplish public speaking by teaching it as disruptive storytelling. I work with middle school, high school, college students, and emerging professionals to enhance presentation skills, career readiness, and confident communication. I am passionate about helping students reach their highest potential. I have a strong background in the psychological and other social sciences, english literature, academic writing, and history. I strongly believe every student can excel with the right guidance and a helping hand! When I'm not tutoring, you'll find me playing with my dog, Nellie or listening to live music. Let's work together to reach your academic goals!

I am a student at the Texas Tech University working toward a degree in chemical engineering. After graduating from college, I plan to pursue a masters in the field of petroleum engineering. I have experience with tutoring since I was in high school; I founded a tutoring program at the Lee and Beulah Moor Home and I spent some time volunteering at this location. While I plan to tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about calculus and I particularly enjoy teaching others the basics of mathematics. I also have a lot of personal experience studying for standardized tests and I believe I have knowledge of strategies that would be helpful for any high school student preparing for the SAT/ACT. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, playing tennis, and hiking.
I am passionate about project-based learning and hands-on, student-centered education. My goal as a tutor is to help students determine and develop their personal strengths and interests. Learning should feel like an adventure, not a chore. I graduated From Texas Tech with an English degree and a minor in secondary education. I have taught Language Arts and Reading classes as a public school teacher for the past two years. Reading is my favorite subject to teach because I love helping others find stories that bring them joy. I also tutor writing and English for middle and high school, as well as study skills and organization.
I love math and the only reason I do is because I had great math teachers through middle school and high school. I want to give other students similar experiences to what I had.
I am an experienced educator with nearly 20 years of experience helping students prepare for college and achieve their academic goals. I specialize in guiding students through the college application process, with a strong focus on crafting authentic and compelling application essays. I truly enjoy the mentoring and coaching aspects of my work and that is the driving reason for providing tutoring to students. I have an excellent and well rounded mix of professional experience and educational foundation which allows me to bring context and examples to topics in order to help students fully understand the concepts being learned.I initially received an undergraduate degree in Information Systems from Texas Tech University and went to work for ExxonMobil as an applications developer and project manager. During my time with ExxonMobil, I had the opportunity to work in multiple business segments and began leading international projects which led me to working on projects in Africa (Chad and Cameroon). I then received a graduate degree from The University of Texas McCombs School of Business, and transitioned to a career in finance and manufacturing with Textron Inc. I served in multiple leadership roles within Textron's various business units which included banking and lending, leading a global manufacturing finance division, and serving as a Corporate Controller and Logistics Director. For the past five years, I have started a few different businesses with the primary entity being Black Hat Consulting Inc which provides strategic consulting services for marketing, finance, real estate clients.I have been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 2010.
I have voluntarily taken a leave of absence from my current position to spend some time with my family and friends in my hometown, Austin. I graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with minors in bioengineering, chemistry and math. I find enjoyment in the mentor/mentee relationship and I would love to be a part of your tutoring experience.
My name is Gayla Aycock and I enjoy teaching young children. I enjoy helping students read and learn how to write stories. I have taught all different levels of children up to 4th grade and I will try to help them better themselves.
Let me start by thanking you for dropping by my page and taking the time to get to know a little about me. To begin with, I have excelled in academics from a young age. My competitive nature had me checking in at the scores table in everything I could handle. Whether it was UIL acting, science, maps/graphs/charts, spelling, science, or creative writing, I loved to learn and compete. While in middle-school, I was honored by Duke University for scoring in the top percentile of Duke's TIP program which allows middle school students to take either the SAT or ACT after receiving instruction and prep. These interests continued on into high-school where I eventually graduated as 21 out of 550+ students. However, academics were not my only strong point. I was awarded track athlete of the year as well as both "Mix 96 Player of the Year" and "Linebacker of the year" for football. I was the President of the first ever student formed Fellowship of Christian Athletes on my campus, a member of student council, the national honor society, and took part in several sports and youth groups. On the weekends, I enjoyed competing all over Texas with a traveling basketball team I was a part of. Fortunately, this early commitment to excellence helped me secure a spot with the Texas Tech Football team. In addition, I received a merit scholarship from Texas Tech based on my SAT scores and had my whole first year of college paid for by local scholarships I was awarded. After four years, I received my BA from Texas Tech and continued straight into my legal education. In may of 2014, I was awarded my JD from Texas Tech School of Law. I currently clerk for a law firm and tutor students. My teaching philosophy is that superior performance is something that can be achieved by each and every student with proper mentoring. I sculpt out every lesson based on the student's individual learning style and needs. One of the most important aspects of my tutoring consists of practice, practice, practice. Whether it is in athletics or academics, we will not achieve excellence unless we practice and prepare for excellence. I leave you with an open invitation to ask me any questions pertaining to my services and a quote I live by. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit." -Aristotle

When it comes to tutoring, my ultimate goal is to help students realize and achieve their full academic potential by helping them to get the grades they deserve. During any tutoring session, I ensure that students have a complete understanding of the underlying fundamental concepts to ensure they have a strong foundation from which we can build together. I actively work to identify areas of weakness and then patiently and sympathetically provide support to help students master these areas of weakness. In addition to all of this, I always try to incorporate how these concepts relate to the real world to help students realize the importance of the material they are learning.

Hi, I'm a lecturer at Richland College. I have an MFA in Creative Writing and Pedagogy at Texas State University with a BA in English and Psychology at Texas Tech with over 9 years of teaching experience. Fortunately, after many years of diligent writing, editing, and persistence, my poetry book was published by an American publisher.I'm a constructivist style teacher, adjusting to the needs of my students. I understand that each student has their own unique personalities so it's important to have a teaching structure but be willing to adjust to the personal learning style of each student.I had to have a tutor in math when I was in middle school so I know what it's like for students. With tutoring experience and a caring attitude, I can provide a good teacher to student connection for a better learning environment with patience, care, and genuine care for the student's learning process. My main strength as a tutor is my ability to assess a students' learning style and adjust my teaching style to suit their needs. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring is witnessing my students' growth, helping them build their skills, confidence, and knowing that I played a role in their success. Also, I enjoy and appreciate students for their own unique perception.I look forward to meeting and studying with you.
I help students learn by peeling back the fundamentals of those subjects and working toward what they may trouble with. I think the best way of learning is to apply the concept to real-life situations. I am working towards completing a Biochemistry degree with further plans to pursue medicine at Texas Tech University. The subjects I teach are STEM, meaning mainly science and math, at the high school and at the college level.
I love to teach because it not only gives me an opportunity to help people better understand the material, and hopefully grow to love it the same way I do, but it also gives me a chance to learn from the student. I find that each student has a different way of learning, and with each student that I tutor, I discover different ways of teaching. I look forward to working with my future students and excited to see the different things I can learn from them.
