On the weekends, I enjoyed competing all over Texas with a traveling basketball team I was a part of. Fortunately, this early commitment to excellence helped me secure a spot with the Texas Tech Football team. In addition, I received a merit scholarship from Texas Tech based on my SAT scores and had my whole first year of college paid for by local scholarships I was awarded.
